Miles did a wonderful job!! He stayed with our 2 cats for 3 nights and gave them so much attention!! He made it easy to travel which is difficult to do with our one girl who doesn’t like to eat while we are away. Miles checked in many times per day and gave updates on how she was eating and how both girls were doing. I highly recommend Miles and will definitely be booking with him next time I am away!

About: I'm a reliable and compassionate dog sitter with hands-on experience caring for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. As a current veterinary technician student, I bring a strong understanding of animal behavior, basic medical care, and emergency response. Whether your pup needs playtime, walks, medication, or just some extra love while you're away, I provide attentive and safe care tailored to their needs. I work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with just a 7-minute commute. This allows me ample time for evening pet care during the weekdays. I’m also fully available on weekends. I always follow the owner's instructions, as they know their pets best, and I respect any specific rules in place. I also use my best judgment to ensure your fur babies stay safe, comfortable, and happy at all times.

Hannah is an excellent sitter. She did a great job sitting at our home with our two Frenchies! Her communication was outstanding. She is motivated and willing to learn. Although she may not have as much experience as other sitters do not hesitate to give her a chance! You will not regret it. Thanks Hannah! We will see you soon!

Alexis is very sweet. She and her boyfriend came to my home to do a meet & greet with my dog. Alexis was attentive and interested when learning how to care for my dog. Alexis sent updates when she arrived at my house, sent pictures of my dog, and let me know when she left. My dog is a pitbull and Alexis was excited about this - which warmed my heart lol. Will be hiring Alexis again! :)

Merissa and Nick are stand outs! They took such great care of Comet; he can’t wait for them to come back and doggie-sit again! They are super responsive, great about sending updates/photos, and go above and beyond to make your dog comfortable and loved while you’re away! Comet had an injury at the time and, not only did they give him his medicine but also some doggie massages as a bonus! Highly recommend :)

About: I have, of course experience as a pet lover as a young child, merely watching and walking the dogs, feeding and changing litter/ picking up after the dogs. I never fully had responsibility and experience until I adopted my pal Leo. He is a high energy lab retriever and puts me through every step of patience! All in all, it has taught me to be stern and serious when needed, but flip it around to fun and playful as well. My boy knows to respect me and listen when i give a command. I know with my body language and direct nature will ensure your pups and kitties are loved and watched over. I will give your pets the time and attention you allow and ensure that while you are away there is plenty of fun to be had, and plenty of adventure as well :) I will be enrolling in school online at SNHU and will be taking courses at home. I will have afternoons and evenings off, So, plenty of free time for your beloved furry companions. I have experience with all types of dogs, not so much cats, but i am a day by day learner! I take everything into opportunity to gain a new skill. I will ensure your pet feels safe and secure with me, all of their needs will be met so long as they are in my care! :)

About: I’ve had my own animals, both cats and dogs (mainly cats) since I was 6 years old. I’ve had to administer insulin before to my diabetic cat that has since passed. My experience with dogs are mainly of the bigger size (I had a pitbull/boxer mix and a pure bred chow chow). I’m currently working as a Direct Support Professional overnights 9pm-9am Thursday through Saturday (technically Sunday 9am). So I’m pretty open for picking up last minute gigs if needed. I would love to have a break down of your pets day to day. Typically when they are most ready to play or eat. When potty breaks need to be done around.

I would recommend Jessica to anyone who has a dog with a “big personality” that needs a strong but gentle hand to manage it. 😃

Rebecca is excellent. She’s thorough, timely, and a great communicator. My dog felt at total ease with her, which isn’t a small feat given his anxiety. I felt completely secure having her stay with him while I was out for the day and he took to her instantly. She was easy to work and plan with. Hire her!

We had a wonderful experience with Kathryn and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive pet sitter. Kathryn stayed in our home for three nights while caring for our 9-month-old puppy, Steele. Steele is still young and requires a good amount of structure and attention—she can only be crated for up to four hours at a time and eats three meals a day. Kathryn handled all of this seamlessly and kept Steele on her routine without any issues. What we especially appreciated was Kathryn’s care during a slightly more challenging time—Steele was just finishing her heat cycle, and Kathryn managed everything with professionalism and ease. It gave us real peace of mind knowing Steele was in such capable hands. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup and a house that was just as we left it. Kathryn clearly cares about the animals she looks after and treats them like her own. We would gladly book Kathryn again and highly recommend her to others!

Kailyn was lovely and took great care of the pets and the house! She let us know she wasn't feeling well the second day but still took care of everyone after we weren't able to arrange a backup. It was obvious that she really read through our instructions and was very thorough and communicative, and the pets seem to have had a good weekend :)

She followed all instructions and made sure our pup was fed lunch and dinner. We felt completely at ease and would absolutely recommend her.

5-Star Review for Pamela – Exceptional Puppy Sitter We were incredibly fortunate to have Pamela care for our young Labrador puppy, Steele, for three nights while we were away. Steele is full of energy, currently teething, and—like many puppies—can be precocious, stubborn, and a handful at times. Despite all that, Pamela handled her with patience, confidence, and genuine affection. From the very beginning, it was clear that Pamela is a seasoned dog person. She took the time to understand Steele’s routines, quirks, and needs, and she always checked in before making any decisions—including asking permission to bring her well-mannered 2-year-old dog for play sessions. Their time together was a huge benefit for Steele’s socialization and energy levels, and it was done thoughtfully and responsibly. Pamela communicated consistently throughout our time away, sending daily updates, videos, and photos. This gave us complete peace of mind knowing Steele was not only safe but happy and engaged. Her attention to detail and willingness to keep us informed truly set her apart. Equally important, Pamela treated our home with the utmost respect—she cared for it as if it were her own. We returned to a spotless house and a very content puppy, which speaks volumes about her professionalism and care. We cannot recommend Pamela highly enough. Her experience, kindness, reliability, and exceptional communication make her an outstanding choice for anyone seeking a trusted sitter—especially for high-energy or challenging puppies. We will absolutely be booking with her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Fort Hunter

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fort Hunter on Rover is $43.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 575 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Hunter. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Hunter walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Hunter maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Hunter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Hunter. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
