“Donna was a great fit to watch our pups! My older pup can be nervous around new people but after just one meeting with Donna, she was able to trust her and love her like family. Donna arrived on time every morning and every evening to watch our dogs while we were away. She communicated how the pups were doing, how much they ate and what activities they did during her visit. I would highly recommend her! We felt so happy knowing our pups were in the best hands and getting plenty of belly rubs!”

“Devan was wonderful. We contacted her on very short notice and she not only responded within minutes but was able to accommodate our last minute request. Huntington loved her! Can’t recommend her enough.”

“Ashley was so kind to my cat while I was away. She was patient and loving with little feisty Inzo and she showered her with love and treats. Ashley followed house rules and left detailed notes of the visit and sent pictures. I would definitely recommend Ashley to take care of your fur babies! Thank you Ashley! :)”

“She followed directions and took excellent care of our two pups and baby bunnies. This is our 3rd family vacation using Zoe and she is always wonderful. Thank you Zoe for putting our mind at ease hundreds of miles away from our fur babies!”

“Diana did a great job with my puppy! I’m so thankful to have found her when I did to care for my puppy while I was on a work trip. Highly recommend booking if you’re looking for a sitter that’s responsive and communicative!”

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember! Growing up with dogs and cats, my family always treated our pets as family, and I’ve carried that same philosophy into adulthood. In 2019, I adopted a senior cat who was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after joining my family. For the next three years, I dedicated myself to making his golden years as happy, healthy, and comfortable as possible. From administering insulin twice daily and keeping up with his care routine to encouraging exercise, playtime, and plenty of affection, caring for him taught me so much about patience, attentiveness, and the importance of understanding an animal’s individual needs. After saying goodbye to him in September 2023, I decided to take a break from pet ownership, but my love for animals hasn’t gone anywhere! In recent years, I’ve continued caring for friends’ cats and dogs, and I’m excited to get back into a regular routine of spending time with furry companions before eventually adopting again. My friends and family like to joke that I’m an “animal whisperer” because animals of all personalities seem to gravitate toward me! Whether they’re energetic and playful, shy and reserved, or simply looking for a cozy spot to curl up, I genuinely enjoy getting to know what makes each animal unique. I approach every pet with love, patience, and respect for their routines and comfort levels. I know how much trust goes into leaving your furry family member in someone else’s care, and my goal is to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Plus, I’m always excited for an opportunity to make a new fur friend!
“Victoria was a great sitter for my kitties! Fast response time, attentive, and took the cutest pics of my fur babies while I was away which was comforting to see! Will definitely reach out to her again for my next trip. 😊”

“I was in a bind and needed someone to watch my dogs on short notice of about 2 weeks it wasn't sure if I can find anybody. I was looking on Rover and came across Jennifer and all I can say is that my two pups Cosmo and Ginny absolutely loved her! Due to an illness though I had to cut her watching my dog short. She was helpful and took care of everything. I would highly recommend her to anyone and I am planning more trips in the future, so I know who I will be calling. Thank you again for all your help.”

“Zach is awesome! He's been dropping in on my dog Alf for months now, making me feel at ease while I'm at work. He is quick to respond to any questions and always keeps me updated throughout the evening. I couldn't recommend him more!”

“My puppy was so well cared for! Liz is reliable, kind, and clearly great with dogs. I appreciated the updates and knowing Boston was happy and safe while I was away. I’d definitely recommend and will book again!”

About: I have had many different pets since I was a young kid. Cats, dogs, birds, snake, rats, bearded dragon and a hedgehog. I am now 31 with 2 rescue cats, a rescue dog & another dog we got at 7 weeks in 2020 (all covid babies) we love them so so much, they are my children. I don’t have any special training but I am very patient, loving, experienced & happy to just hang with your pets!! I am a bartender and mainly work nights. So I am free during the day. I also only work about 3/4 days a week, so I have plenty of time to show your pet the proper attention. I have a full fenced in yard. 2 dogs, 1 rescue mix (65lbs) 1 pug/schnauzer mix (23lbs). 2 cats (1 acts like a dog herself) my pets have free roam of the house but I will crate yours if you prefer. I will abide by your rules!
“We’ve had the pleasure of having Jean for drop in visits with our chihuahua for the past few months. So happy to have found her. These little dogs aren’t that easy but we feel very assured he is in good hands. Jean helps me navigate the rover app, is reliable and gets back to me promptly.”

Kaylie has been amazing with my two kitties who are not the easiest to care for. She consistently sent photos and details daily of all of their happenings and knew exactly what to do to calm them down. She has been just a pleasure and I HIGHLY recommend her! I will be using her again for all of my trips!

Shannon did a superb drop-in visit for our Zach and Zelda. I appreciate her great follow up communication (and pictures) in taking wonderful care of our pups. Our Zach has epilepsy and it is reassuring to know that she administered his medication timely, gave them supper and let them outside. Thanks again, Shannon!

Attentive, kind, and so loving to my boys! Tessa was always on time and sent lots of pictures that showed how much fun they were having at her visits. Having two larger dogs means I'm very selective with who I trust with them and I would definitely reccomend Tessa and look forward to having her watch my boys again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
