“Seriously Patrick is the ONLY person outside of immediate family that we trust with our pups. They love him so much and he does what we ask I terms of their care (they are just spoiled, nothing medical or any like that. I’m 100% confident he would take care of them if that were the case though lol) We are still surprised we found such an amazing pet sitter.”

“Colleen did an Excellent and detail attention to my cats, timing, activities with them, and duration of each visit exceeds my expectations! I will definitely look for her next time.”

“Shayna has probably been one of the best sitters I’ve ever had period. Extremely attentive to my pup and cat and always so detailed with her visits. My cat was even eating my new plant and she hid it from him to make sure it wasn’t destroyed by the time I can back 😂. Have nothing but trust every time she watches the animals.”

“I was able to find Jennifer quickly on the Rover app. I chose her by her profile and her close proximity to where I live. She responded very quickly to our request thru the app. She came for a short visit so we and our doberman could meet her. I wanted her also to feel comfortable with our large dog. We needed someone to come a couple of days around midday to fed, potty, walk and play our very active 8 month old 60 lb dog. We had her come for an hour each day. It was also the first time we were leaving her all day. Jennifer did exactly what was asked and says she looks forward to helping us out again. I know we will use her in the future.”

“Tara is fantastic! You can tell she really enjoys her job! She is timely, thorough and loving! Tara took great care of our big boy kitty Bela, she took time to get to know him, Bela loves to play and Tara was great playing with him, above and beyond what was expected! Tara is great with communicating and sending pictures, we felt very comfortable leaving Bela in her care. We will definitely request her again the next time we need care for Bela! We highly recommend Tara W!”

About: I have over 13 years experience doing vet assistant and vet technician tasks and skills as a volunteer at The Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge, IL. I have been employed as part of the membership and philanthropic department at Lincoln Park Zoo from which I learned a great deal, stemming from my biology classes on taxonomy to zoology, to specific animal facts and conservation of threatened animals. I therefore know a great deal of educational background on animal behavior. I studied psychology and comparitive human psychology/animal behavior with a bachelors in science from IIT. I have grown up with dogs, cats, and ferrets. At Southwest Animal Care Center, I bathed, fed, walked, medicated, and cared for boarding and patient animals. I graduated with my veterinary assistant certificate in 2018. After graduating from IIT, I became a kennel attendant and learned a great deal about how to care for animals. Pet care is a daily task for me as I take care for two little fuzzbutt ferrets, Icarus and Agatha. Icarus often wakes me up with his bushy tailed excitement. I'm lucky to have such wonderful critters in my life. Right now, I am only offering dog walking and off-site at client's home services. From what I've read from the anthropologist book "Inside of a Dog" by Alexandra Horowitz, animals, especially dogs, crave human attention so being attentive to an animal's needs is to me, what's most important. This includes communicating with animals to know when they need a bathroom break, when they want play, when they want affection and cuddles, when they want nappy time, being fed according to what their schedule is, and of course, offering healthy treats (if allowed) and new novel smells, toys, etc. I can manage 4-5 walks per day with one or multiple dogs at a time 5-6 days a week. This is my main job and I'm dedicated to providing top care as if they are my own. I take extra care to be a courteous and contentious guest in the owner's home. I treat my stay with respect and humbly care. You can trust me to provide excellent care and keep everything tidy and clean.

About: I love dogs. I have had one Doberman, one mutt who was the best, and two English Mastiffs. I had a dog everyday of my life until five years ago when my 200 pound English Mastiff named Max died. It broke my heart and hasn't felt right to replace him. But I love dogs and cherish watching the relationship people have with their dogs. I say hi to every pooch on the street that I pass. Rest assured, your dog will be treated with the utmost friendliness and care imaginable. I work from home so your dog will always have a friendly companion around. A side note. No Pit Bulls, No Rottweilers, No Stafford Terriers, No Husky of any sort, and No Doodles of any sort. I'm sure if any of these five dogs are part of your family that you are a wonderful person and so is your dog. However, they are far from my cup of tea. I work from home. I'm home basically all the time. And other than that, I just work on landscaping my front and back yards. I have a fenced in yard. Your pet is in great hands. I work from home. “I will never go to another sitter, ever! She takes care of my cat who is an absolute terror to people, and Ethel is bery kind to her. She goes above and beyond every time I have her!”

About: As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing safe, loving care. Whether it’s walks, feeding, playtime, or companionship, I’ll treat your pets like family and follow their routine closely. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to provide consistent care and attention for your pets. I’m happy to work with you to find times that fit your needs. I care for pets as if they were my own. I pay close attention to their safety, behavior, and comfort, follow all instructions carefully, and make sure they receive plenty of love and attention.
“Amanda was great!! She came for a drop in for my two dogs and I could tell was very mindful of their care and truly wanted them to have a good time. I could tell they were happy and had a nice break when I got home and would definitely book with her again! Thanks Amanda!!”
About: I’ve always had a natural connection with animals, especially dogs, and finally welcomed my own pup, Leia, into my life five years ago. Since then, I’ve handled all of her training, walks, feeding schedule, etc., myself. I learned a lot from years of watching "It’s Me or the Dog," and put what I've learned into practice with my dog, Leia. What sets me apart is my mix of genuine love for dogs, hands‑on training experience, and a calm, reliable presence. I’m excited to meet your pup and give them a walk they’ll remember; one that’s safe, stimulating, and tailored to their personality. I am a college student at DePaul University, majoring in Finance and Criminology. I commute on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I am free to walk your furry friend any day that isn't Tuesday or Thursday :) I have one energetic five-year-old Wheaton terrier whom I have trained by myself. I walk her at least once a day, feed her, play with her, and train her when time allows. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow your established rules and routines to ensure your dog feels comfortable and stress‑free. I pay close attention to safety — from securely leashing during walks to double‑checking doors, gates, and feeding instructions. My goal is to treat your pet and your home with the same care and respect I give my own.

About: I have plenty of experience with both dogs and cats. I have been working in a dog/cat boarding and daycare facility for a little over a year now. At work, we are responsible for providing individual care for each animal staying with us; we are in charge of providing them with playtime, feeding them, giving meds, and more. Personally, I have had two cats going on about 15 years now, and I have had two dogs (a lab mix and a pit mix) for about five years. I also have the experience of being a dog walker volunteer at a humane society! Right now, I am on summer break and home from school, and I am currently only working a part-time job. On days I do work at my part-time job, I’m usually working from 8-230pm 3-4 days a week, so I will usually be available outside of that time period on my working days. On non-working days, I typically have open availability. Since I am around animals pretty much 24/7, caring for them is part of my usual routine, making me very passionate and comfortable around animals. Unfortunately, one of my dogs is reactive and doesn't take well to new doggy friends, so care at my house would not be possible. However, in terms of staying in the owner's home, I would bring over some toys and other things dogs love, like treats, and I could even bring a splash pad for those who like water! I would make sure the dog is my number one priority and be on top of what their daily needs are. For cats, plenty of catnip and fun will be involved!
“Tara really helped us out by taking care of Monarch when our normal sitter was unavailable and we had a funeral to attend to. Monarch gets a little anxious and jumpy with new people but Tara didn’t give up on him and eventually won him over. Tara took good care of Monarch.”

“katy was so great with our two dogs. she had great communication and notes with photos so we knew what they were up to during the check-ins. she's very sweet and i can tell she really cares for the animals she cares for!”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
