“Danielle is an absolute delight and I am SO glad we found her on rover. Our dog is really passive and shy so we set up a meeting before hand knowing she might be skittish. We were doing a stay cation close by but had we not been we have no doubt that if anyone could break through our shy girls demeanour it would have been Danielle. We popped back home on the second day just so our pupper knew we still existed and after that point she was a changed lady with Danielle. The updates and attention and care she gave our animals was incredible. Our cats are pretty easy, the one is actually annoying with how much he loves people, but our dog is so reserved that we were really worried about how this would go, but with the communication and time spent Danielle was a gem and we couldn’t have selected better.”

“Cheri is absolutely lovely and our puppy took to her instantly. We were able to leave our puppy knowing she would be well looked after. I highly recommend using Cheri and would not hesitate to use her services again.”

About: I have hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and other small pets. My experience ranges from daily feeding, walking, grooming, and cleaning enclosures to providing companionship, basic training reinforcement, and medication when needed. I’m comfortable with animals of all sizes, ages, and temperaments—from energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience and care. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and loved while their owners are away, and I always treat every animal as if they were my own I’m a university student with most of my classes scheduled mid-day, which gives me a flexible schedule in the mornings, evenings, and many afternoons. This allows me to accommodate walks, drop-ins, feeding times, and extended care as needed. When caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I always follow the pet’s usual routine as closely as possible to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, have fresh water at all times, and get plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention. I tailor care to each pet’s needs—whether that means long walks, quiet companionship, litter or enclosure cleaning, grooming, or administering medication if required. I keep owners updated with messages and photos, and I always prioritize safety, cleanliness, and a calm environment so pets feel secure while their owners are away.
“Alyssa is absolutely amazing with our kitties!! She makes us so comfortable leaving them in her care and updates us thoroughly. We will always choose Alyssa when we travel and we highly recommend you do as well!”

About: I lived with a friend on a hobby farm. She showed me the ropes. I learned how to take care of all animals big and small. I am willing and able to assist in medicine administration. I have tons of free time that I’d love to dedicate to ensuring your furry friend has their needs through the day and even when you’re on vacation I work full time in the city and I hardly ever leave the province and can dedicate as much time needed with your fur babies as you need! I’m very good with early mornings and late night visits. I won’t have pets in my home as I have a cat myself, but I will ensure I know where all food, treats, toys and everything else they require before you leave. I will ask for an emergency response plan in the event I need to get ahold of you asap. I also have my own reliable transportation and will ask for the vet you use in dire emergencies. I will also supervise play time as I know how quick everything can go sideways. I also am very clean, if there’s a mess from your pet, it’ll be cleaned. And I have no problem cleaning litter boxes as well.
About: I've had pets since the day I was born, and they will always be a part of my life. From the endless energy of puppies and kittens to the more specialized needs of seniors, I have seen and done it all. My time working in a pet store also taught me to care for other kinds of pets, not just cats and dogs. Fish, birds, rodents, rabbits, you name it, I have probably cleaned it's cage. I’m home full-time, which allows me to give pets plenty of attention and consistent care. I’m also certified in Red Cross Pet First Aid, so your pet’s safety and well-being are always my top priority. I am available all day, every day. I will work my schedule to suit your needs, so feel free to contact me for pet care at any time. My style of pet care is very observant and reactionary. When I meet a new pet, I like to see what sort of energy they have and match that. If your cat is shy and reserved, I will give them the time they need to get comfortable with me, rather than trying to force affection on them. If your dog is energetic and playful, I'll rub their tummy and take them for a run. Whatever your pet's personality is, I will adapt and cater to it.
“Andrea was wonderful, extremely responsive and great to communicate with. She helped us out on the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so we could spend some time away from home. You can tell she really cared for our kitties and took great. Pictures will definitely hire again and recommend.”

“Amie did an excellent job of providing updates and pictures while we were away. Our dog loves her and we felt very comfortable having her in our home. We will definitely rebook in the future!”

“Kristen was very friendly, responsive and highly attentive. She treated my dog with care and love. She took time to learn my dog’s medical care routine and excelled at handling him. I look forward to working with her again in the future.”

About: Experienced Pet Caregiver & Rescue Advocate With several years of hands-on experience fostering dogs and puppies through a local rescue, I’ve cared for animals of all ages, temperaments, and needs. As the rescue’s adoptions coordinator, I matched countless pets with their perfect homes, gaining deep insight into animal behavior and care. I also took in a high-needs behavioral dog—now my beloved foster fail—showcasing my commitment and patience with even the most challenging cases. I am lucky to have a very flexible schedule and I would love to fill my down time with becoming your pets new best friend! When caring for pets in your home, my priority is to maintain their usual routine and create a calm, familiar environment. I follow all care instructions closely—feeding schedules, exercise routines, medications, and any special needs—to ensure your pets feel safe and comfortable while you're away. I offer plenty of affection, playtime, and mental stimulation based on each pet’s personality and preferences. I also keep your home tidy and secure, bringing in mail, watering plants, and sending regular updates with photos so you can enjoy peace of mind. Your pets are family—and I treat them that way.

Alicia was great at looking after our two cats, one of which is diabetic so requires set feeding times along with insulin injections and other medication. Alicia had no problem administering the medication and was very accommodating to the feeding times we needed. She was also able to look after other tasks while we were away. Would highly recommend Alicia's services!

Kathryn is incredible! She wowed us during the meet and greet and persevered when there were issues during the first visit (on our end). She sent great updates and photos and we felt relieved knowing our kitties were in great hands, our place looked better coming back than we left it. 100% recommend.

Aleisha looked after our two diabetic cats twice for back-to-back long weekends this Fall. Having diabetic cats are time restrictive with their regimented feeding times but Aleisha was accommodating to our schedule. She was also accommodating to our other requests, which we appreciate her being able to do for us. We would recommend Aleisha, and will be using her services again in the future.

Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
