“Terri was great. Biscuit and Bourbon loved her and it was a great relief to know that we finally have someone we can leave them with without worrying. I definitely plan to use Terri again in the future.”

“You’ll love Charles and your pets will too. Our new puppy was sad we left him for a few hours, but Charles was there for him. While we were away we checked in, and Charles promptly replied and even sent a photo. Hire Charles- you will be glad you did.”

“Laci did a great job with Tucker! Showed up on time, followed instructions I left, and was very respectful in my home. I received lots of photos. Tucker says thanks again for hanging!”

“Sarah is exactly who you would want with your dog, if you love your dog. She is kind and sincere, as well as understands how important my dog is to me. I will not hesitate to contact Sarah every time I need a sitter/ walker/ friend for my dog.”
“Truly 5 stars! Gertie is our bulldog and can be a challenging breed, but Nina was amazing and so special to our little loved one. Gertie misses her for sure! Highly recommend, professional, safe and warm.... never worried about our pup or our home.”

“We were hesitant at first for ANYONE to watch our girls since this was our first time using Rover. When we did a meet and greet, we wanted the girls to trust the person they would be seeing for a few days. We had our doggy cam and we saw how happy they would be with Elena at times playing and getting hugs. The pictures proved they enjoyed her presence and were being taken care of. We were happy with the effort and care she gave for our girls as a doggy lover and would book Elena again for future trips again.”

“Elizabeth watched my Zoey over Christmas and did such a great job communicating and sending pictures every day. We did a meet and greet before our trip and was so happy that her sweet dog indie was a perfect play partner for Zoey and felt super comfortable having them play in the yard. She took Zoey for walks and play dates with her dog and Zoey was a happy pup! I recommend Elizabeth!”

“Jillyn is an incredible dog sitter!! She took great care of not only my pup but also my home. I didn't worry about a thing while I was out of town. I would definitely recommend Jillyn and she will be the first person I'd reach out to for my future dog sitting needs!”

“Jordan was amazing! She kept me posted with pictures and text to ensure I knew they were happy and enjoying themselves. We had a recent diagnosis for Miss Coco, and Jordan was so empathetic and put me at ease while I was out of town. Thanks again Jordan!!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 7. I’ve always had 4 dogs within my home at once. I’ve taken care of pitbulls my whole life both young and old. I have 3 pitbulls who are part of my current daily routine. I’ve taken care of my friend’s and family’s animals who have variety of dogs from smaller dogs to big dogs. I love dogs especially pitbulls. I am also a very organized person and love to clean. Being organized and cleanly comes in handy with more hyperactive dogs and dogs who may have accidents within the home. I work full time at the hospital. I’m available every day after 6. I also have two days off during the week and every other weekend off. This allows me to have a more flexibility when it comes to having a second job. I truly love animals and want to help out where I can! I have a fenced in yard that I let my dogs play in. They also are able to roam around the house and I crate them when I leave for work. I play with my dogs at home and also allow my dogs to lay in bed with me. I make sure to give them attention they need. I would be able to do the same for my client’s animals. I will definitely keep them entertained and allow them the care they need.
“Amber was great to work with while she stayed in our home with our three dogs. She loved on them all weekend and we could tell the dogs were happy and much more comfortable at home than at a kennel.”

“Best sitter possible. Our lucy was very well taken care of. Kara listened to all of our rules & exceeded our expectations of communication & friendliness. Extremely easy to work with & flexible. 10/10 will be re-scheduling.”

About: I currently own a dog, a bird, a fish, and hamster. Ive grown around dogs and animals all my life. I understand body behavior and trust = patience. No dog is aggressive, its just scared. I got a 10 week old puppy last year, it now knows how to wait for its food until commanded, give paw, sit, laydown, and roll over. I love animals and have had experience my entire life! I work at a pizza hut with a pretty flexible schedule, I can always work around your schedule and im very flexible when it comes to having availability. I care for pets as if they were my own by following all instructions closely and prioritizing their safety and comfort. I make sure dogs get proper exercise, fresh water, and positive attention. I respect clients’ homes, keep doors and gates secure, and provide updates for peace of mind.
“It’s very clear to us that Paige is a BIG animal lover! She treated our sweet girl with great care while we were traveling, and checked in with us each day with photos of her adventures. We’ve already rebooked Paige for dog sitting.”

“Riley did a great job communicating with me during the stay. She sent me pictures everyday. She did a great job taking care of my two large dogs and we’re looking forward to future sitting.”

“Amazing experience with Emily, who dog sat our two fur babies overnight. Our mini dachshund is shy with most people but immediately ran up to Emily. This was our first time using an overnight dog sitter, and we had no worries or concerns, which is a huge relief. Dogs were calm and happy when we got home. Highly recommend Emily for your dog sitting needs!”

About: Hi, I’m Angel! a veteran, full-time student, and father with a genuine love for all animals! I offer, house sitting and drop-in visits/walks, so whether your pet needs overnight care in their own space, or just a midday check-in, I’ve got you covered. I’ve been around animals my whole life, from dogs, cats, and kittens to turtles and bearded dragons. I’ve owned three dogs over the years and regularly handle medication for my own bulldog, Boulder, so I’m comfortable with hands-on care. I’m only in class two days a week, and as a veteran I keep a flexible schedule, so I have plenty of time to give pets real attention rather than a rushed visit. In my own home, pets have the run of the place, couch included, along with regular walks, feeding, and playtime. In a client’s home, I stick closely to their normal routine to keep things low-stress. Either way, every pet gets treated like my own! I’m only in class two days a week, from 8 AM to 1 PM, so outside of those hours I’m pretty much wide open. As a student with a flexible schedule, I have plenty of time to give pets real attention rather than a rushed visit! For house sitting or drop-in visits, I will accurately stick to any instructions given, following feeding times, walk schedules, and any specific instructions to keep things familiar and low-stress. Pets get plenty of attention, playtime, and a calm, safe environment throughout our time together. Safety always comes first: I keep a close eye on pets at all times and treat every pet like my own. I’m also always happy to schedule a meet and greet before booking, so you and your fur baby can feel comfortable with me.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Myers Beach
Belinda and her husband were absolutely awesome. I was worried about leaving Elle with someone other than family. Elle loved them instantly. Belinda sent pics and notes on Elle’s stay while I was away. She had a huge stuffed dog that Elle loved. Belinda said Elle even took her toys, one by one, to lay with the stuffed dog. I will definitely recommend Belinda and use her again! Thanks Belinda for a wonderful experience with a sitter for Elle!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Myers Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Myers Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Myers Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Myers Beach. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
