“We usually use a family member to take care of our cats. Due to a scheduling conflict we needed outside help. Sara did a great job! She was great at sending several photos of my happy cats. Sara was even able to see and get a photo of my super scared cat (Odie) that no ever sees, that just doesn't happen. We asked Sara to stay for an hour to love on them so they would not feel so abandoned. She did just that and we have pictures showing how our needy/affectionate cat (Loki) just crawled all over her. The area around the food and water bowl was left clean and tidy. The liter box was cleaned regularly. Thank you for attention to detail. If they could talk I am sure they would ask for Sara again by name.”

“Zachary did a great job with me and my cat. Zach’s communication was excellent, when I was looking for a carer and while I was out of town. I would happily hire him for pet care again.”

About: I have taken care of both cats and dogs. I love taking dogs on walks, long or short, and multiple times a day if needed. Or even if they just need to be let out in the yard and have a little play time! I have grown up around cats and understand all the little quirks that come with them. I would be perfect if they need a hangout buddy for a little bit! I always know how to find the pets at any function I’m at! I am currently waiting to start a new job, so I have all the time in the world to go on walks throughout the day, let them out in the yard to play, or even just hangout with the fur baby inside. I have always cared for animals my whole life. I understand that a pet isn’t just a pet, they are family. You can trust me to look after and care for them as if they were my own fur baby.
“This was my first time using Rover and Andy was amazing! She was friendly, professional and caring towards my two cats. I was so glad to see my cats warm up to her and I loved the updates/photos Andy provided. Thanks, Andy, for putting my mind at ease while I was gone!”

“Daniel recently provided drop-in visits for our daughter's cat Milo while we were on a family hiking trip. His pics of Milo showed how happy Milo was to see him, and when we returned home it was obvious Milo was much more at ease compared to other times we were away. We've also had Daniel pet sit for our dogs in the past, and he really creates a fast bond with them. We're so thankful to have someone as reliable and attentive as Daniel to care for our pets!”

About: I stand out as a sitter because I have extensive experience with senior dogs, including caring for my own pets through seizures, medications, and even diaper routines. I work from home, so I can provide consistent attention and companionship throughout the day. I’ve cared for many different breeds and temperaments, and I treat every dog like family, with patience, compassion, and reliable care. I’ve watched over 50+ dogs the last few years while being an official dogsitter with many regular clients. I work from home and I usually take a daily walk. I’ve had a pet dog majority of my life, so incorporating pet care into my routine is nothing new! I have a fenced in yard. When I dog sit at homes with no fence, I always make sure the dog is securely leashed before heading out the door. I am however, not comfortable taking dogs to the dog park. I have lots of experience caring for multiple dogs at once. However, I do usually only accept one client at a time (if you have two dogs that’s totally fine).
“Wendy is absolutely wonderful! She was so patient with our cats. One of them ate too fast and gave her a mess to clean up and the other who is chronically shy took a few visits to finally come out to see her and eat. She was so kind with them and did everything in her power to make our cats feel loved and cared for. We will use her services again!”

“This was my first time working with Jeff and he took very good care of my cat, Carmella while I was out of town. He sent updates and photos on a daily basis each time he came to the house and watered my plants/flowers as well. He has experience with and a passion for animals, and I will have him take care of my pets again in the future.”

About: I’ve always had dogs growing up in the house, but I needed one of my own when I was seven, which is why I proclaim fifteen years of experience. When I was five, I called myself the dog whisperer, and I’m bringing back the title because I think it still fits! Since middle school, I have pet sat for many family friends and neighbors, and I always get along great with the animals! I’m going to school to become a therapist, but if dog therapists were a thing, I would change career paths. Please let me hang with your pets - I don’t have any pets anymore and I miss doggos! I work M-F from 9-5, but get out early some days and can visit the pets on my lunch. Other than that, I can be free as needed! I’m happy to spend as much time with the pets as is preferred. I will house sit or dog walk, but I cannot host them! I will of course follow any instructions left and be very respectful of the space, while making sure your pets have the best time!
About: I have over one year of hands-on experience caring for dogs of different sizes and personalities. I provide safe, loving, and reliable care, including walking, feeding, playtime, and basic grooming. I am patient, attentive, and always focused on making pets feel comfortable and happy. I treat every pet like my own and follow all instructions carefully to ensure their routine and well-being. I’m a freelance photojournalist based here in DC, looking for ways to fill the extra downtime in-between assignments by doing something I love. My schedule varies and is quite flexible depending on your needs. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, walking, medication, and routines. I keep a clean, calm, and secure environment and always supervise pets during walks and playtime. When caring for pets in your home, I respect your space and provide regular updates so you feel confident and at ease.

“Muning and Corey took excellent care of our two cats while we were away. They were very communicative and helpful, and went above and beyond taking extra care of our older cat who had frequent accidents. I highly recommend them both for any pet care care. Thank you, Muning and Corey!”

“Lots of great updates, looked like they had great quality time together! Brought peace of mind to see pics of my kitty having such a fun time when I had to find someone to take care of her at the last minute”

“Christiane did such an amazing job with my pups! They’re super high energy and I always worry they’ll be too much for sitters. She provided updates and sent plenty of pictures. My dogs clearly loved her! Will definitely be using in the future 😊”

Kylie watched our two dogs for a long weekend and was great! She took them for walks, made sure they had fresh water and food at dinner time, sent us updates throughout the visits, and was so easy to work with! I would recommend Kylie to anyone looking for help with their animals. You can tell she really cares and is someone we will definitely book with again in the future.

Donna was amazing! She communicated excellently, was reliable, and gave exceptional care to our sweet senior tripod dog who is wheelchair bound. It was clear that Donna truly cared about his comfort and wellbeing. We are so grateful and would highly recommend her!

Stephanie does so well with my 2 dogs. She let them enjoy the outdoors with the back yard and going for walks. She communicated well in words and pictures. So happy she gives my senior dogs such great care since I am out of town a lot and get her on a repeat basis.
Abby truly can do it all!!! She always is so attentive and caring towards my animals. I have had her do drop ins for my senior dog and puppy (in all the puppy stages) when I’m away. She can handle it all from my older Belly’s seizure meds, incontinence, and picky eating habits to Xany’s crazy pup energy, always wanting walks and cuddles and playtime. Abby is communicative and sends lots of cute pics of her visits which gives me peace of mind and joy. My older dog also isn’t really a people person, but she likes Abby and feels safe with her which is the most important. Beyond grateful that Abby lives nearby our home <3

Brendan was great with our 2 dogs. The dogs seemed to like him and the pictures proved that. He took his time with each dog individually which was nice for the dogs to get their own attention. Thank you for respecting our home and taking care of our fur-babies! We are definitely keeping Brendan in our favorites.

Hannah was an awesome pet sitter and we’ll definitely be using her again! She was super responsive, sent the cutest photos, and gave regular updates that really put us at ease. Our dog (Australian shepherd) clearly loved her and got so much attention and affection while we were away. Thank you, Hannah!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Fairfax with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
