“It was an easy adjustment to leave my dogs at home with Katelyn while she stayed at our house. She cleaned up after herself and I was happy to receive all the updates while we were away. I’ve already rebooked her!”

“Lauren is amazing with my dog Luna and was so flexible when I had to change plans. Have re-booked many times because Luna just loves her and I know she’s in good hands with Lauren!”

“Lauren was absolutely amazing!! I had to find a sitter last minute, and I loved her bio the moment I read it. She responded quickly to my request and made sure to nail out the details for my dog’s stay. I could tell she’s experienced and loves animals, and so could my dog! She sent regular updates and pictures, and when I saw my dog frolicking in her backyard and snuggled up later on in the evening like he forgot I had dropped him off was all I needed to set my mind at ease haha! Lauren is a fantastic sitter and I will absolutely be booking her again. Thank you so much!!”

Pets respond well to my calm and caring nature, making it easy for them to trust me and quickly feel at ease. I’m currently working full time however I’m available most evenings and weekends. I spend time playing with them every day and take them for walks or provide toys to keep them active. plenty of affection help them feel secure and cared for.
“Alexi took such great care of our 6 pets! She got a really good introduction to their personalities at our met and greet. She had learned they love to be sung to when getting their post meal treat, and she did the singing for them while taking care of them! She gave great video and photo updates. I did not once worry about their care. I will definitely use her again!”
“Cindy took care of my 6 month old for a week. I am an anxious first time pet parent and she absolutely helped me get through the week in peace. She sent regular updates and pictures and I could see my little boy happy and playing in each of them. She is also super quick to respond. Thanks for all your help Cindy! We are thankful we found you.”

“Barbara was excellent in taking great care of my cat Pepper. She provided morning and evening updates with photos, and it made my heart melt to see the daily progress she was making with our cat who can have heavy separation anxiety. By the time we came back Pepper and Barbara and her son were best friends! Plus we came home to a VERY tidy house! Barbara’s communication was superb and I felt at easy while away from home knowing that Barbara was house sitting for us and taking care of our sweet girl. I could go on and on about how wonderful Barbara is. I will definitely be a repeat client!”

“Jasmine was incredible! Kept me well informed about what was going on with Baxter. Spent lots of time outside with him. I could tell he had a great time with Jasmine! Will definitely use Jasmine again in the future to house & dog sit.”

“She did such a great job staying with our two old lady dachshunds! Gave us the peace of mind we needed while we are away, with lots of photo updates, responsive, on time, and took great care of them and our home. Will definitely be having her come stay with the girls again!”

“Khadijah took great care of our Double Trouble Bandits (Jack Russell Terrior and Chihuahua Mix) LOL. She was extremely patient even with all of the initial barking. They both settled and eventually snuggled up with her. Thank you again and we would love to have you house sit again in the future.”

“Camila did such a great job, I will definitely be a repeat client. She was my my puppy all day at my home, and she kept me well informed with plenty off updates, pictures, and videos.”

“There is no better anxiety relief when you travel than knowing that your animals are safe. Medeline was wonderful with my dog, Bo and my cat, King. King did not pitch a fit when I got home from me leaving. Bo has a bit of separation anxiety and even he was easy to have calm back down when I got home. I felt safe having Madeline in my home with my animals and at ease knowing she was there for them. Will book again. Very happy.”

“Lauren was AMAZING and so so good with our quirky and silly dog. Our international flight got cancelled and she was even able to stay an extra day and we’re so thankful our boy had fun with her!!!!”
“Carolina stayed with Maggie for a week while we were in Portugal. Besides being very sweet and accommodating, she went above and beyond just watching Maggie. She got the mail, watered the flowers outside, checked the skimmer baskets in the pool for us, dealt with contractors who were working on the pool and yard, dealt with Comcast because the contractors cut the internet line and washed and changed the sheets. The house was left exactly as it was when we left. Best of all Maggie, who doesn't like strangers to touch her, warmed up to Carolina like we have never seen before. We received pictures and videos of Maggie playing with her toys with Carolina and letting her give her belly rubs like she does only with family! Carolina was our second sitter because we were gone for 2 weeks and couldn't find anyone available for the whole time, so she met with the first sitter who went over everything with her before she left. We would definitely book Carolina again and now we feel more comfortable leaving Maggie, when before it was very much a challenge and other options hadn't gone well (drop ins, staying at other people's houses). Most of all Maggie would love to see her again! She's a dog whisperer!”

“Bunny took great care of our pups while we were out of town. She sends lots of pictures and updates throughout and goes above & beyond to make sure our home and pups are well taken care of. Thanks!!”

“Chelsey was absolutely incredible! We were away on an international trip for over 10 days and she was the most perfect house & pet sitter for our sweet, old senior pup. I tend to have anxiety when we travel and Chelsey made sure to send me updates and multiple photos every day to help ease my mind that all was well back home. She showed such love and care for our pup Donut, and our home! She even went above and beyond when, due to flight delays and issues on our return trip home, we needed to have a friend stay unexpectedly for an additional night by washing our guest room linens and towels to make sure our friend had what they needed when she left. We will 100% be booking with Chelsey again and I can't recommend her enough for anyone who needs pet-sitting support! <3”

“Stephanie was a life saver. I had a short notice booking. She was able to fit in a meet and greet, which was very important because we have a high anxiety dog. She was sweet and calm with my dogs, and also playful for my high energy dog. And our high anxiety dog started to warm up to her after a day or so: She left our home clean and orderly. Would definitely recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fair Oaks
Thank you, Alexi. It was a pure joy to know that my Riley was in good hands while all three of us were away. Riley is a very spoiled dog that does not realize he’s a dog so he needs loving and caring people like yourself to sit with him and I appreciate you so much.

Lauren was absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much!!

5 stars! Hannah is our go-to sitter and always takes great care of our pets and home. Excellent communication, regular updates, and everything was in great shape when we got back. We never worry when Hannah is staying with Dakota and Watson. Highly recommend!

Jessica is someone we will always be booking from here on! She was fantastic with the medication needs of our senior cat, sent many photos, and our place was left in even better condition from when we left. Will absolutely continue to ask Jessica to watch our boys.

Cheyenne took wonderful care of our Aussie girl and our home. She was extremely professional and showed great care and attention throughout her stay. We received regular updates, and our Aussie got all the walks and exercise she needed. We would highly recommend Cheyenne and will be booking again soon.

Marija was great as a sitter for our 3 animals, and that she was enabling the animals to be in their own home, made it so much better than in a strange place. When Peaches got so frightened by the loud firecrackers, Marija knew just how to handle it and helped Peaches to be comforted. We hope Marija will be available the next time we need a sitter , because she is the best!
Renee was an amazing sitter for our dog, Riggs! She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared so much about him. We really appreciated the updates and knowing Riggs was in great hands while we were away. He was happy and well cared for when we got back, which says it all. We would absolutely book with Renee again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter. 🐾

This was our first time using Rover and I was very nervous about it. Elizabeth took good care of all our animals and sent photos and updates on all of our fur babies daily. Upon our return, our house was left in neat condition, and all our animals were content and happy.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fair Oaks on Rover is $52.14 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,633 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fair Oaks. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fair Oaks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fair Oaks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fair Oaks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fair Oaks. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
