“I wish everyone had some like Ronda to check in on their animals. She always goes above and beyond for us, even when we need to book last minute. Thank you Rhonda!”

“Colleen was able to do a drop in visit very short notice for my dog, who can be nervous around new people and she did a great job! Really helped me out short notice which is so appreciated, and even sent me photos of my dog during the drop in visit. She responded quick and was very professional and kind. I will 100% be a repeat customer, and highly recommend her for anyone looking for someone to dog sit.”

About: I have been an animal lover my entire life and had dogs in my own home for 10+ years. I have had experience ranging from raising and training puppies to caring for senior dogs with special needs such as blindness and diabetes. I work remotely from my home and will make sure your pet has all the attention that they need. While I have your pet I will ensure they are only left alone briefly for necessary errands. I have a fenced backyard and one well mannered if energetic pup. Your dog will receive as much love and care as my own. From snuggles on the couch to long walks around the neighborhood and games of fetch in the back yard.

About: Hello! I've been caring for family members' and friends' cats and dogs for years, and I genuinely love spending time with animals. I know every pet has their own personality, routine, and preferences, and I enjoy getting to know what makes each one unique. I can't board pets in my home because my cats are very sensitive to other animals, but I'm happy to provide drop in visits, walks, and companionship in your pet's home where they're most comfortable. I'm comfortable administering medication if needed, and I'll always communicate with you throughout your booking by sending updates and photos. My goal is to help your pet feel safe and cared for while giving you peace of mind while you're away. I'm also happy to do a meet and greet beforehand so everyone (pets included) can get comfortable. I work from home full time, which gives me a flexible schedule for drop in visits and walks throughout the week. I have a standing meeting every weekday at 10:00 a.m., and any additional meetings are usually scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but I'm often able to plan visits around them. If your pet needs care at a specific time, just let me know. I'll always be upfront about my availability and do my best to accommodate your schedule. All of my services take place in your pet's home, where they can stay in a familiar and comfortable environment. I'll follow your instructions closely and stick to your pet's normal routine, whether that includes feeding, fresh water, walks, playtime, litter box or potty breaks, medication, or simply keeping them company. I'm comfortable caring for pets of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels. I'll treat your home with the same respect I would my own, and if I notice anything out of the ordinary, I'll let you know right away. You'll also receive regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing.
“Sarah was wonderful! She went above and beyond. Everyday, she'd send us a picture of our cat and a little message with it. Our cat doesn't warm up to strangers easily, but by the end of our trip, Sarah had managed to get on petting terms with her. She also alerted us that there was a power outage and made us feel totally secure knowing that our baby was safe in her hands!”

“Elizabeth was an absolute joy for my animals. She is also incredibly punctual and always on time. She went above and beyond everything! She took the liberty of picking up after my dog outside and scooped/changed my cats litter [both of those were not expected]. She also went out of her way to bring my trash and recycling to the curb realizing it was trash day! On our meet and greet my large German Shepherd and 2 cats immediately bonded with her, Elizabeth has a gift with animals. I have also used her in the past to stay with my animals for a few days while im out of town. She sends pictures and updates often and I truly felt at ease knowing she was there with them. Elizabeth takes her job very seriously and made sure to really stimulate and play with all of my animals. Whether you need someone to drop by, take your animals for a walk or stay with them for a few days, Elizabeth will absolutely get the job done and more. I will be using her services often!”

Anytime or anyplace, I am here for you and your babies! “Shelly did everything I asked her to do. She was great about posting updates each day. I have had sitters in the past who didn’t pay careful attention to instructions and texted me often while I was away. Shelly paid attention and handled this job as a professional. I would definitely hire her again!”

“Ray is the man!! He was great with both my cat and my silly lab. Being an ocean away from home was worrisome, but Ray made it easier on all of us, by keeping my fur-babies well cared for, and keeping me and my family aware of how they were doing. I have nothing I can say, but thank you!! =)”

“This is the second time I've booked cat sitting with Sheila and I always arrive home to happy cats! Even our extremely shy cat comes out of hiding to say hello and get some treats & pets from her. Highly recommend.”

“Miryam is truly an angel with my babies. From our very first meet and greet, I instantly had a good feeling about her especially when my girl cat immediately gravitated toward her. She has an amazing ability to care for all three of my cats, balancing their different personalities. She's playful and engaging while also knowing when to give them their space. As we all know, cats can be particular, but Miryam has always been gentle, attentive, patient, and welcoming with my babies ever since our very first meeting. I will always have complete peace of mind knowing my babies are in her care, and I couldn't recommend her more highly ◡̈”

About: I have loved dogs my whole life, and while my experience with dogs in particular is limited, I will give my all to caring for and protecting your pets. I’m comfortable caring for pets with various temperaments and energy levels. I have experience with caring for animals from inside and outside the home. Having had cats for most of my life I’m quite familiar with the habits and tendencies of multi pet households. I’m currently out of school for summer break, but I also have a flexible school schedule so I’ll be home and available to care for your pets in a part time capacity, but again I’m willing to work around things for my clients. There are also no children in the home but I do have three cats. I live in a home with a fenced in yard, I also home three of my own cats. I have my own transportation and can adapt to your needs. I aim to always be respectful of all clients homes and rules. I walk in with calmness and patience to make meeting and interacting with your pet as seamless as possible. My ultimate goal to look after the well being of your pet and meeting any requests/needs a client may have.
“Ivy has been absolutely amazing over the past month. She was able to hop right in two days after our little pup came home, and has been a godsend on my in-office days. Gilly loves her and enjoys playing and snuggles. I would definitely recommend her for her excellent communication, demeanor, and professionalism, and even as our pup moves to Puppy Preschool, we will still be working with Ivy whenever we need a sitter or a drop-in.”

About: Hi! Tiffany, metro Detroit, dog mom to two Australian Shepherds. I’ve had dogs for my whole life and I’ll care for your fur babies as if they were my own. I make my own schedule, so I’m happy to fit in drop in care and walks for your pets! There’s nothing better than a bit of quality time with a beloved animal. I’m very cautious and doting on my own dogs and have been lucky and grateful to always have people care for mine tenderly when I’m away, so in turn I will always go above and beyond to make sure yours are comfy, happy, and safe.

I have lots of time to take care of your family I call animals family because that’s what my dog means to me and I’m also trying to make this into a living and a career. About: Starting 5 years ago, I began working in the pet care field as a kennel technician. I have now added veterinary assisting to my repertoire, going on 2 years. This abundance of nuanced experience has allowed me to effectively to care for all pets sick or well, young or old, and small or large! I am currently a full time vet technician, but I can definitely fit in pet-sitting, walk-ins, and or dog walks throughout the week. I usually am home for free time and love to keep busy so I have flexible availability. I usually let my dog free roam the house when we are winding down after a walk or fetch. Interaction is key to a healthy mindset for pets, so I try to entertain them as much as possible!

About: I volunteered all throughout my high school years at the humane society and still try my best to help out and donate when I can. I have three pets, and have had many more in my life and hope to have even more when I’m given the proper opportunity and safe environment. Through my years of being a pet owner I know that animal care isn’t all that easy and isn’t for everyone. It requires hard work, patience, and lots and lots of research. I pride myself in being vigilant with care instructions as every animal is different even when it comes to the same breed. I work a part time job where I find out my schedule weekly. My job entails a 4-7 hour shift where I am completely free after. I am also a student but have yet to begin courses for the fall. I’m a lover of all animals and understand the importance of care and attention that comes with taking care of our furry friends. As a cat parent myself, I wouldn’t want anything but the best and most attentive sitter and through that experience, I have the drive and need to make sure all pets are getting the care and stimulation they need as animals. I also have two parakeets and while having a cat and birds in the house wasn’t easy at first, through training and lots of patience I successfully managed to have my own kitty befriend our two parakeets.
About: I have been around all types of dogs and cats since I was born. I take my 3 dogs on walks together almost everyday. I volunteer at the animal shelter in Lansing and Dearborn. I have been around veterinarians, so I know how to handle dogs and I notice behaviors that might mean they're sick or have an issue that can be addressed. Sometimes people are used to their dogs doing certain things that are actually irregular and should be treated. I work part time so I have plenty of time to walk dogs and stop in for feeding and play time multiple times a day! I've been around dogs and cats my entire life and have extensive hands-on experience caring for them. I have two dogs that I walk together almost every day, and I volunteer at animal shelters, working with animals of all breeds and temperaments. Through my experience around veterinarians, I've learned to safely handle dogs and recognize behaviors or symptoms that may indicate a health issue, allowing me to identify concerns that owners may not always notice.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Dearborn Heights
I recently started a new job, and was nervous about going into the office and leaving my buddy at home. Sheila has been absolutely AMAZING for my Mac. I come home to a sleepy dog, instead of an anxious dog. They've given me complete ease of mind, and I couldn't recommend them more!

Sarah took excellent care of my girls. This was my first time leaving them. They are independent young cats, but have not been left alone. Sarah came before for a meet and greet and to explain what she does during her visits. I received updates and photos as well. We will definitely be requesting Sarah in the future. ❤️

Sophie is the best! She was able to accommodate a last minute drop by for my dads cat, she was the only one in the area that helped me and I’m so grateful! She followed all instruction, made sure to give his cat some love and communicated very well. I highly recommend.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
