I'm very happy with Maggie who stayed at my home with two dogs and a cat for 3 days, 2 nights. She's obviously an animal lover and they all like her. My home looked great on my return and all the pets were happy. I am using Maggie again in the near future and am comfortable recommending her for overnight stays.

We couldn’t ask for anyone better than Kaylee! She takes the absolute best care of our dog and cat while we are away that we never have an ounce of worry. Our animals love her, and she is extremely reliable and great with communication. We cannot recommend Kaylee enough, we wish we could give her 10 stars. Thank you!!

Sydnee was an absolute shining star of a sitter. She took fantastic care of my big boy Clyde (130 lbs, Great Pyr), and was very prompt and responsive to all messages. My house was well taken care of as well. I really appreciate how detailed her messages were and how her updates included lots of pictures from different points of the day. I really felt that she took it to heart to stay close to Clyde and give him the companionship and support he needed. I would 100% recommend her to anyone in need of dog/house sitting, and especially those who need a person who can handle a big breed.

I'm so happy I found Rebecca to care for my 2-year-old German Shepherd/Border Collie Mix. Pepper is a rescue and is always tentative around visitors and guests. I'm rarely separated from her and was worried about separation anxiety. But after a short time, Bernadette and Pepper were getting along very well. She is very gentle and loving and the only problem was Pepper wanting to shower her in affection! :). Rebecca stayed in my home and took care of everything while I was away. She is 100% trustworthy. I am happy to recommend Rebecca and won't hesitate to use her services again.

We always feel a little wary leaving him but it makes it a lot easier having someone like Alivia to take care of him. I wholeheartedly recommend her to look after your pets!

About: As a pre-veterinary student, I provide more than just pet sitting—I bring knowledge, patience, and a genuine passion for animal care. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and other small animals through both personal ownership and animal care work. I'm comfortable caring for puppies, senior pets, and animals with special needs, including administering medications when needed. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I'll provide attentive, reliable care and regular updates so you can have peace of mind. I'm currently home for the summer, so I have a very flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. Aside from occasional appointments and errands, I'm home throughout the day. Caring for animals is already a part of my daily routine, as I have pets of my own with established care schedules. Adding your pet into that routine allows me to provide consistent feeding, potty breaks, playtime, exercise, medication (if needed), and plenty of companionship. I always work to maintain your pet's normal routine as closely as possible so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away. Your pet's safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, medical needs, and any household rules so I can provide care that's both safe and consistent. In my home, I maintain a clean, pet-friendly environment and closely supervise interactions. I carefully introduce new situations at each pet's comfort level and never leave animals in unsafe situations. When caring for pets in a client's home, I treat both the home and the animals with the same respect and care I would expect for my own. I follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, exercise routines, and any specific care requests exactly as directed. I also provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. As a pre-veterinary student, I'm attentive to changes in an animal's behavior or health and won't hesitate to contact you—and, if necessary, seek veterinary care—if I have concerns.

About: Your pet deserves the best with dedication, training and companionship. I have worked with the SanTan Animal rescue, the Little Traverse Bay Humane society and friends and family and clients over the years; walking while training and helping with adoptions. I am using my experience and education to give the best to your pet. I'm a modified traditional and clicker trainer. I will be working with your pet as well as you if you're interested in learning my methods. I strive to go the extra mile every visit with you and your pet. During my training I will leave my tips and tricks for you. I'm the trainer and instructor you've been looking for because of the burning passion I have to impact the dog owning community. FIRST AID TRAINING: By hiring me you and rest assured that you will have top care for your pet, with knowledgeable experience and education for first aid and quick and concise treatment to any injury/attack that could happen. Being prepared with spare leashes and first aid on my walks reassure I am prepared for anything to happen and handle it quickly. I’m not afraid of defending and advocating for your pet in the case of emergency. Training on the walk: I specialize in loose leash training and look forward to improving every walk with teaching manners and getting all the good sniffs they can get (sometimes treats too!) everyone wants that walk where it’s theraputic with their pet, and maybe they want their children to learn to walk their dog(s) I love teaching the whole family and bring my pup along the way to assist in non reactivity and help other dogs. Reactivity can be hard to handle, with my group walk methods we all learn to walk with confidence when we understand how to handle the situation, and apply new skills. If you have any questions I’d love to help! Give me a text if you need: Crate training, potty training, loose leash training, behavioral therapy and more! Every dog deserves to have full attention. Basic obedience is carefully implemented with every single interaction with every single dog. I have 3 big boys (dogs) who love coming along to help other dogs learn. I respect every dog and every owner and their needs. I strive for symbiotic relationships with our pets. Meeting each others needs and enjoying the companionship that dogs bring to us humans. I am a vet tech student and commit my life to helping all animals and learning what I can do to help. Every visit is catered to training and maintaining good manners. My ultimate goal is to bring skills equivalent to a "Good Citizen" level of training even if we don't get much time I work to set steady foundations for success. Walks will not just be an easy breezy (chaotic) pull me around or softly walk through the neighborhood. We work on getting the dog tired and stimulated for maximum happiness of your pet. Dogs love figuring out challenges that help their comprehension of training grow and enhance the relationship between pet and handler. Making mundane tasks a game will fully engage your pet for maximum happiness. Seeing your dog improve on skills bring my heart so much joy sometimes I could just scream with excitement. Drop ins are for one on one training with you, your pet(s) and I. Walking and doing house exercises to stimulate their brain and exhaust their energy in productive ways, all the while teaching you and answering any training questions you have. I'll always leave tips tricks and techniques I to share so that you feel more educated and confident in building your relationship with your pet to its full potential. In my home I train all day every day as I do my own dogs. Keeping their gears turning and growing their trust in me is highest of priority. My home is sectioned off into 3 parts in the case some dogs may not get along and need to be desensitized and adjust/learn the manners of my (the) home. Aiming to take training to a comfortable but challenging level to expand that skill range. I always keep reflective gear and dog first aid kits on me while working with your pet. SAFETY FIRST! If you have more questions let me know. I hope to see you booking with me in your future 🩷

About: Lifelong dog owner with experience caring for dogs of all sizes, including training multiple puppies. Also experienced with cats and small animals. Reliable, attentive, and dedicated to keeping pets safe, happy, and comfortable. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily routine, as I care for my own dog. Incorporating additional pet care feels very natural to me. I plan my schedule around the needs of the animals I’m responsible for to ensure they receive consistent care and attention. After May 15th, I will have full availability and will be able to provide care any day of the week, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and overnight if needed. I provide attentive, personalized care based on each dog’s individual needs and energy level. Whether a dog enjoys relaxing and cuddling on the couch or prefers active play like fetch or walks, I’m happy to match their routine and keep them comfortable and engaged. I make sure they are fed on schedule, have fresh water at all times, and get plenty of exercise, attention, and affection. I also pay close attention to any specific instructions from the owner, including medications, behavioral preferences, or routines, to ensure consistency and a stress free experience for the pet.

Jennifer was professional and an excellent caregiver for my pets. My dog, who can be standoffish, allowed Jenn to rub her belly and chest, a sure sign of trust. Also, my skittish cat came out to play with Jenn and that only usualy happens with close family members. Two of my pets take meds and Jenn did this with no issue. I will happily ask her back to care for my pets and house.

Gabriela is an exceptional pet sitter! From the very beginning, she was kind, professional, and clearly passionate about caring for animals. She kept me updated with thoughtful messages and adorable photos, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. When I came home, my dog, Emma, was happy, relaxed, and obviously well loved. Gabriela went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and cared for, and she even left my home spotless. It’s rare to find someone as trustworthy, dependable, and genuinely caring as Gabriela. I wholeheartedly recommend Gabriela to anyone looking for a pet sitter who will treat your pets like family. I will absolutely be using her services again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Cheshire

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 884 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cheshire. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cheshire walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cheshire maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cheshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cheshire. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
