“Jennifer has watched my pets a handful of times now & every visit is awesome. This time she stayed with my animals for 8 days and I came home to extremely happy babies. I even have a chihuahua who suffers with anxiety and typically doesn’t come out of my bedroom, but she even slept with Jen & barked when Jen wasn’t in sight. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JEN ❤️”

“Nicole was great with my dogs. She stayed with them for a weekend. When I returned, they were calm and happy. She checked in with updates and photos while I was away and took them on many walks. We will definitely use her again.”

About: I’ve consistently taken care of dogs for the past four years. I have two pups of my own, both male pugs, that I love very much and will take care of your pups with the same amount of love and care. My goal is to communicate with you so that your dog, no matter the age or energy level, has the best time while their owner is away! I am a student and in the summer work part-time, so any Rover job can be tailored to my schedule as needed! I work for small chunks at a time in the afternoons, so I can see your pup before and after (if needed). Let’s work something out together! I love my own little pugs very much and understand the love that dog parents have for their pups. Communication is extremely important to me so I can prepare for your dog before hand and can communicate back to you how they are doing!
“Our dogs loved Stephanie!!! She sent pictures and kept us updated while we were away! The dogs were well taken care of and happy. Thanks for loving on our babies!!”
“Day was amazing. It was the first time I had someone come in for my 8 pound Chihuahua and I paid her for overnight for a week and she was phenomenal. My dog was so happy I would highly recommend her.!!!!!”

“We couldn’t be happier with the care our home and dog received while we were away. From the very beginning, Jennifer was communicative, reliable, and incredibly thoughtful. She made sure our dog felt loved and comfortable, sending regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind. We returned to a spotless home and a very happy puppy- exactly what every pet owner hopes for! It’s clear that Jennifer treats pets like family and takes pride in her work. We would absolutely book her again and can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“First time using this app and using a dog sitter I didn't know. I felt very at ease knowing Katelyn was here to take care of Montana for 8 days. We came back to a clean house and a VERY happy dog!”

“Carrie was an absolute blessing caring for us and our 5 dogs while were were out of the country for our wedding. She is so organized, caring, and attentive to all our pets taking away all the stress of leaving our fur-babies for more than a week. She played with each of them, walked them, took them to the river to swim, snuggled the puppies, bathed them, and even cleaned the house to make it nice for us when we arrived home. She went over and beyond in every way which showed her dedication and love for animals. We will definitely use her many more times in the future and I highly recommend her to all families looking for honest, loyal care for their pets.”

I always follow owner instructions carefully to ensure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in every environment.

“Charity and her husband, Jeff, took great care of our dog! Our dog is suffering from a progressive disease that has affected his hind legs. He is only able to stand with the use of his dog wheels. He also requires oral medication twice a day. I had contacted Charity last minute after an unsuccessful overnight stay at a kennel. At our meet and greet, I could tell she was a person that loves dogs, and George took to her instantly! When we returned home George was happy and not stressed at all. I can’t thank them enough for taking such good care of my fur baby!”

“Ashley was amazing!! We loved her and more importantly our babies did too! They seemed very happy when we got home and they didn’t seem to have missed us much and they gave us no attitude, lol! Ashley provided great communication and responsiveness. She sent lots of pictures and kept us updated. She was very responsible and did a great job with our boys and their special needs. We definitely will be using her again.”

“Kariah is the best! She took care of our baby Tug the whole weekend and was so great about sending pictures and updates. We were able to have a relaxing, much needed weekend without any worry knowing Kariah had Tug. She is fantastic, trustworthy, sweet and gentle. Thanks Kariah ❤❤❤”

“Willow was awesome! Great communication, several visits to the house for a meet and greet and to go over protocol before the actual pet sitting and super sweet with the dogs. Reliable, trustworthy and diligent. Thank you Willow!”

“Cara was very prompt to respond to our inquiry about taking care of our Shih Tzu. She was sweet and kind and stayed in touch with us the whole time. She is such a sweet girl. We would highly recommend her to anyone. It’s hard leaving your 11 year-old child at home but we didn’t worry about him one minute. She stayed in contact with us the whole time. She stayed at our house and left it cleaner than it was before she got there. We felt very trusting of her Thank you sweet Cara. Harlee Ray had so much fun with your visit. He hopes that she’ll come back soon to stay with him. He told us he was not bad that he was a good boy. Thank you again for taking care of our precious Precious Angel. So this is a review for her.”

“Zane is an exceptional person. He treated my very old dog with dignity. And my cat appreciates the mega treats Zane gave him. 😏 Anyone who who needs a conscientious person to look after their animals Zane is their man”
“Mallory was fantastic! She came out to meet my pets prior to her stay with them and it was clear they would get along fine. Mallory was on time and respectful of my house and my pet instructions. I got plenty of updates and felt completely comfortable that my dogs & cat were in good care while I was gone. I look forward to having Mallory stay with the fur family again soon!”

About: I have had one dog for 4+ years, and another dog for 2+. I have dedicated a lot of my life since getting my two dogs as far as training them, taking them on long walks, playing with them, and most importantly, loving them and giving them all the attention they need and deserve. I have plenty of time throughout the day to take care of dogs because I currently do not have another job! I prefer to work early in the morning/afternoon. At my home, there is a lot of space for my doggies to run around because there is a park right outside my door which is great! They also have their own play space inside.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fernandina Beach
Nicole was absolutely wonderful with our dogs! From the moment I met her, I felt completely comfortable and at ease leaving them in her care. She was attentive, caring, reliable, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. Nicole kept us updated, gave our dogs lots of attention, and treated them like her own. It’s such a relief to find someone you can fully trust with your pets, and Nicole exceeded all expectations. Our dogs were happy, relaxed, and so well cared for when we returned. I highly recommend Nicole, she truly goes above and beyond!

Lauren did a great job for our two large goldendoodles, Addy (8 months) and Mae (6 years)! She stopped by a few days beforehand so that I could meet with her and she could meet the pups. Lauren took such great care of the girls and kept in close contact with me the entire time. I would definitely recommend Lauren!

FAQs for House Sitting - Fernandina Beach
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fernandina Beach on Rover is $52.52 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,033 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fernandina Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fernandina Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fernandina Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fernandina Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fernandina Beach. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
