“Shanna was wonderful! Kelce was in such good hands. I received daily text messages and pictures to keep us updated. I loved her energy and care with our dog while we were out of town! Highly recommend!”

“Shantanice was just fantastic. She was super detail oriented when learning about our dog and his routines. She sent us pictures and videos every day while we were away and even checked out mail and took out our trash. The house looked exactly as it did the day we left it. We will absolutely use Shantanice again and can’t recommend her enough!”

“Erin is a great sitter. Fantastic communication and Rally was well cared for and she took great care and sent regular updates. We look forward to having Erin sit for us again soon.”

“Susan was so great with our dogs and they loved her too. Our shy girl is usually shy with new people but she went right up to her without hardly any hesitation at all. Susan followed all of the routine instructions I left for her and gave me updates on my doggos every day. Would love to have her stay for us again in the future. Thanks so much.”

“Samantha was the ideal pet sitter for our 2 dogs! Great communication from start and finish and kept us in the loop about the dogs while we were gone. Would highly recommend for anyone needing reliable pet support”

“Carolyn watched our two dogs over a long weekend and did an outstanding job. She also helped with things around the house like taking out the trash, and getting packages. But most importantly I could tell our dogs were being loved, played with, and cared for. We felt at ease knowing she was with them, and will definitely use her again for future dog sitting needs.”

“Alex is just phenomenal. She is so good with my animals, and while I think I'm a pretty good pet parent, I've learned some things from Alex. She's so respectful of my home. Best communicator of any sitter I've had, and her notes are often funny too. Alex is like family to both me and my cats and dog. We love her!”

About: I have cared for and owned animals of all shapes and sizes for my entire life, including dogs, cats, horses, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, pigs, and goats! I am very experienced in feeding, watering, cleaning up after them, administering medication and supplements, playing, and snuggling. I am also very active, so I would love to take your dog of any size on a walk or run! I'm currently working part-time and my schedule is very flexible, so I can easily work around your and your pet's needs! I will always treat your animals like they are my own, so their care and happiness is my number one priority, no matter what else is going on in my schedule. I am extremely clean, organized, and reliable. I used to work for the government with a Classified clearance, and I have been certified in CPR and First Aid. I am also very tech savvy and handy, so rest assured I will close and lock every gate, door, and alarm with ease.

“Erica took great care of our dog while we were away on our first trip since moving earlier this year. It gave us peace of mind knowing our pup was in good hands. On top of that, we came home to a clean, well-kept home, which we really appreciated. We would recommend booking with Erica. Thanks so much!”

“lilli did a great job. We visited quite a bit before and she asked tons of questions. When we came home, we could hardly tell she'd been there. All the rascally animals were happy and our place was clean, etc. We had used her before for dog walking and I'm sure we will call again.”

“Pamela was wonderful. Shoveled after the first snow, and kept the house clean while watching the pups. She would send lots of pictures and updates. Our pitty warmed up to her and we got lots of pics of her snuggling.”

“Lindsay was very quick to respond to any communication I sent. She also left our house clean, even after several rainy days which I knew the dogs would have tracked in dirty paws. I’ll definitely use her again.”

“We’ve had Susan twice now for our 2 little dogs. She is very conscientious and really seems to love them. I know they love her! She plays with them, takes them on walks, and most importantly to them, holds them. We know our fur babies are in great hands with Susan.”

“Reese did an amazing job: first walking me through how to introduce her to my anxious big dog at our meet-n-greet and on the first day of the sit. She regularly sent a ton of pictures of my three pets throughout the weeklong stay, which increased my enjoyment of my time away. And even though she caught a really bad cold while sitting, she remained extremely communicative and committed to staying with my pets until the day I was due home, which I greatly appreciated. And I also appreciated her efforts to make sure my home was sanitized and cleaned before I returned.”

“Abigail was absolutely amazing with our pups!! She sent update pictures all the time as the dogs looked like they were having a blast! We have already re-booked her to watch them again :)”

“I really can’t say enough great things about Maddie. She’s the first pet sitter we’ve ever hired and I immediately felt good vibes from her and felt I could trust her with my babies. She sent me pictures and updates and even drew a beautiful pictures of my Birdie Girl 🩷 My house was clean when we came home and nothing was out of place. I recommend her 100% and I hope to have her watch my babies again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Edwardsville
Susan is fabulous! This is the first time leaving our pets with anyone who is not a close friend or family, and she exceeded our expectations. She was wonderful with our very senior dog (even getting up to take her out in the middle of the night), and kept us up to date on how things were going throughout the weekend. She didn’t see much of our sweet skiddish kitty, but also ensured her needs were met. I would highly recommend Susan and will use her again if the need arises!

Sam did a fantastic job watching our dog Etta, she was so helpful and sweet. She gave us updates, pictures and made sure odds and ends were taken care of in the home. Etta even needed a little wipe down and Sam offered to make sure she was clean. We would absolutely recommend!

Kristina is simply the best pet sitter we’ve ever had. A++++! Attentive, responsive, and oh-so-loving, she cared for our chickens, dogs, and garden with such genuine heart. When the unexpected happened and we lost one of our chickens while we were away, Kristina handled it with grace, compassion, and calm — exactly what you hope for in someone you trust with your animals. She kept us informed every step of the way, sparing us no detail we needed while shielding us from unnecessary worry. She also went above and beyond to keep the rest of the flock safe. We can't thank her enough! Beyond navigating the hard moments, Kristina did more than we ever could have asked — keeping the garden watered, the house tidy, and our whole crew happy and loved. We feel completely at ease leaving home knowing Kristina is there and just so, so grateful to have her.

We had the pleasure of having Amanda take care of our two high-energy dogs while we were out of town, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! She kept us updated daily with pictures and notes, which really put our minds at ease. She was so great at handling our dogs' energy and gave them the attention and care they needed. Unfortunately, while we were away, my husband had a medical emergency and had to be admitted to the hospital, which meant we needed to extend our stay unexpectedly. Amanda was incredibly understanding and flexible, covering the extra time without hesitation. Her willingness to adapt to our changing situation was so appreciated during such a stressful time. We will absolutely be utilizing Amanda again in the future. She goes above and beyond what’s expected and truly cares about the pets she’s looking after. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edwardsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edwardsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edwardsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
