I will have yours and your pets best interest at heart when caring for them. I ensure that I will get to know your pet and treat them with the respect they deserve. I understand that all pets have differing comfort levels around new humans. So, I will pace myself with our meeting and go at the pace that your pet is comfortable with. My visits with your pet will be special. I like to take my time to get to know your pet(s) and bond with them to make them feel safe and comfortable around me. Whether your pet is outgoing or shy/timid, I will treat them as they desire. I happily send text and photo updates to put your mind at ease while your pet is in my care. Just as I will love and care for your pet, I will treat your home the same. Any and all instructions will be followed to maintain the safety and security of your home when providing walks, daily check-ins an/or overnight stays!
Information Emily G. would like to know about your pet
Before meeting you, the owner, and your pet(s) in person, I require a virtual meeting. This is imperative to ensure my safety. If our virtual visit goes well, and I feel comfortable to move onto the next step, we can move forward with scheduling an in-person meet and greet. This in-person meet-and-greet with your cat(s) and/or dog(s) is my first chance to make your pet’s acquaintance to see how they take to me and vice versa. I ask that our virtual meet and greet happen at least 1 week before the intended pet sitting date(s). Our in person visit I ask for this to take place at least 2-3 days before the intended pet sitting date(s). Let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors that I may need to be more attentive to. That way, I can prepare myself better for our first meeting to introduce myself to your pet in the safest and comfortable way possible, as well as care for them during walks/check-ins as best as possible. If your pet has any certain toys or activities they enjoy most, let me know and I will make sure they get to play with this toy or perform this activity over anything else! To ensure your pet gets the proper play time/exercise, please let me know of their activity level as well. I never want to assume how your pet(s) will behave or react in any and all situations. I want to make our visits as safe and positive as possible!
A typical day
I love taking long walks on trails or around the park, or simply around the neighborhood! I would be more than happy to take your dog for a long walk to provide good exercise and stimulation, but only if given permission by you, the owner. If you feel comfortable, I would be more than happy to take your pup on a trail walk as well! If I am caring for a cat, let me know of his/her favorite toy(s), favorite spots in the house to cuddle, and favorite treats! I have one high energy cat, so, I know how to provide a good time! I also have one low energy, very gently kitty of my own, so I can also provide gentle down time and pets to make your feline feel comfortable, in a slow, and gentle way. On the other hand, if your pet is super low key, I am perfectly fine with sitting in silence, or gently/quietly talking to them to let them I know I mean no harm. During a check-in visit, I can provide 30-60 minutes to spend with your pet to cure any loneliness they may be feeling, whether it be your cat(s) and/or dog(s). Visits will include plenty of exercise, play time, pets, and downtime as well, as per the demeanor of your pet. My attention will be 100% on your furbaby! Your pet(s) deserve valued time per visit! Whether I am visiting your pet for a daily walk or check-in, they are my number one priority!

Pet care experience
All my life, I have had pets (dogs, cats, and gerbils). My pet sitting journey began in high school and continued on through college. Even during the time that I was a full-time college student and part-time grocery store worker, I continued to graciously take on pet care duties for the 3 same families, such as daily dog walking, overnight stays, and daily check-ins. The pets I have the most experiencing caring for over several years are cats and dogs. The services I am comfortable to provide and well versed in are daily dog walking, daily check-ins, and overnight stays. I do have experience with providing oral medication and eye drops. I am happy to learn and become efficient in any other medication administration. I now am a young adult seeking more fulfilling work that aligns with my values of helping others and the community. Taking care of animals has always been a passion of mine. I am extremely excited to begin working with animals again to bring more joy into my life while also helping support my fellow pet parents around Pittsburgh!

Reviews

We feel so lucky to have met Emily. She takes amazing care of our two cats and is great about looking out for anything amiss in our house as well. She is awesome!!

Emily always takes such great care of our two cats. She is very thorough with her check-ins including photos and videos. She’s the best!!
Emily G. cancelled a booking after the stay began.

Great communication with us as always and she is respectful and patient with our boys, one of which can be pretty shy. We feel so comfortable having her take care of our cats.
