About: I have been raised with dogs my entire life. Before I was born there were large dogs in the house which I grew up alongside. As I grew the number of pets in the house increased to include exotic animals like reptiles and farm animals. From 9 years old I was individually responsible for the care of a flying squirrelly who lived a happy life until she aged. From 13, myself and my siblings were responsible for the care of large and small farm animals as well as four dogs in the household at one time. Her report cards genuinely become a highlight of my day when I’m away. They’re hilarious, thoughtful, and full of personality, and the photos she sends absolutely melt my heart. I end up sharing them with friends and family because they’re just that good. Somehow she managed to make me feel guilty coming home because I’m pretty sure my cat Lady was having more fun with Rachael than she does with me. Between stroller adventures, birdwatching expeditions, story time, shoulder rides, and endless cuddles, Lady was living an objectively better social life than I was. And it’s not just the pets. Rachael takes amazing care of the home too. I always come back to a tidy house, clean dishes, scooped litter boxes, and dozens of thoughtful little touches that make returning from a trip so much easier. Frequent travel can be stressful, and being away from the animals I love is never easy. Rachael removes so much of that worry. Sarah was absolutely amazing. She is such a kind, gentle, and thoughtful person, and our cats really warmed up to her. One of our cats is extremely shy and usually takes a long time to trust new people, but Sarah did such an incredible job being patient and calm with her. By the end, even our shy little girl was comfortable. Our house sitting setup is honestly a bit chaotic right now. We have cats needing to stay in different rooms, doors that always need to stay closed, feeding schedules in different spots, and a general “musical chairs” situation happening at all times, so we are definitely not the easiest household to manage. Sarah handled all of it flawlessly. She sent pictures every single day, communicated wonderfully, and always gave a little synopsis of how things were going, which I appreciated so much.
