“I’ve been hiring Cassandra for ~5 years, through 2 very different dogs, and I will continue to seek her out as my first option for a reliable sitter. She is high energy, attentive, patient and compassionate towards your pup. Thanks Cassandra!”

“Dawn and her daughter watched our dogs over the weekend we got married. It was so lovely not having to worry about the dogs knowing they were in good care. They sent us updates every day and left the cutest gift for us. We will definitely book her again !!”

“Janessa took great care of my reactive dog and 2 cats while I had an emergency trip! I knew that my apartment was also well cared for! Very proactive, honest, and my pets were happy when I returned home. Thank you!”

About: I've been caring for dogs and cats since I was a child, and animals have always been a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve gained hands-on experience with feeding, grooming, walking, bathing, and both potty and crate training. I’ve also helped with basic obedience training and understand the patience and consistency pets need to feel safe and happy. Friends, family, and neighbors regularly trust me with their pets, knowing I treat every animal as my own. I’m dependable, gentle, and genuinely love spending time with animals. I currently work remote, so have a lot of flexibility to board at my home and attend to your pets needs throughout their stay or visit your home and take care of walks, potty breaks, play time, and grooming. I have a fully fenced yard in my townhouse so dogs can enjoy safe, supervised time outside. Inside, pets are welcome to enjoy furniture, yes, that includes the couch. I keep my space clean and pet-friendly and free of hazards. When I care for pets in a clients home, I do my best to maintain their usual routines and respect their habits and space. I'm mindful and tidy and make sure pets have access to fresh water and clean litter boxes, and lots of attention. My focus is to keep them happy, safe, and comfortable.
About: I’ve taken care of high energy huskies as well as senior pups with disability! I love being outside, have great situational awareness and am not deterred by a challenge. I currently work Monday to Friday 7:30-5pm and am available weekends or weekdays for house visits, sitting and dog walks. I have no other responsibilities! I am responsible with many years of house sitting, I take notes, respect, and maintain calm energy for your animals. I don’t drink, smoke or party. I am able to accommodate injury and high needs, I am great with animals with separation anxiety and believe I help keep them calm while their favourite people are away!
“Thadora took awesome care of my pup for 11 days! She was very communicative and sent photos every day! Tito loves her so much I don’t even think he misses me. She also left the house even neater than it was when I left. 100 stars!!”

“Zoe was great with our very anxious dog. He warmed up to her quickly and was very happy and well taken care of while we were away. We would definitely recommend her and use her services again.”

“Can’t say enough on how great it was to have Danielle step up and take care of our Maddie on short notice. We will definitely look to book Danielle again She took great care of 8 yr old “pup” and treated her so good and followed the post op instructions we provided thanks again Danielle!”

“Highly recommend Jeremy. Jeremy went over and above taking care of my dog Pocky . He will now be my dog sitter anytime I leave. I’m really nervous leaving my dog but Jeremy continued to put my mind at ease.”

“Christopher was absolutely amazing! We had Chris house sit for two weeks and he made sure not only visit multiple times a day for bathroom breaks and feeding but also stayed for extended periods at a time to ensure my dog wasn’t lonely and bored. Chris also ensured to leave the house in the exact same state that I had left it in which is great appreciated. He also provided updates throughout the time as well and I felt like I always knew exactly what was going on back home. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a sitter while they are away!”

“Where to begin!! I will definitely be calling on Alana for future dog sitting. She went above and beyond. Right from the meet and greet my 2x dogs were so happy to meet her. She provided ample updates and videos which made me feel like confident in her abilities to take good care of my dogs. The house was left nice and clean. Overall very happy with her services and will definitely be hiring her again in the future.”

“This is the second time I’ve booked Alyssa to take care of my four animals and again she was amazing! Two of my cats are on medications and she eased my anxiety about leaving them. I’m so happy I have a reliable pet sitter now that goes above and beyond the standard pet care !! :)”

About: Hello, I’m Ren! I’ve had a soft spot for animals since I was little, and I absolutely love taking care of them! I have personally owned 4 large breed dogs, 3 small breed dogs, and 6 cats (at once!). I’ve had experience with senior animals, puppies/kittens, diabetic animals, and animals with epilepsy. I am fully comfortable administering injectable and oral medications! I believe animals are one of life’s greatest treasures, and I’m delighted to meet new furry friends! For over-night house sitting more than 2 days I need; -a bed/couch to sleep on -access to a shower (I will bring my own hygiene supplies) -I can supply my own food 🍜but I will need access to a kettle & microwave. All dishes used will be washed afterwards😸 I’m currently out of school and have a lot of free time on my hands! What better way to fill the week then spending time with dogs & cats😸 I treat animals with respect, love, and proper care. Any pet I watch will be treated with lots of affection and enthusiasm! I enjoy going for walks greatly and find it more enjoyable when I have a pal to go with.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Saskatchewan
Faith was a dream to have look after the fur members of our family. She was very kind from the first message to the last (when she messaged me to make sure we got home okay) and I always felt confident that our furry friends were being well looked after. Faith stayed in our home and we came back to a house that was cleaner than we left it. We'd be thrilled to have Faith look after our furry friends again!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Saskatchewan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Saskatchewan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Saskatchewan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
