“This was my first time bringing Lincoln to a sitters. He can be anxious and I was very nervous leaving him. Michelle was so patient and loving with him. She was kind, caring and attentive to all his needs. She knew exactly what to do to handle him when he became anxious or nervous. He loved her fenced in backyard and the walks he went on. When I came to pick him up he quickly went to Michelle and her husband to give them kisses goodbye. I will absolutely reach out to her for any future trips. She is the best!!! Truly an animal lover with much experience. Thank you again for taking such great care of him.”
“Angela and Michael took great care of our Molly. We're so grateful for their care and patience with our 14 year old pup! Their communication was prompt and helpful. Angela and Michael provided a wonderful, safe, and supportive environment for Molly.”

“First time using Sonia and she was great ! Will be using again she sent photo updates and has a great space for my two dogs to play. So happy my dogs were taken care of so well! Thanks Sonia !”

“Ami and her lovely family are the perfect place to leave your dog. Ami is so kind, flexible, and clear about what she needs to make your pooch’s time away from home perfect. I highly recommend!!”

“We traveled from out of state and needed someone to watch our pup while we were at Sesame Place and having our dog stay with Meghan was so helpful! Very flexible with pickup and drop off and sent lots of pictures of our dog enjoying his time there.”

About: I’ve been taking care of my special-needs pup, Dottie, for 8 years. She’s on a strict diet and takes meds too, so I’m good with following precise instructions. I have a loving and serene home where Dottie and I can welcome your pup. I work from home on Fridays, so I am available for boarding for long weekends. We could coordinate a Thursday evening drop-off if need be. On the weekends, I go to a pilates class and run errands, but am otherwise around as company for the dogs. My yard is only partially fenced, so I will be taking the dogs on leashed walks. Dottie sleeps in bed with me, so it’s okay if your pup needs to as well. If your dog is crate-trained, that is okay too.
“This is our 2nd stay with Christine. She has always communicated well with us on Chewie's stay. We love that she tries to watch only 1 dog at a time to keep her focus on the care of 1. We are already booked with Christine in Sept.”

“Chandar and his family are like a second home and family to Ruth. They truly love dogs and care for Ruth as if she’s their own (she’s already had 3 stays with them). And Ruth loves them, too!! They are so good to her and spoil her with belly rubs and miles-long sunrise and sunset walks. Chandar sends professional grade photos of Ruth with beautiful, artistic, and often charming backdrops (e.g., a hot air balloon, Princeton campus, dog zodiac statute). Chandar’s family is so welcoming, warm, and kind and it’s always a pleasure to see them when we drop off or pick up Ruth. They have also been incredibly accommodating, welcoming Ruth on short notice or letting her stay late. So happy that we met them!”

“Angela took care of my two dogs, Kylo and Loki. It is my first time using this app and the services. She went above my expectations. She sends me pictures and updates about them. She is also very responsive and flexible. Thank you.”

“Anish was absolutely amazing with our dog Max. Having being a long term dog owner, he knew all about how to handle our dog Max . I felt at ease from the time Max was dropped off till the time we picked Max up. Anish took the extra effort to make sure Max was taken for walks even in the pouring rain, and give him plenty of exercise and company. Max returned home happy, rested & well exercised. I highly recommend Anish to take care of your pet, its their home away from home.”

“Our pup was well taken care of and happy at Tao’s house. I received lots of photos while we were away for 12 days and appreciated the updates. Thank you for taking care of Turbo!”

“Bolo had the time of his life! Swapna was attentive, playful, and kept us updated with adorable photos. Bolo came home happy, tired, and clearly loved—couldn’t ask for better care. Highly recommend! 🐶✨”

“Megan and Jay are wonderful dog sitters! They kept me updated with pics of Teddy and told me how he was doing at least twice a day. He had a great stay and I believe was sad to leave. It made me feel very good that Teddy was so well cared for while we were on vacation.”

“Rachel took great care of our 15 year old terrier mix Cookie. She sent photos and messages to us everyday we were away. She followed all our directions and I felt relaxed and at ease knowing Cookie was happy. How do I know? Rachel reported that Cookie didn’t want her to stop rubbing her belly. Cookie does not let most people rub her belly!! That said it all!”

“Chas did a great job taking care of my dog Abbey while I went on vacation. I don’t travel often but my dog couldn’t come with me this time. It was my first time using Rover, but Chas made me feel at ease and comfortable by communicating with me and sending pics during Abbey’s stay. I appreciate her confident demeanor and friendly personality. Abbey was safe with Chas and had a great time hanging out with the other pups. I will use Chas again when needed! Thank you very much.”

“Karen and her husband embraced our Luna with so much love! She is an older dog and adjusted %100 to the new environment and other dogs. We are so grateful for the comfort it gave Luna and us as well! Thanks so much.”

“We feel so very fortunate to have had Joe and his wife Bonnie care for our 13 year old Westie, Ozzy, for 9 days. They sent updates and pictures and made us feel comfortable and confident that Oz was in great hands during this extended stay. They are true dog lovers and our sweet Oz had a very nice stay with them. Thanks so much Joe and Bonnie!”

“Roseanna was a great host for 2 beagles. They loved their time with her and her family. I would recommend Roseanna 100%, she went above and beyond to make sure the dogs had a great stay and kept us informed with photos and messages.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
