About: I’m known as the go to dog sitter among my friends and coworkers! I love having another personality around the house and my two dogs love it too! My dogs are westie and a blue heeler, so I have some experience with working and high energy breeds! We have tons of walking paths around, river access and a dog park nearby. I’m confident with crates/kennels and giving meds. I have quite a bit of free time and when I do work, I can stop at home for an extra potty break mid shift to make sure all is well My own dogs are crate trained and I prioritize some on and off leash time daily. My boys love frisbee and fetch in the fully fenced back yard and we make time for a few dogsports too! Both are super social with other dogs, we have many adventures camping and meeting with friends.

Janessa was very accommodating for anything I needed with my dog Blais. She walked her two times a day and even helped with her treatments for her osteoarthritis. Janessa came over for a meet and greet first and Blais instantly adored her! I will definitely hire Janessa for her services again in the future!

We have used Cari many times for help during the day when my husband is away and she’s always fantastic. We often have last minute bookings and she’s proven reliable and flexible with us, it’s very appreciated. We have two large dogs (230lbs combined) and are always confident that she is capable of providing care for them in terms of walks, plays and love. They definitely miss her when the need ends for her service. 10/10 always reccomend.

About: I am a new stay at home mom that is used to caring for my children with paws and still learning the tricks to the one with toes. While I love all animals, the big slobbery ones have my heart wrapped around their drool and my big senior (7 yr Great Dane/Mastiff) guy knows it. Our little girl is actually a 120 lb mastiff/pitty cross that just turned 4 and they both love their littlest brothers (an April Fools baby and a 3 lb kitten, both of whom run the house). Killer the cat is actually a big ball of scaredy cat and Mr Fishy the Beta finishes off the attendance list. I would love to meet and care for your family members with fur as well! I am currently on maternity leave and am looking to get out of the house and get some exercise. I am confident in walking large dogs but will have my baby and stroller with me so I ask for pups that won’t pull too much. Since I have a small baby and 4 animals of my own I am not able to stay overnight but can check in any day or time. Having two extra large dogs of my own, I am confident in walking your pup and am familiar in crate training as well. I believe in force free training and can follow your lead to reinforce training and obedience into our walks and visits as well. I strongly follow the idea that trust is the best form of leadership with animals and people.

we are the luckiest to have samana. her genuine care, compassion, and kindness she gives to our fur babies is immeasurable. I could "fan girl" over her all day, every day. she follows our training requests, she keeps us updated regularly, and reassures us that goose & gob are being taken care of. our pup is slightly reactive and she has taken on the challenge with stride, we are forever grateful.

Emily has been a blessing to our family (and two fur babies)! She joined us last minute as we left on holiday, proved herself reliable, trustworthy and a great babysitter/dogs walker. So so that we have kept her on after returning home. Now the pups watch for her and are so excited she comes back to “visit” twice a week. I highly recommend Emily to anyone who loves their pups as we do!

About: I’m a reliable and compassionate pet caregiver with years of hands-on experience caring for my own animals, along with professional experience working in an animal hospital. This has given me a strong understanding of animal behavior, health, and safety, as well as the ability to stay calm and attentive in any situation. I treat every pet as if they were my own—making sure they feel comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you’re away I’m currently working part time serving so my schedule is pretty flexible just waiting to go to school in the fall. I’m always able to work around schedules and what works best for the owner. I’m very attentive when it comes to all types of animals. We have a fenced in yard but live on acreage so my pets have a lot of area to run and play but also no chance of them getting lost because they also are trained. I make sure there are no dangerous areas around my home from sharp corners to things on the ground. My dogs constantly have water but are on a strict eating schedule. My cats are fed at all times and also have water at all times. My dogs and cats usually have a goo rotation when it comes to toys I get them ones that won’t harm them if they rip them apart, but if they do I will buy them a new one. I’d say there pretty spoiled animals but when you love them doesn’t seem like work at all.

About: I’ve had my best friend, Ash, since I was 10. Almost 12, he’s as lively as ever! I had also adopted Dart last year, a 10 year old pointer with anxiety - I have had the privilege of watching him grow and bloom into his instincts and training! I’ve also worked professionally with dogs for over two years and specifically would be tasked to handle dogs with special needs, whether that be behavioural or medical. I can connect with dogs and read them incredibly easy. I’m very patient as well and have no fear when dealing with less trusting or “feistier” dogs. I also understand how busy life can get, especially when unexpected hurdles come your way. I am especially offering services for pet parents who are looking for super last minute help. I’m more than happy to share a more specific version of my availability if you think you’ll need last minute care in the near future. I also especially love senior dogs and can manage their specific health and behavioural needs with ease. :) Hi! I’m a student with two pups of my own. I would love to help others struggling with busy schedules give their pups the best life they deserve! I have pretty open availability, and really only have my own pup’s schedule to work around (which isn’t too hard). Come September, I’ll have a lot of daytime free time and may be able to adjust my schedule for last minute bookings or work out a weekly routine that works for the both of us. I’d be great for last-minute bookings, most especially for dog walking and drop-ins. I am also more than happy to negotiate pricing and cater it to your pups needs! :) ** I will accept short-term boarding under certain circumstances (typically if you’re experiencing an emergencies and need short term pet care ASAP). This is not preferred for me, hence the pricing. I’m very respectful of others spaces and will be able to recognize and learn the routines of your pup pretty quick! Special instructions are no stranger to me, so ask away!! I want to replicate their regular routine as much as possible to cause the least amount of stress :)

Alana was able to come on a last minute request which was amazing, and even without having a meet and greet she was able to convince my nervous dog to go for a walk. She spent time earning my dogs trust who is apprehensive of new people. Alana also has experience walking reactive dogs which was a huge plus for me as my dog is reactive on leash. I cannot recommend Alana enough!

She also kindly shared her coupon to help make the service more affordable for me which I really appreciated as a student. She checked in after the visit as well to make sure I was satisfied with how she left the dogs and my home and I really appreciated her help! About: I've been fortunate enough to care for many different animals since I was 12 years old. I've been blessed enough to experience growing up with cats, dogs, peacocks, rabbits, chickens, buggie and many more beautiful and equally unique animals. I'm addition, neighbours, friends and family have relied on me many times to pet sit, walk, feed, and bathe their pets. I'm currently homeschooling my grade 2 kid which usually only takes up 20 to 30 minutes of our day so I have plenty of time to play with and care for your furry or feathered babies. I have fenced yard and a very friendly cat and dog to keep your fur or feathered babies company. Both are very accustomed to growing up around different species of animals we've sat or fostered. My cat has a very large catio he loves to sit in during the day and usually perches himself on his cat castle by the window inside the house for naps or people watching (his favorite thing to do). He loves other animals and is very affectionate and protective towards them, he's a very docile breed and way too friendly for his own good. I do have a crate for dog and spare rooms for cats if a slower introduction is needed. My home is pretty pet friendly and clean and everybody in here will never be short of love, food and affection.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Saskatchewan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 98% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
