“Anja was great! Incredibly responsive, gave us updates every day we were gone and was patient with our dog in her adjustment to a new caregiver. Plus she seemed like she actually enjoyed and liked our dog which matters to us! Definitely recommend and will use again !”

“Autumn is such an amazing dog sitter, I wish I could give her a 10 star rating! She takes such good care of our 2 dogs, so much exercise and love while we are gone. She’s a gift to doggy parents!”

“Abigail absolutely saved me and my Frenchie when my originally-booked sitter no-showed me hours before an international trip. Abigail was communicative, calm, and quickly formed a rapport with me and my dog despite never having met either of us! I’m so grateful for the exemplary care and kindness she showed and will 100% book with her again in the future!”

About: We lost our Great Dane several years ago after having dogs for 35 consecutive years. I signed up for Rover to help fill that “pitter patter, tick tick of the nails across the floor and the wagging tails greeting me at the door” void. The friends we have made through Rover have brought so much happiness and filled a void that I didn’t know would exist. This is my third year on Rover and have made so many new pup friends! Our dog a had a lot of health and anxiety issues and that made it difficult to find the right care for him when we traveled. I hope to remove that obstacle for you and provide you and your pet what you need for a stress free vacation. I have owned or taken care of all kinds of dogs ranging from 5 lbs to 130 lbs and am ready to help you with your dog. I can’t say enough about how much my family enjoys the snuggles and smiles the dogs offer. They quickly become part of the family and we always look forward to when they will return for a visit! I am a very active person and enjoy spending time outside, Going on walks.etc. While I have returned to the office 4 days a week, I have family members home during the day who can help out with letting pups out. I have a large unfenced yard but a great neighborhood for walking. We have 2 kids still at home 14 and 18 who both love dogs.

“Jamie was great. My husband and I spent a long day at the MN State Fair, and it was relaxing to know that our dog and cat were being taken care of while we had fun. Will definitely rebook. ?”

“Alex did such an amazing job watching my pets while I was on vacation. She sent lots of pictures and updates and I felt like I could relax without having to think about if everything was ok back home. Definitely book her for your next trip!”

“Alicja was very attentive to our dogs needs and kept them entertained while we were away for a long weekend. She’s a very good communicator, which made us feel better while being away, and she helped out around our house. We’re looking forward to having her help us again in the future!”

“Mikayla was a fantastic sitter for my dog Skye, a mini Aussie, and came to our house for four nights. Skye is pretty apprehensive with strangers and can be reactive with strangers in our home. We did a meet and greet about a week ahead of time and walked around a lake while Mikayla was kind and patient, letting Skye take the lead in their interactions.By the end of the meet and greet, Mikayla was able to give her treats from her hand. Skye was SUPER excited to see her again when she came to our house day of - a huge sign that she connected quickly! Mikayla took excellent care of Skye and kept in contact with us through photos and updates. 🥰 Mikayla is such a great sitter and we’ll be using her again! Such a great experience for both dog and family.”

“Kristen went above and beyond and we're grateful for her help while we were away. Her communication was great, Charlie was great and the house was spotless when we returned. Definitely recommend her for housesitting and we will certainly reach out to her again in the future!”

“I was totally at ease knowing Heather was staying with my dog who has special health needs, and the updates I received during my trip were reassuring. When I got home and saw how well my dog was doing I was more than appreciative that Heather was here for her!”

“Jen was wonderful! She took great care of our fur babies. They felt so comfortable with her. Appreciated all the updates and pictures. She really went the extra mile. Can’t say enough good things about her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hamel
First time user of Rover - hopped on to find quick care for our dog Frank - and Izzy responded immediately that she was available and willing to help. She did a great job checking in on our dog - getting him fed, fresh air, and some love and attention that he of course needs - would recommend Izzy! She was punctual, and a great communicator - a job well done! Thanks Izzy!

Annie watched my dog at my house while I was away for a week and was wonderful! She took my dog for walks, gave her lots of cuddles, and sent lots of updates and photos. She was a great house sitter as well (took out my trash, grabbed some mail/packages, checked on plants) which was above and beyond! Would definitely recommend her to others.

Sophia met our dogs multiple times over the course of two months so we would feel comfortable leaving them for an extended period of time. She did a great job walking our two large dogs and playing with our small one. She sent over videos and photos as well. The dogs were always happy to see her and when we came back we could tell that she really did a great job taking care of them!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hamel walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hamel maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hamel choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hamel. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
