“Laura did an amazing job taking care of our dogs while we were away! She communicated well from start to finish and kept us updated with plenty of pictures, which made it so much easier to relax knowing they were in great hands. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of love and attention. She also left our home neat and tidy, which we really appreciated. We wouldn’t hesitate to book laura again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, caring, and professional pet sitter!”

About: While I consider myself an avid horse lover, dogs and cats hold a big place in my heart as well, I make sure your baby gets the time and affection they need! I just recently left my full time job to pursue other areas in the veterinary field, so my time is able to accommodate your fur baby’s needs! Just recently coming from a Fear Free hospital, I incorporate those practices into how I handle pets and make sure they are loved and cared for!
“Lisa and Dean are amazing! Since this was my first time using Rover I’m not going to lie I was a little nervous, but they took that all away!! We were able to meet up with them a couple times prior to our trip giving our fur babies a chance to meet them. During their stay I received multiple updates including pictures. I’m thankful to have found Lisa and Dean, we will definitely use them again in the future.”

“First time app dog sitter here and I have to say…. I was TERRIFIED! However, Yesenia was so patient with me and Chac and came by for meet and greets multiple times to make us feel comfortable. She went above and beyond by communicating with me on her plans, as she had other visits while watching our pup, and was always on time. She provided photos and videos everyday, which was so helpful. Thank you, Yesenia!!!”

“Amber was once again STELLAR! My travel plans home got messed up by a delayed flight, and Amber worked with me to make sure my babies were well cared for until I got home. I am very thankful for her flexibility & care.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter than Mona! She was on time, attentive, and professional, and she made us feel completely comfortable knowing our fur babies, Ziggy and Rooster, were in such good hands. Mona kept us updated throughout her time with them, which we really appreciated. The best part is that Ziggy and Rooster absolutely loved her! It’s such a relief to find someone who genuinely cares for our dogs, and we would highly recommend Mona to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring sitter. We will definitely be booking with her again! ❤️”

“Jana was such a fantastic pup and house sitter! Lots of pictures and updates, and Cash was so happy to have lots of love and company. Highly recommend and we will absolutely invite Jana back when she’s available!”

About: What sets me apart is my deep, hands-on experience with pets who need extra care and attention. I cared for my dog Maya, who was blind and diabetic, and I was responsible for administering her insulin and making sure she stayed safe, comfortable, and happy. I also cared for my soul dog Marcello, who developed anxiety in his later years and needed patience, consistency, and a calm environment. Both of my dogs were seniors who lived long, full lives (15 and 17), so I’m very comfortable with senior care, medication routines, and recognizing subtle changes in behavior or health. I’ve also fostered multiple dogs over the years, including a puppy, so I’m familiar with different temperaments, energy levels, and basic training needs. Because I work from home, your pet will get plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day—not just quick check-ins. I’ve had animals my entire life, and while I can’t have one of my own right now, caring for others’ pets truly brings me joy. I treat every animal like family and aim to create a calm, loving, and reliable environment while you’re away. I’m currently working remotely with a great deal of flexibility! I have no set meetings or calls that would conflict with a pet care schedule and can plan accordingly to accomodate your pets needs. I am unable to take your pets to my home due to lease regulations but can come watch your animals in the comfort of your own home. I would defer yo you as the pet owner to guide me on your pets personality, likes and dislikes and get to know them to ensure top notch care!
“We are incredibly happy with Willow. She took such excellent care of Bella and sent us photos and messages every day. I would definitely request Willow again and highly recommend her to others. She is intelligent and friendly and great with our Bella!”

I have my own transportation and will give many updates about the pets as needed! Please feel free to reach out and message me regarding any jobs/questions! I am currently working part time so I have an open availability to take care of pets as often as needed whether it be a quick walk or play time. I have done dog walking for many years with my own dog and friend’s dogs. I care for animals as if they are my own so you can be stress-free in knowing your fur baby is being taken care of!
“Graceann was wonderful. We were so thankful Graceann was able to stay with our puppy at our house during my husbands surgery. Our puppy loved having her and Graceann kept us updated with lots of photos which kept us happy. We will definitely use Graceann again. Loved her and so did Olive.”

“Thank, CJ for staying at our apartment over the weekend and taking such good care of Clover! We appreciated the daily photos/videos and how you followed his schedule. We also appreciate how the apartment was clean and tidy when we arrived back home. Hopefully you can watch Clover again soon!”

“Lily took great care of Yogi!!! My husband and I felt comfortable being out of town knowing Yogi was in good hands. She was also communicative and gave us daily updates and photos, which I love!!”

Because dogs are just like babies they can get into things so double checking doors and Gates is a must.

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life and have always had a special love for them. I grew up with both horses and dogs, so caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I currently have two Pit Lab mixes of my own who are truly my children! I also regularly help care for my sister’s dog when needed. I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets, and I’ll treat every animal I care for with the same love, patience, and attention that I give my own. I work from home, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for your pets throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, playtime, and lots of attention. Living at Jax Beach, I’m always out walking my own dogs and would love to bring your pup along for some fresh air and exercise! I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I have two dogs of my own, so I understand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pets. I’ll always follow your pet’s normal routine and any instructions you provide, while making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.
About: What sets me apart from many sitters is my lifelong experience with animals and my ability to genuinely connect with them quickly — especially pets who may be anxious, shy, older, highly attached to their owners, or simply used to lots of companionship and attention. Over the years, I’ve helped care for foster litters of puppies and kittens requiring around-the-clock feeding, monitoring, and weight tracking alongside my best friend, who is a veterinarian. I also have veterinary technician and shelter experience, along with hands-on experience caring for senior pets, administering medications, reinforcing basic puppy training, and supporting animals with special routines, anxieties, or medical needs. I’m currently working with one of my own dogs in service dog training, and I’m also a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who previously worked with pre-K children with autism using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. Both experiences have strengthened my understanding of behavioral reinforcement, nonverbal communication, patience, routine, trust-building, and adapting to different personalities and emotional needs. In many ways, both children and animals communicate heavily through energy, body language, consistency, and feeling emotionally safe, and I’ve found those skills help me connect especially well with animals of all temperaments. I’m also an avid walker and love spending time outdoors, taking long walks through the beautiful Riverside and Avondale neighborhoods, local parks, and nearby green spaces — especially when the weather cools down a bit. For more active dogs, I genuinely enjoy playtime, walks, fetch, and engagement throughout the day, while calmer pets usually find me just as happy to provide cuddles, companionship, and a peaceful environment. Because I operate my design company remotely and on my own schedule, I’m often able to spend extended time in the home providing companionship, supervision, structure, affection, and a calming presence throughout the day and overnight — not just quick drop-ins. I truly enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality and creating an environment where they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and relaxed while their owners are away. Because I own and operate my own boutique design firm, my schedule is highly flexible and allows me to work remotely from anywhere with a reliable internet connection. I’m also involved in tween mentorship and creative consulting, both of which I manage on my own schedule, making it easy for me to prioritize the needs and routines of the pets in my care. I’m naturally both an early riser and a night owl, so I’m available for early morning feedings and walks, late-night potty breaks, overnight companionship, medication schedules, and pets who simply feel more secure having someone nearby throughout the day and evening. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine because I genuinely enjoy the companionship, structure, and calm presence animals bring. Whether I’m working quietly from my laptop while keeping your pet company, taking breaks for walks and playtime, or providing attentive overnight care, I’m able to give pets far more presence and consistency than many traditional sitters with rigid work schedules. Safety, trust, and creating a calm environment are extremely important to me, whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home. I have two friendly small dogs and cats of my own, so pets staying in my home should be comfortable around other animals and able to coexist peacefully. Our pets are very much part of the family and are welcome on furniture and beds, so I aim to create a relaxed, loving, home-like environment rather than a kennel atmosphere. I understand that every pet has different comfort levels, routines, and boundaries, and I take introductions, feeding, supervision, and transitions seriously to help everyone feel safe and comfortable. If a pet prefers to be crated or separated at times, I’m happy to accommodate those needs as well. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I’m highly respectful of routines, security, cleanliness, and household expectations. As a longtime homeowner and business owner myself, I understand the level of trust involved when someone gives access to both their beloved pets and their home. I’m conscientious about alarms, locked doors, medications, feeding schedules, potty routines, cleanliness, and communication. Because I work remotely from home in the Avondale area, I’m also able to provide a high level of flexibility, supervision, companionship, and overnight presence for pets who are used to having someone nearby throughout the day.
About: For 17 years I have been taking care of dogs (really animals of all kinds, shapes, and sizes) both of my own and for others too. There has never been a point in my life that I have not had a dog. Right before I was born, my parents got a beagle that I grew up with. I started taking care of her at a young age (I’d say even later than 17 years ago, just not notable enough to count for it) when she needed special baths for her skin condition, treatments for her ear infections, and catering to her broken arm after getting run over by a car. Before she passed, we got a husky. I helped train (on and off leash commands), groom, trim his nails, and learned how to speak husky. He was a very loved hand full. I learned so much from him because of all the trouble he made from running away, eating glue, chewing up the entire house… you name it, he did it. Through these lessons I have learned not only how to retain my patience and grace, but also how to be a beacon of support and reservoir of love for all fur babies. Nevertheless, when he got older, I gave him shots for his hip dysplasia and ensured he was most comfortable until the day my sister and I sat in the room with him on his way up to doggy heaven. Today, I have a great pyrenees who is a bundle of joy. Again, I have trained her, happily cater to her persistent anxiety--especially with thunderstorms--ensure she is exercised, groomed, and feeling loved. Currently I am working part-time and most of this is at home doing online research for school. Pet care is my daily routine anyways and I have a partner who often stays home to take care of our pup. He certainly supports me needing to fill my cup with more love in my heart from interacting with animals. Nevertheless, I love to help people out. I find that having a good, stable community is the most precious thing we can have as people. It takes a village and I am happy to be apart of that village. I am happy to make any accommodations possible to help you and your fur baby feel the most comfortable with my care. Upon your request to book me, we will go over the requirements of their boarding or my visit(s). You let me know what I can do to help and what you feel most content with.
“Such a wonderful experience. Cheryl was friendly and professional. We felt extremely comfortable having her watch the house and taking care of our pets. Thank you again for everything.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kings Bay
Katelyn took great care of our Bonnie, as well as our home. The first night we had alarms going off due a older smoke alarm at the end of its life. Katelyn contacted us and we worked out the fix quickly and easily. It was fortunate she was there to help as well as calm Bonnie's nerves. She had great communication throughout the rest of the week we were gone, including pictures and videos of our girl enjoying life. (We're not 100% sure she's happy we're back and her new friend is gone...) We'll definitely reach out to Katelyn again in the future when we plan our next trip.

Laura did an amazing job taking care of our dogs while we were away! She communicated well from start to finish and kept us updated with plenty of pictures, which made it so much easier to relax knowing they were in great hands. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly received lots of love and attention. She also left our home neat and tidy, which we really appreciated. We wouldn’t hesitate to book laura again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, caring, and professional pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kings Bay walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kings Bay maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kings Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
