“Emily has watched Lilly for me multiple times. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for an individual who ensures their dog is well taken care of and is loved on during their stay. Lilly is always in high spirits when I pick her up and it warms my heart to know she is being active and playing with other dogs.”

“Linda was great with my dogs. She sent pictures and videos and even let them stay an extra night after I realized I got my dates wrong. I will definitely book with her again!”

“Joe is awesome! He’s kept our dogs 6 or 7 times and they’re always so happy when they’re with him. He doesn’t send daily pictures or updates unless you ask, but if you need to reach out he is very responsive to communication. When Joe keeps the dogs, we know that we can enjoy our time away without having to worry and we know that they will be well taken care of! I highly recommend him for your pet sitting needs!”

“I have a 12 yo German Shepard. He's an old man now. We were going away for New Years and our normal sitter wasn't available. I was apprehensive about leaving him with someone new. Karin was spectacular. She was attentive to his needs and careful about his 'age' related shortcomings. She has a pup of her own and a young son who loved my boy. Karin sent plenty of pics of him and was very communicative during his stay, asking questions to make sure behaviors were normal and making sure he'd tolerate the environment there! I don't know how many stays my old man has left in him, but Karin is definitely the person I'd want watching him when I leave!”

“Derik and Megan were so patient with our St. Bernard and took every step to help her overcome some anxiety issues during her stay with them. They were communicative with us and were knowledgeable about dog behavior which played a role in being able to respond to our dog’s needs. Would absolutely go back to them!”

“Elya was by far the best dog sitter we’ve found on Rover. She was so intentional to spend time with our dog, taking her on walks and giving her a bath during her stay. It felt like we were dropping our dog off at a friends’ house rather than just a boarding place. Easily 5 stars!!!”

“Kathelyn was so sweet. She was able to take my dogs last minute and was able to handle my one dog who is a crazy ball of energy. I could tell that my dogs were happy and had fun making new friends. ***For once I wasn’t worried about leaving them.”

“Bill was amazing! He helped me out last minute when it didn’t work out with a sitter and I had to travel the next day. He had a great fenced in yard and quiet neighborhood so I felt at ease having Ni Ni there. Bill sent updates and took wonderful care of her. Will definitely book again!”

“Nate and Whitney took exemplary care of Murphy while we were on vacation. This was our first time leaving Murphy with a sitter and they made sure we knew he was well taken care of. They sent pictures of him and kept us updated of how much food he was eating. 10/10 recommend.”

“Minty watched our large dog for 8 days in her home while we were out of town and we had an amazing experience with her. She sent us multiple daily updates and made us and our dog feel comfortable. We would definitely have her watch our dog again in the future!”
“I don’t have words… was so great! My girls were sooo happy. Katherine is now at top of my sitters list. I just moved and can’t tip right now but, I will reward with Hispanic delicacies ??”

“Thank you Amber, for taking on the care of Roxi. We appreciate, dog sitters like you, who jump into action at the last minute, this was Roxi first dog sitting experience, and she seems to be well taken care of. Thank you, from my family to yours!!”

“Ashley treated my pup to a great stay by taking the time to learn about him beforehand, maintaining his routines, and meeting his (often excessive) demands for belly rubs and snuggles. She provided me with updates and photos too. An overall great experience!!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better first Rover experience with Jacob. We were pretty nervous about leaving Reina since she’s a rescue and can be a little anxious around new people, but Jacob immediately put us at ease. He took the time to meet with us beforehand, asked thoughtful questions, and even took notes about Reina’s routine, what she likes, and her do’s and don’ts. It was obvious he genuinely cared about making her feel comfortable. While we were away, he kept us updated with plenty of pictures and communicated with us consistently, which made a huge difference and allowed us to actually relax on our trip. Every update showed us that Reina was being well cared for and getting lots of attention. If you’re looking for someone who is patient, communicative, and truly cares about your dog, we highly recommend Jacob. We’ll absolutely be booking with him again. Thank you for taking such great care of our girl!”

“Our Cosmo loves going to Arlissa’s. He has so much fun and gets lots of love. We love how she keeps us updated on his stay. She sends great pictures and wonderful videos.”

“Joanne was wonderful! She sent frequent updates and our dog was well taken care of. It was such a relief to see our dog relaxed and playing with her dogs while we were away!”

Kathelyn was great with my pups. It was a last minute booking and she and her husband were amazing. She sent photos and a video. My small dog sometimes takes time to warm up to people but he seemed to do just fine. She was very responsive to my messages. I would definitely use her again if we come back to Dayton again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
