“Abbi did a great job stepping in last minute to look after my kitty, Cho. She spent time getting to know Cho during her visits and sent me cute photos of them playing. I recommend Abbi as a very responsible kitty sitter!”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life since I was a baby, mostly large dogs so I know how to handle them and care for them. I’m able to administer medication if necessary, and I’m patient and attentive, so I can make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable and loved while you’re away. I understand each pet has their own personality and routine, so I always follow owners instructions carefully to minimize stress and keep things consistent. I currently work full time as a bartender, so my mornings and early afternoons are totally open for any care. Nights are a little harder as I get out pretty late. I have 3 cats of my own, I have to administer medication to one of them twice a day, and monitor his litter box use as he has chronic urinary blockages. I am able to feed, clean litter, walk and play with clients pets.

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have always had a love for caring for animals. I currently have two dogs and a cat, so I have daily experience with pets of different personalities, needs, and energy levels. I’ve also cared for sick cats in the past, giving me experience with providing extra attention, monitoring their well-being, and following specific care needs. I understand how important it is to treat every pet with patience, care, and attention, and I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own. I work from home and deal with multiple pets every day. I can easily make time during a lunch hour, after work or even if you need a stay I can try to work it into my schedule. As a pet parent myself I understand the need for wanting to get your babies to the bathroom and have someone to be with them if youre gone for more than you want to be so I can always try to work something into the schedule to take care of them. I play with my dogs outside and take them for multiple walks daily. One of them loves to play fetch nonstop and the other loves to be chased so we cater to each of their playtimes individually. My older dog is adopted and I have been working diligently with him as he attention barked nonstop when we first got him and now he rarely does. I understand the individuality of pets and how each pet has different needs and desires. My cat is a big cuddler as well so I'm always hanging around her when its food time and cuddling her whenever I get the chance so she never feels left out
“We’re so very grateful for Sabrina taking such great care of our kitties. Both Kitties are very happy and were well cared for. Especially, grateful for playing with them and giving Stella her insulin. Thank you!”

“Nicole was extremely reliable and professional and I will definitely reach out to her again next time I need cat sitter. My elderly cat is sweet, but also a bit moody at times, and Nicole did an amazing job at helping my cat naturally come out of her shell and feel safe. The photo updates Nicole sent were also great and really set my mind at ease.”

“Katherine is always super great to work with and she was willing to go above and beyond while we were out of town during the storm! Highly recommend Katherine for your pet sitting needs!”

About: I have taken care of dogs of all ages and sizes. I often pet sit for puppies only a few months old, and cared for my senior girl as her mobility decreased. I have also taken care of dogs that followed strict diets and medication routines. Providing the care that your dog requires to keep them happy and healthy is my priority! Whether they prefer to take it easy and chill on the couch, or go on long walks and play fetch for hours, I will adapt and ensure your pup is happy. I am currently finishing up my master’s degree, and am doing my internship part time during the week. My schedule is flexible for the days that I provided availability, so I am happy to adapt to your needs! I am happy to follow the safety guidelines and routines that you have set for your pet. I have a fenced in yard at my home for my pets, and they roam in and out all day. However, I have also watched pets without a fenced in yard that needed to be leashed when they go outside so I am happy to adapt and supervise your dog just as you would! If you prefer to crate your dog when they are indoors, I will happily do so as well so as to not impact your pet’s sense of normalcy and the rules they need to follow. If you prefer your dog to be alone on walks, I’d be happy to walk them in places where there are few other people or dogs around so that they feel safe.
“Amber was very professional and communicative. I really appreciated her daily updates about my cat. Additionally, Amber was extremely personable. I highly recommend.”

“Meghan did a fantastic job with my two dogs. She followed my instructions for snacks and dinner, arrived on time and shared great photos. My girls really seemed to enjoy their time with Meghan! Would absolutely have her drop by again!”

“We were very happy with Kayla’s service of our two cats while we were away for four days in San Diego. She arrived on the agreed upon times on the dot, she was very communicative with us throughout the duration of our trip—including sending pictures which put us at ease—and she was extremely flexible and accommodating to one of our cats who tends hide from unknown people who come into the house. Kayla is extremely warm and cheerful. We hope to work with her again to check in on our two boys. Kayla made it possible for us to relax and enjoy our trip while we were away.”

Very responsive and flexible regarding our plans, and patient and helpful! Then for the day of the walk she provided updates about our dog and I know they had a great time together! Our dog was in excellent spirits when we returned. We were nervous since we hadn’t had a walker come in years, but all fears were put aside with Rachel. Can’t recommend enough. About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with professional experience working in veterinary care, as well as previous experience walking dogs. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all ages, from playful puppies and energetic adults to seniors who need a little extra patience and attention. I especially enjoy dog walking because I love getting outside, giving pets some enrichment and exercise, and seeing how happy they are afterward. Of course I’m here for the puppy kisses and cuddles too! My veterinary experience has given me experience with a variety of pets and their individual needs, including administering oral medications and topical medications. I also have personal experience caring for a deaf dog, so I understand the importance of adapting communication and care to each pet. I’m comfortable walking dogs up to 100 lbs and have some basic training knowledge that I can incorporate into everyday interactions. I believe consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement go a long way. My goal is to provide dependable daytime walks and drop-in visits while giving your pets the same patience, attention, and affection I would want for my own. I’ll treat your pets like individuals, respect their routines, and make sure they get plenty of love and attention while you’re away. I have spent the past 2.5 years dog walking under companies in Boston. I now work at a vet clinic as a receptionist. I miss spending my time outdoors and the hands on experience I gain with dog walking! I have experience with dogs with special needs (deafness blindness and some medical issues). I also have basic experience with training and dogs with behavioral difficulties. I have learned a lot about body language throughout the years and love to get a dog’s brain working on a walk to make it more enriching. I can’t wait to meet you and your pup! I’m an animal lover with professional veterinary experience and previous experience working as a dog walker. I enjoy spending time with animals and getting to know their individual personalities and routines. I’m especially interested in daytime dog walks and drop-in visits on my available days. I’m dependable, attentive, and comfortable caring for dogs and cats of all ages and sizes. My goal is always to make sure your pet gets the exercise, enrichment, attention, and affection they need while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Because of my veterinary background, I’m familiar with paying attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy, and overall wellbeing, and I take each pet’s individual needs seriously. For walks and drop-ins, I follow your instructions and your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I’m careful about doors, gates, leashes, and other potential escape risks, and I’ll make sure your home is left secure and tidy after each visit. I’m also comfortable administering oral and topical medications when needed. Before caring for a new pet, I like to learn about their personality, routines, triggers, and anything else that will help me provide safe and comfortable care.
“I highly recommend Lila. She did an amazing job with my three cats. She is very diligent and honest. Gustav needs a pill and she was able to give him that. Betty is very timid but she went to Lila. Lila kept me updated with texts and photos everyday. She went above and beyond. I look forward to having Lila take care of my fur babies whenever I travel!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
