About: I had three miniature dachshunds until they all eventually passed away from old age. I treated them as if they were children. I am very in tune with an animal’s needs and emotions. Animals that I have never met before, usually take to me right away. When I cared for my father-in-law’s dog for two weeks, he did not want to return home with him….lol. I hate to see any animal suffer or be in danger. I go as far to remove turtles from the road so that they do not get hit and I have tried to save numerous injured birds in the wild. Animals, especially, dogs, provide so much unconditional love. I am a retired law enforcement officer. Thus, I have a lot of availability. I am available Sunday-Saturday 24 hours as long as I am provided at least a short notice. I have a fenced in back yard that I always ensure is securely locked at all times. I would pet proof home ensure no medications or cleaning products, etc are accessible to pets. Also, I would only feed what the owner wanted the pet to be fed.

Cathy is an absolute gem. From the first meeting with her we knew she would be a perfect fit for our girls. Her love for animals truly shows through when she takes care of Bella and Mia. Being Italian Greyhounds, they can be a bit on the quirky side, but she took it in stride. Her updates and pictures through out the day are above par for any sitter we have had. Looking forward to having Cathy house sit for us again soon.

Alicia is a dream come true pet sitter. These little fur balls are our everything and she treated them as if they were own. We went out on a day trip knowing they were well taken care of. She sent several pictures which made us feel even better. We will definitely be using Alicia again. Thank you Alicia 😊

This was my first time leaving my babies Maggie and Milo for a trip and I was absolutely terrified of it. I was very worried about Maggie in particular because she has separation anxiety and doesn’t warm up to strangers. When Elizabeth saw that Maggie wouldn’t eat whatsoever, she went to the store and bought some food that helped with her appetite. She even took Milo to the vet since nobody else could take him and began administering his meds. I struck gold with Elizabeth who went above and beyond to gain their trust and take care of them. She also did all she could to reassure me and has won my trust. She took such good care of my dogs and I highly recommend her. Definitely will be having her dog sit my babies again when necessary!

Krista was really wonderful. We needed someone with patience and vigilance to watch our very new to us puppy, senior dog and cat for a full day. Krista offered to stop by beforehand to meet us and we clicked right away. She was timely, trustworthy and fantastic with our pets. She sent me photos and updates throughout the day, followed all of our complex puppy directions, and kept the house just the way we left it. We would be thrilled to have her back, and I think our pets would agree!

Leeah was a lifesaver for me! She agreed to stay with my cat buddy Frank when I had to leave town suddenly. She was wonderful with Frank and a great communicator. She sent me new glamour shots of Frank and gave him lots of cuddles. I'd love to have her stay with Frank again.

We had Mackenzie watch Jasmine and Rudy for a day, as a trial for a longer stay later on. We are super happy with both Mackenzie's care for the doggos and also her responsiveness and communication with us. She followed our instructions thoroughly, kept us updated, and responded promptly when we reached out. Thank Mackenzie!

This was our first time using Rover so we had no idea what to expect. I've never had someone stay in the house but Tara took away all of those worries. She was AMAZING at being available last minute when our original Rover booking cancelled 4 hours before we were leaving on vacation. She was in constant communication, even when I probably sent too many messages asking how the dogs were doing :) I would highly recommend as she asked all the right questions and had the right personality to be patient enough with my dogs who are always a little anxious towards strangers.

Alexis was what I needed!!! She came on time! She did a great job communicating with me! She was very attentive to my fur son! She played with him, gave him attention, and was just there for him overall. She followed my schedule that I left for him, too! She returned my home to me the same way I’d left it for her, which was appreciated. She is truly a sweetheart and my son absolutely adored her! I’m grateful I took a chance, and will continue to use her services again as long as she’s on the platform.

About: I’ve been caring for pets since high school and bring decades of hands‑on experience with cats and dogs of all sizes. I’ve cared for puppies/kittens, seniors, given diabetes shots, changed diapers, and handled everything from Sheepdogs to Chihuahuas. I have two small, friendly dogs, a senior cat, and a fully fenced backyard. If your pet is dog‑and cat‑friendly, I’m happy to host them short‑ or long‑term. I truly love animals of all kinds. I am happy to come over and check on your baby, take them for a walk (or stroll), throw a ball or play light flashing, or even daycare for them at my home. I work from home all but two days a week and can modify that as needed. My job is flexible so I am able to take breaks and work my around your schedule. I have a fenced in yard and am able to care for your baby as needed. My job is flexible so I am able to take breaks and work my around your schedule.

We think Courtney is a 5 star dog sitter. We had her over before our trip to meet Benny and they were playing together quickly. After we spent some time with her we felt comfortable having her stay at our house and take care of him. She stayed with him the whole time we were gone and walked him at least 3 times a day. Our neighbors met her while she was walking him and told us he seemed happy. She also sent pictures and kept us updated which we really appreciated. We could tell Benny had a lot of play time. The house was well kept and she took care of plants and other things we asked her to do. Benny seemed sad when she left. We will definitely ask her back.

Angie was amazing! She stayed for five nights while we were out of the country, and we couldn't have felt more comfortable having her in our home taking care of our two high-maintenance fur babies. We knew from the moment we met Angie during the Meet & Greet that we found someone very genuine, who has a special gift with animals. She is incredibly professional, caring, knowledgable, and reliable. We highly recommend her.

Words cannot say enough about how awesome Kristine is. In one chance selection of sitter off of Rover which I haven’t needed in quite some time, we have not only gained a trusted sitter for our fur baby, but a trusted friend as well. Kristine was not only the most amazing with our Ellie, but handled plumbing issues, changes in schedules and all the other unexpected things we threw her way! 10/10 is not enough to say how great she truly is. Absolutely, do not look any further for someone to trust your babies and your home too!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Coal Mountain

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Coal Mountain on Rover is $50 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,295 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Coal Mountain. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Coal Mountain walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Coal Mountain maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Coal Mountain choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Coal Mountain. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
