“Gary is super caring and at the same time super professional. Always making sure we are on the same page in regards to taking care of our loved dogs. Thank you, Gary!”

About: I've cared for dogs since I was young and have handled dogs both large and small. I've cared for cats since 2019, I am newer to them technically, but I love how different they can be. I run my own business, so making my own hours allows me a lot of wiggle room on doing check-ins or rearranging my day to allow for walks. My home is a temple to good vibes and my happy lil buddies (Sprout and Tansy) get along with everyone they've met so far.
“Erin took great care of my cats and sent me tons of photos and videos of them playing. I can tell everyone was well cared for and got plenty of attention. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again!”

“Clareese took such great care of my cats Hiro and Miso while we were away! She gave great updates, was super friendly, and very flexible with everything. It made me feel so much better knowing they were in good hands. You can tell she really cares about the pets she watches. Will 100% book with her again!”

“Lucas took great care of my two elderly cats. When we got back from our week away they were healthy and happy. Lucas even noticed that Cindy was scratching our couch and covered it with a blanket.”

“Mary is a start pet sitter in my heart. We made some mistakes by leaving the door locked, but Mary was super patient and got the problem solved. Thanks to Mary we had a wonderful holiday without worrying about the cats at home.”

“tony was great with my cats, he played with my kitten and gave some special one on one attention to my older cat. he also was able to give my cat her eye drop medication. he was very communicative and always sent pictures. would definitely recommend”

About: I had numerous dogs growing up and currently have one of my own, Finley, a Goldendoodle; I adore looking after pets and others. Dogs of all energy levels are welcome as I have a large yard, great for playtime, and plenty of space to accommodate others. Plenty of experience with medicines and special needs animals, too. Routine is key with time management to make sure there adequate time for play and adventure. Every morning starts with a walk, and I typically take my own pet to the park twice a day. My home has an enclosed backyard with ample space to run around. When house/petsitting, I’ll always ensure pets are on a leash before exiting to run errands or go for a walk.

About: I’ve grown up with dogs and have cared for many, whether that’s my own, family, friends, and neighbors. I have walked, cared for, and helped train all dog types. I do not shy away from large breeds and will match their energy. If you have anxious or shy pets I will put in the time to get to know them and make them feel safe. Senior dogs with most special needs I have experienced. I am currently launching a business that allows for flexibility. I am wanting to find a feel good passion project and this fits perfectly into my schedule throughout the day. I will treat your pet and home as if you are there, friendly and respectfully. Knowing a pet is inside I am aware of escape artist so I do show caution opening the door. Depending on the person and place I can do a sweep through the house to make sure there were no accidents from your pet as well. While in my care, I am very aware of my surrounding and typically keep an extra leash, treats, and doggie bag on me as well. Depending on the energy level of your dog, I can always take them for a little extra run if needed.
About: 🐶 Having been surrounded by dogs my entire life, I’ve developed a deep understanding and appreciation for their care. Growing up with dogs and raising my own, Harlow 🐾, from a puppy, has given me firsthand experience in fostering their well-being. My passion for animals extends beyond personal experience—participation in clubs at the Pittsburgh Zoo 🦁 provided me with valuable insights into animal behavior and care, further enhancing my knowledge. Being from Pittsburgh, I am fluent with many resources for me to enjoy with pets. 🐕🦺 My pet care journey started in 2014 with my first job at a dog care store on Butler Street, where I honed my skills in providing attentive and compassionate care. During my internship with the Water Authority in Bradford, PA, I dedicated my lunch breaks to volunteering at the local SPCA 🏠, offering love and attention to animals in need. These experiences have shaped me into a dedicated, knowledgeable, and empathetic sitter. 💛 As an alumni M.S. engineering student, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to caring for my pets. I can easily fit dog walks, feeding, and playtime into my routine, ensuring each pet gets the attention it deserves. My love for animals and adaptable schedule make it easy to prioritize their well-being. I currently care for two dogs, my mother's and her boyfriend's, and have hands-on experience managing their daily needs. At home, I ensure a safe environment with our fenced-in yard and always prioritize the pets' well-being. For my clients' pets, I’m adaptable to their specific routines, whether that involves feeding, walks, playtime, or creating a comfortable space. Every pet in my care receives love and attention tailored to their unique needs.

About: I'm a dog mom myself & I treat every dog with the exact same love, patience, and care that I give my own. I understand that leaving your pet in someone else’s care requires total peace of mind, which is why I prioritize strict attention to routine, safety, and proactive communication. I currently work from 7am - 3pm on weekdays. I am fully available on weekends and overnights. After 3pm on weekdays I am fully available for drop ins and walks. I have a fenced in yard, and a Golden Retriever who is very friendly and well trained. I make sure there is always a water in my dogs bowl and I am on schedule with her feeding times.

“I always appreciate Amanda’s personalized care of my cat. She communicates with me at least once a day & sends pics of Lou being Lou. 😺 I highly recommend her as a sitter. I’ve rebooked her for my next trip, already.”

“Kaylah was a wonderful kitty sitter! We were so happy to have her. She refilled the feeders and emptied the litter box even when I told her originally she wouldn't have to. The kitties were very well cared for!”

About: I have experience with overnight house sitting for my friends and neighbors, but have also been using Rover for approximately 5 years. I am also a pet owner myself for the past 8 years. I love dogs of all sizes and have a special place in my heart for big dogs! I do very well with cats and love bonding with them on their terms. I am a preschool teacher and work on weekdays from 7:30am to 6:30 pm (I work a lot of overtime) and am willing to check on pets in the evening. However, the time that I am at work makes it impossible to give dogs that need to be taken out on walks during the day an impossibility. I can house sit for cats during the week as long as they are able to be alone for the 11 hours that I will be gone. Feel free to ask any questions for clarifications or exceptions. I work more than full-time as a preschool teacher for about 11 hours per day. This makes house sitting for dogs over the weekdays impossible. However, I would be willing to take on house sitting for cats during the week if they are able to be alone for 11 hours. My weekends are completely clear and I can house sit for those days. My apartment will not be available to take in additional pets. My landlord has a policy on that. However, when working with other's pets, I have experience with leashing, harnessing, and walking safely with a variety of dogs or cats (yes, I have walked my cats before!). I am very conscious and situationally aware with my own pets and those of my friends, family, neighbors, and clients.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - East Pittsburgh
I always feel confident leaving my cat in the care of Amanda. She’s reliable & responsible. She’s also quite intuitive about what my cat needs and wants when she visits. I have booked her several times and will continue to call upon her when I need a cat sitter.

Savannah did an excellent job caring for my senior cat, Phoebe, who has some special medical needs including a daily oral pill. I’m always nervous leaving Phoebe alone overnight, but Savannah’s prompt and thorough communication helped put my mind at ease. She gave her lots of care and attention during her visits with Phoebe and took great care of my home as well. I will definitely rebook with Savannah if we need a sitter in the future!

Jessica is a friend you didn't know you had! She made everything smooth and easy. She cated for my cats as if they were her own. Not even the winter storm of the decade kept her away. And she even cleared a path to my house so when I got home after my trip, I wasnt snowed out. She took great pictures and amazing updates. always quick to respond, a very caring person. Hands down best sitter I've had. I couldn't thank her enough. Took away all the stress I would of had during my trip.

Kelly is awesome and very attentive to our critters. She communicated well when our one kitty had some issues with her pajamas (over grooming) and needed changing from soiling due to litter use and put her in her cone. She noticed our fish tank and the frogs had passed (from change of environment and water before we left, not her fault). She spent good social time with the kitties and was very nice to work with. I will hire her again! Thank you Kelly!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
