“Avamaria was amazing! We have a 10wk old puppy with lots of energy and she did a great job juggling him and our other dog, and our cat. We received great updates and all our animals seemed to really like her.”

“Hannah was awesome! We booked last minute and had some changes right up to the day we were leaving. She was flexible and accommodating. She took great care of our dogs and they loved her. She sent us regular updates with photos. It gave us peace of mind while we were out of town. I would definitely rebook Hannah in the future.”

About: I have done plenty of house sitting, dog walking, and pet sitting over many years! With friends, family, and neighbors! I love animals! Thank you! I work part time at the Flagstaff YMCA and am a student at NAU. I am usually pretty free during the day or late at night to care for your pets! I take pets on daily walks more than once a day, I also ensure all animals receive the time and freedom to complete their potty routines outside it in the recommended potty places! I also like to stick to my clients regiment for feeding. I ensure I follow all rules and suggestions with great care.
“Emily stayed with our two dogs and a cat for a very long Saturday. Our 14 year old lab isn't is the best of health and Emily took great care of her. We had pictures of snuggles all around and came home to a house full of happy pets.”
“Atlantis did a fantastic job! She kept us up to date with pics of our pets while we were away and treated our pets as if they were her own. We intend on booking with her again!”

“My pets seemed to love her and she was very good at keeping us posted during her care. She stayed at our house for a few days while we were out of town and she was respectful of our things and would highly recommend!”

“Samuel is absolutely amazing. I feel very fortunate that I found him to care for my pets and my home. My corgi loved him immediately! He provided great communication during my trip and responded very quickly to my messages. He took my boy on many long walks and adventures. I came home to a very happy, sleepy, dog. He even vacuumed and tidied up the house before he left! I can’t recommend him strongly enough. I look forward to hiring him again in the future.”

“Xia was so sweet and loving with my boy/prized possession. He immediately took to her. She is a very impressive and trustworthy gal with a clear and genuine love for animals. Highly recommend!”

“Dexter and Lana loved their time with Devon. She was very helpful and sent lots of updates and pictures so I knew they were doing well. I will definitely plan on having her watch the pups in the future!”
About: As a young person, I have the following attributes: responsible, nurturing, emotionally mature (with humans and pets - haha), motivated, understanding, and easily complies to clear rules and standards. I can multitask, so I not only take care of pets, but I also maintain the surrounding environment, such as keeping a clean and tidy house. Keep in mind, I'm a full-time college student, but I'm best available throughout breaks and weekends. I can also do multiple overnights if needed. There is flexibility in my schedule needed if communicated ahead of time. Unfortunately, I don't have pets of my own, but through my many years of experience from previous pet sitting, I take care for pets based on their own individual needs. Following a schedule is always most important. I follow routines such as feeding times, potty time, walking or recreational time, and if needed, giving medication or prescriptions.
About: I walk dogs, stay overnight with fur babies who dislike being alone, and administer medication. This ensures they receive consistent care, companionship, and necessary medical attention while their owners are away. With my work schedule, I meticulously plan pet care in advance. I coordinate with the owners for daily needs, from detailed instructions and maintaining open communication to ensure each pet's well-being. When home, I dedicate extra time to care for the pets. I provide playful interactions, daily walks, and routine feedings. I promptly clean up messes and offer overnight stays for anxious pets, ensuring all animals receive personalized care and attention.

About: I’ve had a variety of amazing dogs and cats throughout my life since I was six years old to today. Many people consider themselves either a dog or cat person, but I can’t imagine my life without either. I find animals such a wonderful addition to life’s enjoyments, and find that they especially benefit mental health. As someone with a mental illness, being around animals brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I am looking for a job to make some extra income with I work on getting my Master’s Degree at NAU. I am an online student so I have a very flexible schedule. I am familiar with animals across ages 9 months-seniors, and all dog sizes (I’ve had both a 12 pound dog and a 72 pound one!). I love playing with my animals and taking my dog for walks or out to the dog park. I offer as many pets and snuggles as they would like, while also respecting an animal’s boundaries. I am good at recognizing stress signals and managing animals interacting with one another, including dogs and cats together. My years of experience include time I’ve spent caring for my own and other’s animals. I fit my schedule to work around my animals’ needs, especially my dog’s. I am going to school full time online, and work for a few hours a month at my church, which allows me to be home when I need to. I either give my dog a walk or take her to the dog park once a day. I have a routine for feeding and make sure I am home every 2-4 hours to let me dog out to the bathroom. I give each animal the amount of attention and stimulation it needs everyday, including play and pets. I enjoy giving each animals a treat once a day, and have my dog Bella do some “tricks” before receiving one. Bella is kennel trained and the cats are free to roam around. I respect however one chooses to open their space to their animals. Some people don’t kennel train, but they shut certain doors in the house. Another important thing for me is making the environment inviting through presence of toys, bones, blankets, beds, and cat trees (we have one at our apartment). I try to leave the windows or blinds open during the day so the cats can spend time looking outside (they are indoor cats, but I have had outdoor cats). I will also sometimes play those pet TV videos on YouTube.
“Alexander did an absolutely amazing job taking care of my dog! He kept me updated by sending pictures throughout the day, which was so reassuring. It was clear that my dog had a fantastic time playing and exploring, and by the end of it, he was completely exhausted from all the fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better caretaker—thank you, Alexander!”

“Thank you so much for loving my sweet doggies as much as I do 💖 being able to have photos of them while I'm gone gives me so much peace of mind and you updated me often. You are fantastic!”

“Alex house sat our two English Setter dogs for 4 nights and we will definitely book with her again. She came back during her lunch periods to let them out and promptly returned after work to let them out again and feed them dinner. She provided regular updates and pictures which always made us happy. Dogs (and house) were very well taken care of while we were away. Thank you Alex! Hank and Dale greatly appreciated your company!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Flagstaff
Tyler was fantastic! He was very attentive with all three animals, and was particularly amazing with our elderly chihuahua who can be a bit of a handful. He was communicative each day with pictures and status updates, and the house was just as we left it when we returned. I would highly recommend Tyler for taking care of your furry friends!

Nathan was GREAT, we hired him to stay at our place for a week. He was very attentive to our dog’s needs and schedule, as well as did us an additional favor by watering our newly planted plants. Nathan went above and beyond, we will definitely use his services again in the future!

Xia did an amazing job with our 2 dogs and senior cat. One of the dogs and the cat are on meds and she had no problems administering their twice daily meds. She followed all the instructions I left and left me a very detailed note about the behavior and activities of our animals when we were gone. My house was cleaner than when I left! She has been by far the most professional of all our Rover sitters. I cannot say enough good things about the care and love she showed our animals. We will definitely be calling Xia again and can highly recommend her as a house sitter. I would have given her more stars if I could have!
Madeline was amazing. We had a pet emergency happen while she was with us and she went above and beyond to get things handled. She truly cares about animals. Even our kitties were cuddling with her during our trip. She communicated with us anytime she had questions and sent us daily updates. We felt very comfortable with her.
Laila took such great care of our two labs. She was able to handle the exuberant one year old as well as our older lady. She took care of the house too. She followed the many hints we outlined for her. All went very well and Laila's services will be considered in the future. Consider using her if you need concensus care for your pets.
We had a great experience with Monica. She took care of our 3 golden retrievers at our cabin in Williams. It was heartwarming to see how much she loves dogs and the great care she provided. We will most definitely use her services again in the future and recommend her.

Mary watched my pup Ginger for a week, and I felt confident that she would take good care of my girl. I got the sense that she is down to earth, and responsible. She was very communicative and gave my pup lots of stimulation and affection, sending lots of photos and updates (and my pup was smiling in a lot of them!) She also left the condo very tidy. I highly recommend Mary!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Flagstaff walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Flagstaff maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Flagstaff choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
