“This was his very first time at an all-day daycare, and I was honestly pretty nervous leaving him. From the start, Shardae made everything feel so easy and reassuring. She sent thoughtful updates and photos throughout the day, and every single one showed a happy, relaxed pup who was clearly being cared for and loved. Seeing him playing and comfortable truly put my mind at ease. All I ever want is for my dog to feel safe, happy, and loved, and that is exactly what Shardae provided. Total success. I would absolutely trust her again and recommend her to anyone looking.”

About: Last year we said goodbye to our thirty pound poodle mix after 17 amazing years. Our kids, ages 15, 12, 9, and 5 have had a dog in the home all their lives and while we aren't ready to get a new dog just yet we would love to take care of yours! My husband Liam, always had dogs in his family’s house growing up. We have a spacious home and fenced back yard in a quiet Hawthorne neighborhood close to LAX. It’s easy for us to let the dogs out back throughout the day and to go for frequent walks around the block. We used Rover for our own dog so we know how great it feels to know that your pup is being taken care of like family while you are away. Poodles, poodle mixes, and smaller dogs are preferred but there’s always exceptions. My husband Liam, and I both work from home so there's always an adult around to make sure the dogs are taking care of. We live in a quiet neighborhood that's easy to take the dogs on walks. And with our backyard we can let the dogs out for frequent bathroom breaks if needed. We have a completely fenced in back yard that our dog loved in his time here. Our older children are at school or activities for most of the day so the dogs will generally have the run of the house.
“Marilyn showed us the area where our dog would be while in her care. She was sweet and excited to meet Kona. We’re extremely grateful that she was able to care for our pup at such unconventional hours! Thank you for your patience and excellent communication!”

“Noreen was great with my pup calypso. She was super tired when she got home. I was so happy she slept through the whole night! She ensured calypso got lots of play time and cuddles.”

“Everything about Cassie's stay was great! She was worn out when i picked her up, which was exactly what i wanted! She played with Joey and Dixie all day long and had a great time. Harley was very diligent with pictures and communication and made sure i knew everything that was going on with my puppy throughout the day. Excellent stay and highly recommended!”

About: I’ve been caring for friends’ and family’s pets for years, and it’s become one of my favorite things to do. I’m the person everyone calls when they need someone they truly trust and the biggest compliment I get is that their pets don’t want to go home when vacation ends! I’ve cared for all kinds of personalities, from energetic pups who love outdoor time to cozy cuddle-bugs who just want companionship and a soft place to snooze. I’m attentive, patient, and always prioritize keeping pets happy, relaxed, and loved while their families are away. I also live very close to LAX which is convenient if you need to drop your dog while you’re away. I also have a large fenced in backyard that dogs absolutely love. I work from home part-time, so caring for pets blends perfectly into my daily life. I love having furry company during the day and can give frequent attention — whether that's walks, play breaks, or extra cuddle sessions. Your pet won’t be left waiting; they’ll be part of my daily routine and treated like family. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a secure, pet-friendly environment with constant supervision and a fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor time. I take care to follow your pet’s routine and needs closely, and I treat every animal with the same level of attention and respect as I do my own. You can feel confident knowing your pet is in a safe, caring, and trustworthy home.
“Leslie has helped me so much by taking care of Jupiter! Very responsive, flexible on time, and most importantly took the time to make sure that my dog feels safe, comfortable, and loved in a big environment while I’m at work. I’m a repeating, and happy customer that will highly recommend Leslie!”

“Kyle was quick to reply to a last minute dog sitting request, and I’m so grateful he was able to help. He was flexible, accommodating, and very responsive throughout the entire process. This was my first time putting my puppy in daycare, but he reassured me and made me feel confident that my puppy was in good hands. He clearly has experience with puppies and even puppy socialization. I’ll definitely be coming back!”

About: Hi everyone my name is Angie and I may be new to Rover but I am not new to loving and caring for precious pups. I currently don't have any dogs living with me but prior to July 2025 I had my own fur babies since 1992. I decided this would be a wonderful way for me to get some puppy love, bring peace of mind to traveling pet parents, and make some money while providing a loving service. I have taken care of many of my friends pups along the way. Saki, Sophie, Sushi, Bodhi, Lucy, and Honey. I also occasionally foster dogs to help my friend's rescue. I would love to meet and care for your babies. My home is a safe and loving space for pups to play and have their "stay-cation"!! I work from home and will be available to be with the pet pretty much all day. Consistent time outdoors will be provided weather permitting. I have a fenced yard with plenty of room to play or grab that nice patch of sunshine to nap in. I maintain a clean and calm environment.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Hawthorne
Traveled with family and my dog from Palm Springs to the beach and didn't know of the laws prohibiting dogs on California Beaches till lifeguard told us and warned us we could get a $300 ticket if we didn't remove Palomo from the sand area. Disappointed in the parking lot I started looking for a solution and came across Rover app and looked for a LAST MINUTE Sitter, That's when Kyle accepted my request and saved the first beach day of summer for our entire family. He took great care of Palomo and was very profesional when handling him.

As always, they took amazing care of Letty. She got along great with their dog and looked completely comfortable and happy during her stay. When I picked her up, she was calm, relaxed, and clearly felt at home. In fact, she seemed so comfortable that she didn't seem worried at all when I arrived, which tells me she was receiving lots of love and attention. It's never easy leaving your dog with someone else, especially a senior dog, but I felt completely at ease knowing she was in good hands. Letty came back happy, warm, and well cared for. I truly appreciate the kindness and attention they gave her and would absolutely trust them with her again. Thank you for taking such great care of my girl!

Sophia was fantastic with ChouChou! She was incredibly communicative throughout the night and very flexible when I had to pick him up late after an event, no issues at all. It was ChouChou's first time being boarded and she made the transition seamless. He clearly loved her. Would absolutely book again!

Emily was great! We did a meet and greet with her dog ahead of the first stay to make sure they could get along. She sent plenty of photos and videos throughout the day and most importantly, our dog seems like he had a great time hanging out with her dog and cat!

This was my anxious dog’s first time with Sean, and it couldn’t have gone better. Sean gave him the space he needed to decompress, provided a calm and quiet environment, and even set up a cozy spot just for my dog. I really appreciated how much Sean looked out for Bilbo. 🐾

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
