“Caitlynn was phenomenal. I’d never hired someone off Rover and was apprehensive but she blew me away. She sent pictures, ensured the dog got exercise, and was all around awesome. If I need to hire someone again, it would be Caitlynn! I know my pets are in good hands.”

About: I grew up around animals a lot and have loved them since i was a kid. When I was younger if an animal was hurt, I would always try to help figure out what was wrong with it, that’s why I treat every single animal like my own. I’m about to start college in august, but I always make plenty of time for pet sitting! I have hands on experience caring for my own animals, including 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a snake that I love very much. I'm responsible for feeding, cleaning, and making sure all animals are safe and well cared for! I have flexible availability and can provide pet care durning the daytime most of the week and will give a 3 day notice if something comes up! i always make sure pets are safe and cared for by following instructions closely, i am reliable and respectful of your home and will keep you updated, i will only do care at clients homes and won’t do boarding at my home due to my grandad :(

“Michael was great with our dogs (one very high energy)! He was responsive and thorough even though I had limited cell service on our trip away. We will definitely book Michael again! Thank you!”

“Tiffanie was wonderful, helping us out on short notice, taking wonderful care of our home and dogs, and sending great updates throughout. We will definitely be working with her again.”

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, goats, chickens, pigs, peacocks. You name it. I’ve been a huge fan of animals since I can remember. I’m super active outside and love taking pups out on hikes or walks. My last dog had to take meds so I’m also extra sensitive to pups that may need more present care. I’ve dog sat and house sat for many years before and just recently decided to give rover a try. I’m also a photographer so pics of your sweet pea will be guaranteed! I’m a photographer so my schedule varies. Sometimes I’m on a shoot or at home editing. I work part time at a restaurant wed-Friday so am unavailable those evenings. I am generous with my love with pets if they want that. If they are shy I will absolutely listen to what they need and let them warm up to me at their own pace. I am clean and respectful of others’ space and strive to make sure your sweet pup gets the activities they deserve.
“Elisabeth did an amazing job house sitting for us. We received daily updates with pictures of our sweet girls. We already have her booked for future trips. Highly recommend Elisabeth.”

“Alexis was amazing with Brody and Marco while doing house sitting at my place. She was prompt and took the time needed for both of my dogs since they both have different needs. She gave the medications as instructed and gave my boy Marco the extra time he needs due to his past and getting comfortable with people. She even did extra things I didn’t ask her to do. Thank you so much Alexis and I will definitely be in touch again when I need someone!”

“Mary has watched Bella for us twice now with additional weeks booked! She is absolutely wonderful with her and I am updated daily (multiple times a day!) about how she is doing! She treats her like one of her own and makes it much easier to leave Bella! I would highly recommend Mary!!”

“Pam was a great dog sitter! She saved us! At the last minute, a Rover sitter canceled and I contacted Pam and she immediately came over and agreed to watch the dogs. I knew they were in good hands when I met her. She is kind and sent pictures while we were away. Pam we really appreciate you!”

“Maddie is awesome. She’s house and dog sat for is while the family was on vacation to Disney. We messaged her with questions prior to booking a and she responded quickly.”

About: I’ve had pets my whole life. I love dogs and cats. I love animals and have no problem spending my free time taking care of and playing with some fur babies. I have a pug that I've had since she was 6 weeks old. I also have a cat who I took in after his old owner abandoned him. I currently work full time Monday-Friday 8-5pm in Charlottesville. I am more than happy to stop by after work if needed or if you want me to stay at your place I can take care of the babies before heading to work to make sure they are fed and worked. Can work with a lot of schedules. I do make and sell jewelry so there may be a few weekend days where my availability is limited due to already committed to a craft show In my house I try and take my dog out every 2 hours. In the summer my pug is sensitive to heat so we do short walks around our driveway. She is a bit spoiled and will not go outside in the rain so I do also have experience cleaning up puppy pads and encouraging their use. My cat is both indoors and outdoors so he goes to the bathroom outside but also have a litter box inside I clean every few days for him.
About: My family has had pets all my life, and I’ve been taking care of animals since I was 13. I have experience with pets with special health needs as well as those with busy grooming schedules. I adore both cats and dogs and will treat your pets like they’re my own. I’m a grad student from Virginia with a love for animals! Most of my classes finish in the afternoon, so I have plenty of time for your fur babies! I am confident and comfortable with both dogs and cats, and am more than happy to follow any special instructions you need me to. I can easily crate your pets as well give them medicine and stick to feeding schedules. I also love to spend time with your pets outside by going on walks and playing in the yard.
About: I’ve taken care of animals starting with my neighbor who relied on me for care taking, to my aunt who has her own dog business! I also have furbabies of my own which I care for; two dogs and one cat. As of right now usually am free after 6. Moving forward my schedule should be more open. Just shoot a text and see if we can figure something out 😊 In my home my dogs are leashed and we go for walks around the neighborhood. My cat stays indoors, but we enjoy playing and cuddling— she’s old. My doggies and I get out of the house sometimes and love to go on rides to the park
About: I absolutely love animals and have had them through out my entire life. I have experience from working at “Dogtopia” to “Home away from home, dog boarding”. I understand the importance of family and would love to be your dogs next best friend! I have experience providing care for a variety of animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health. I am familiar with cleaning and sanitizing animal housing and equipment, and can recognize signs of illness or distress. By feeding, walks, and playtime—with my personal habits like breakfast, exercise, and evening relaxation it helps to create a consistent, healthy routine. My successful routine with my 12 year old senior terrier includes early morning engagement to set a positive tone, scheduled midday breaks or mental stimulation to combat boredom, and structured evening bonding that eases stress. I have a 12 year old friendly Emotional support animal named Flower, who still loves to run and play. I also live close to the park, and have a crate if needed.
About: I’ve taken care of many pets in the past 7 years like dogs, cats, birds, and have even worked on a farm helping to take care of animals. I am currently in college, so I have some free time that i’d love to spend with different animals. I love playing and taking care of animals and love them to be part of my life. In other clients homes, I will abide by the rules they have and make sure that my visit runs smoothly. I will show the pet love and care to ensure that they are happy.
About: I am currently a college student studying zoo and wildlife biology, and I hope to have a career in either wildlife rehabilitation or working at a zoo. I have a good amount of experience with animals; I have been around animals my whole life, my grandfather was a veterinarian, and I have been pet sitting since high school. I also worked as a kennel attendant at Augusta Valley Animal Hospital. I currently volunteer at the Humane Society and have at the SPCA as well, walking dogs and performing other tasks. I am hoping to do some pet care over the summer to earn some money and get some more experience. I will be doing an internship 3 times a week, so I am only available 4 days a week. I live a little bit out in the country, so we have some land and a private and safe road for walks. There is very little traffic, so it is a peaceful area. I have not yet hosted a client's pet in my home, but I have a lot of experience and can follow detailed instructions for your pet to provide them with the best care.
About: I grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters rats, guinea pigs, ferret. Well-versed in pets and having to interact with them and give them love that they need whether it’s an hour day or all day and overnight. Currently doing this as a side gig, i work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11am-930 pm as my primary job but I would like to do it full-time. Available any day but i need notice to ensure it works with my work schedule. Currently in an apartment doesn’t allow pets, but I have a vehicle and I am able to transport your pets to a park or go to your house and give them love
“She was great! She came over earlier in the week to learn everything about our fur babies. She came over several times day to let out our dog. She sent us pictures and updates often throughout the day. She even checked in to see when we would be heading home to see if she needed to come one more time. She also respected our wishes of wearing a mask in the house. We highly recommend her and will be using her in the future!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dooms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dooms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dooms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dooms. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
