“Sarah has been great with my knew puppy. She is very tentative to him, nice, and responsible. She pays attention to details without prompting. My puppy appears to look forward to her drop in visits.”

“So happy we found Ashleigh! Just had our first drop in visit. It went great! Was comforting to know that Ashleigh broke up our pups’ day and left awesome notes and photos from the visit. She met with us the day before so the dogs could meet her with us and was and we could share their normal activities and play preferences. We’re in a unique situation were our pups have to be separated with a gate. It’s a very calm and controlled environment with the gates. But, without seeing it, that sound like a lot. Ashleigh gave us a chance and handled the pups great! We will definitely be requesting Ashleigh for our future sitter needs.”

“Callie did great with my dog Sonic, he is very timid with new people but warmed up to her very quickly when she came over the meet and great. We have several events planned for the future and I definitely will be booking again with her.”
“Alexis took great care of our dogs while we were away for the holidays! They seemed to really enjoy her care and company, and she went the extra mile making sure they had everything they needed. She was also very communicative and kept us informed at all times. 10/10, would book again.”

About: I absolutely love animals. I've had dogs and cats since I was 6. Since then I've help train a service dog and fostered many other dogs. I currently have three dogs: chihuahua mix, pug rat terrier mix, and a great Pyrenees. I currently am a personal trainer so I don’t have a set schedule. I will be able to let the pet outside or spend time with them in between clients. I can take the pets on daily walks, depending on their schedule and when they like to. I like to know where the food is and if they get treats for doing specific things.
About: I have always grown up with animals and my love for them led me to a job at a pet resort. I was a kennel technician for 4 years which provided me great insight to care for all types of furry friends. I just graduated college from UNC Charlotte and home in Emerald Isle for the summer. Most days I workout and hang with my family so my schedule is pretty flexible. I always try to keep each pet’s routine as close as possible to what they’re used to because I know how stressful change can feel—especially for anxious pets. I’m patient, gentle, and attentive, and I make it my priority to provide comfort, consistency, and lots of love while they’re away from their parents.

“Jenna is the best of the best! She treats the animals in her care like they are her own. I have one very outgoing and energetic pup and Jenna makes sure she gets all of her wiggles out while she is there. My older female is scared of everything, and Jenna takes the time to make sure she is comfortable during the visit. We are so lucky to have Jenna be part of our pack!”

About: I love animals! I have had a dog or cat most of my life. I currently have Rocco, my 6 mth old golden retriever. He is the love of my life, outside of my wife. I am fit & I love the water. I love paddleboarding, boating, fishing & taking Rocco to the ocean where he jumps waves & says hi to everyone!! I have experience in grooming, training, administering medications and anything else your pet may need. My dog, prior to Rocco, was a cockapoo, named Winston, who was a part of our family until he was 18 yrs old. During his senior years he had special needs and required administration of Meds & a lot of TLC! I kept my sons two golden retrievers for a week at a time. I also made home visits to other people. I have let their dogs out, sometimes two times a day where we played fetch, walked them & gave them lots of love & affection. I will show your fur baby the same love. Let me show you how much your pet will love me!🐶 I have a very flexible schedule. I am looking for ongoing long-term set schedules but I will take one time visits as well.. I am home most of the time unless I'm in the water. I love taking my golden to the beach so he can jump the waves. Since I'm only 5 minutes from the ocean I dont need to travel much so my availability is wide open. I have a fenced back yard that is perfect for your fur baby. I live in a dog friendly neighborhood where most of the dogs know each other when we walk our golden. My golden loves to swim in my pool & jump waves at the ocean. We live 5 minutes from the beach. Dogs love to walk & meet & greet there. My golden is very friendly to other dogs. He plays with them until he wears completely out.
“Robyn did an excellent job taking care of our boy. Very professional and updated us every day. We had 0 issues and I would consider that she went above and beyond for our friend. Highly recommend and we will be repeat clients. Thanks Robyn!!”

“Thank you for taking care of Buoy while I was away. Cara was open to a drop-in visit to give my wild man some attention while I traveled. She sent pictures of him of him playing ball and relaxing after playtime.”
“Sarah was amazing! I received the sweetest pictures of my cats each visit! My male cat needs twice daily insulin shots and Sarah had no trouble at all. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“Leigh was the best pup sitter! She was reliable, punctual, caring, flexible and always communicated. I was nervous being away from them, and she always made me feel better when she had her visit with my babies. She even let me know that she thought something was a little off with my Chihuahua. This way I knew to pay a little extra attention to make sure he was OK when I got home.”

“Outstanding Cat Sitter — Above and Beyond! Rebekah was absolutely wonderful with our two cats, Sadie and Bella! During the five days Rebekah cared for our girls, we received updates twice a day, always with great photos and videos. Every message was thoughtful and “newsy,” and Rebekah never hesitated to respond whenever we reached out, which gave us the total peace of mind everyone wants while out of town. One of our cats, Sadie, worked herself into such a state that she developed diarrhea even before we left. When we let Rebekah know, she suggested adding pumpkin to Sadie’s diet—and voilà! Problem solved. We were so impressed by Rebekah’s attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine care for our cats. We came home to two happy, well‑cared‑for girls and couldn’t be more grateful. This was the first time we have used Rover or worked with Rebekah, but it absolutely won’t be the last. We highly recommend Rebekah and would book again in a heartbeat!”

Ashleigh went above and beyond with our fur babies! We have 3 rescues, all with different personalities and issues. She even had success with my overly anxious, fearful girl with severe separation anxiety! Ashleigh is a true professional and must be a dog whisperer! 😊 She understood my directions regarding each dog’s unique personalities and tips to help with each one and did an awesome job! Her communications are prompt, detailed and friendly! We definitely recommend her and will use again!

Sandy took excellent care of our 3 kitties - from feeding them to cleaning the litter boxes ( & any messes they made) and spending time with them. She kept us informed and was very responsive and detailed. We highly, highly recommend her services. She truly loves animals and was a professional through and through. Thank you again, Sandy!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 283 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Cape Carteret. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cape Carteret. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
