“Repeated customer, and as usual Sofia is amazing with our boys and our house. She made sure during the heat wave to have special entertainment for them with a splash pad, refreshing treats, and lot of cuddles. She is always so thoughtful with them and provide all the love they need while we're away. We definitely wouldn't trust anyone else with our babies and our home. 😊”

“Lori went above and beyond taking care of my cat and dog for 2.5 weeks in our house. My animals were very well taken care of, and she was great at messaging. I was very happy that I got daily photos or videos of them! When I come back my house was immaculate. I would recommend her and will for sure book her again!”

“Janessa took great care of my reactive dog and 2 cats while I had an emergency trip! I knew that my apartment was also well cared for! Very proactive, honest, and my pets were happy when I returned home. Thank you!”

“Robyn did an amazing job looking over my two pups for the long weekend ! Followed instructions and also took pictures of my dogs every day for me ! Definitely recommend using her !”

“Thadora did a wonderful job both in taking care of Georgie, our cat, and the house. She was very reliable and kept in touch with pictures and messages. Georgie was a very happy cat!”

“Jeremy and Tina are ideal hosts. Friendly, sincere and professional they exceeded expectations. They cared for my Yorkie like she was their own. What a treat to receive their photos, videos and comments of my beloved Magda. I think she got a little teary-eyed saying Goodbye to her new friends.”

“Robin was great! She did 3 pre-visits (we booked her a month and a half in advance). She stayed in our home for almost three weeks. Gave us almost daily updates with pictures. Our two fur babies were calm and relaxed when we came home. The house was left clean and in order. Will be using her again when we go away!”

“This was Sara's first visit to my home to take care of my mini poodle Chiko. Sara was recommended to me by a trusted friend and I can see why! She is great. My dog Chiko is a senior (14), completely blind and semi-deaf. He is a gentle little guy but needs constant care and help finding his way around. Sara did a terrific job of keeping Chiko comfortable and he enjoyed a walk with her (his favourite activity!). I would recommend Sara to others, as she is friendly, kind, knowledgable and very professional. Through our conversations it become clear that she had significant experience and good judgement. Thank you Sara!”

“Where to begin!! I will definitely be calling on Alana for future dog sitting. She went above and beyond. Right from the meet and greet my 2x dogs were so happy to meet her. She provided ample updates and videos which made me feel like confident in her abilities to take good care of my dogs. The house was left nice and clean. Overall very happy with her services and will definitely be hiring her again in the future.”

“Christopher was absolutely amazing! We had Chris house sit for two weeks and he made sure not only visit multiple times a day for bathroom breaks and feeding but also stayed for extended periods at a time to ensure my dog wasn’t lonely and bored. Chris also ensured to leave the house in the exact same state that I had left it in which is great appreciated. He also provided updates throughout the time as well and I felt like I always knew exactly what was going on back home. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a sitter while they are away!”

“We had another sitter cancel Last minute and David was able To help us out with watching our dogs. We use another dog sitting website and ended up with no sitter. David came over a week before we left to ensure he could watch our dogs and it was a good fit. We have a young puppy too and he was very accommodating. We also liked that david stayed most of time at home With the dogs to train The puppy. Our house was also clean when we came home and had daily pictures and a video sent. It was very easy to communicate. We recommend david for Sure.”

“Amy stayed at our home with our two dogs while we were away. She was responsive and adaptable to our young dog and our senior fellow. She even provided a video of our pups playing. With Amy’s help we enjoyed our time away and our pups were well cared for. Thanks, Amy!”

“Can’t say enough on how great it was to have Danielle step up and take care of our Maddie on short notice. We will definitely look to book Danielle again She took great care of 8 yr old “pup” and treated her so good and followed the post op instructions we provided thanks again Danielle!”

“Megan was fantastic! She kept our cat company while we were gone and also kept the plants alive, and fed the fish. She went above and beyond. We had a meet and greet before booking her. She took the time to listen to our 9 year old regarding the care of the cat, which left the little one to be very comfortable leaving our cat behind during our trip. She sent picture updates, and also offered to change the light bulb in our snake tank even tho it wasn't part of her duties as well as a few other things. She is caring and respectful of your place, and we can't wait to use her for our next trip, as she puts our minds at ease when away from the house.”

“Lyra was, without a doubt, the most skilled, patient and friendly dog sitter (and trainer!!!) we have EVER had. Our dogs adored her, and she went above and beyond to train our new rescue dog, working on his fears, barking and leash pulling. I didn’t worry once about either dog, we were updated frequently with pics and training progress, and we came home to HAPPY, brushed dogs and a spotlessly clean house. I can’t recommend Lyra enough!!! Amazing.”

About: *husband is currently free to help with pets as well if you happen to have an animal who is a little more comfortable with men* I grew up with animals since a young age, my family always had dogs and every summer I’d spend months out at my godmother’s farm helping take care of all kinds of animals including a barn full of cats. Professionally I was employed as a groomer/doggy daycare attendant so im well versed in handling animals of all sizes and temperaments! Currently between jobs just trying to make ends meet in a way that brings joy and allows others to know their babies are safe at home while they’re out living life. I’m recently unemployed so I’ve got nothing but time on my hands! I enjoy going for daily walks on my own so I would have no problem having a pet join me on my day. Following whatever guidelines they have set up for their pets! I will hang out with them and take good care of them no matter where we are!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Saskatchewan
Roni was absolutely amazing with our fur family! We had never left them with a stranger before, so we were a little nervous, but she made the whole experience so easy and stress-free. She kept us updated with regular photos, and her communication was always quick and responsive. It was such a relief knowing they were in such good hands while we were away. We would definitely recommend Roni and would absolutely use her again in the future!

Repeated customer, and as always, Sofia took care of our boys and our home wonderfully! Always got updates and pictures from them everyday. Even a wonderful little surprise of magnets with their pictures when we got home. She truly provide the best care we could ask for for our babies, and will be reaching out again 😊❤️

Faith was a dream to have look after the fur members of our family. She was very kind from the first message to the last (when she messaged me to make sure we got home okay) and I always felt confident that our furry friends were being well looked after. Faith stayed in our home and we came back to a house that was cleaner than we left it. We'd be thrilled to have Faith look after our furry friends again!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Saskatchewan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Saskatchewan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Saskatchewan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
