Safety, trust & environment

I ask pet parents about routines and feeding schedules. In my home, I use a baby gate to keep dogs from escaping out of open doors. My back yard is fenced and I supervise dogs when they go outside. I have a large crate for dogs who need to be crated when left alone or for dogs who are comforted by being crated. I only use a crate for dogs who use them at home. When I’m house sitting, I take a similar approach, but I also double-check the home is secure when I leave.

Information Sarah R. would like to know about your pet

I like to meet with potential clients so I can get to know their dog before the actual stay. I also like dog moms and dads to know who they're leaving their baby with. During this visit, I like to find out about the dog's personality, quirks, likes and dislikes. I don't have any breed preferences, although I do have cats, so I don't like to host dogs who like to chase/terrorize/kill kitties.

A typical day

My neighborhood is very dog-friendly and very walkable. I am also near Hines Park. For hot days, I have a kiddie pool for pups who like the water. We also play in the backyard with balls, frisbees, etc. Your dog's sleeping arrangement I encourage owners to bring their dog's bed, blankie, and anything else that will help their pup feel at home. With few exceptions, almost every dog that has stayed with me wound up sleeping in my bed (I don't mind if they do)! Time I'll spend with your dog I work from home, so your dog will be with me most of the time and will get lots of attention. We take walks, play in the yard, go swimming, etc. I believe in helping my guest dogs settle in by giving them space, letting them explore, and letting them get comfortable at their own pace. My home is generally pretty quiet, but I provide daily walks and/or outdoor play time.

Pet care experience

Notice: I require proof of a current rabies vaccine prior to booking. Your fur baby will receive the same love and care as my own. I've always had dogs and cats in my life and I have experience with all kinds of breeds, including pit bulls, retrievers, and terriers. I can accommodate most dogs, but I cannot board dogs who have a high prey drive. I require a Meet & Greet before your first booking. I live in a typical Detroit-area brick ranch with a fenced backyard (privacy fence against a chain link). I never leave dogs outside when I'm away from home and although the yard is fenced, I supervise and play with my guest dogs when they're outside. Please send me a request if you are interested in booking. I'd love to set up a "meet & greet"! Thanks for considering the Howliday Inn! Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover my whole life. I've owned a Springer spaniel, two Labrador retrievers, and an American bulldog. I have experience with many breeds and can handle just about any dog. I've hosted everything from teeny little 7-pound terriers to a 150 pound Newfoundland. I no longer have a dog of my own, so dog sitting lets me be a dog mom a few days at a time. About my yard I have a typical suburban Detroit backyard - fenced on all sides with a gated driveway. I have a large deck on the back of the house and a small/medium grassy area. Although my yard is fenced, I never leave my guest dogs unattended while they're outside. My experience in administering medication I have only administered oral medication.
