“Katie was awesome. I loved her from the moment I met her (and she met my pups) and I knew without a doubt I was leaving them in great expert hands. She took excellent care of Tavish and Tessie and their particular needs while we were away for the weekend. I won't hesitate to use Katie again.”

“Pamela is great! She is punctual and our kitty loves her! She communicates regularly. She even went the extra mile and replaced the batteries in our touch-activated faucet. Thanks Pamela!”

“Lilac has really taken the time to bond with our pets. Always goes above and beyond to make sure they're comfortable and keeps us completely informed. She also sends the cutest pics of our babies from every visit!”
“Savannah was great with my cat Colby. I always get nervous using a new sitter but Savannah was great and I could tell how much my cat liked her. I will definitely use Savannah in the future when we are out of town!”
About: My friends tell me I treat their pets like my own when I watch them! People have told me that they appreciate that I pay attention to details and send lots of updates. I have an elderly dog myself with special needs, have taken dog training classes and genuinely love animals! I am excited to learn about what care your dog needs and help them feel safe and cared for! I can do recurring drop ins once we have had our first sitting to make sure it’s a good fit! I have my calendar blocked off Tuesdays and Thursdays but feel free to reach out about one-offs! I work remotely, so I’d like to make myself available to help you out during the day with quick drop ins, short walks and potty breaks! My currently availability says the morning but I do have some availability in the afternoons at times. My dog is trained with positive reinforcement based methods. She is an older dog with medication requirements and I understand the extra care and play restrictions they can have! Whether it’s creating a quick interactive puzzle game or playing gently in the backyard, happy to help your dog get some attention during the day!
“Tresalyn did a wonderful job looking after my two kitties, especially with one being extremely shy! She made me feel so comfortable leaving them in her care by sending photos, reassuring they have food, water, clean litter, etc. I highly recommend Tresalyn to watch your fur babies!!!”

“Cera is amazing! She is kind, very responsive, and flexible. My mind was at ease knowing my cat was in the best hands while I was gone. She kept me updated with lots of adorable pictures and was happy to accommodate a couple other household tasks I asked her to do. I’m so glad to have found her and look forward to using her services in the future.”

“This was my first time using Rover service for my two kitties. I am very pleased with how it worked out. Larry did a great job following directions for my cats care! He send me daily pictures and notes about them- fed them their dinner each night, checked on them, scooped the box and even brought in the mail. I will gladly use Larry again when I travel. Glad to find a nearby neighbor that’s a caring, responsible animal lover. Thanks Larry!”
“We love leaving our sweet boy Umka with Kasidy because it gives us such a peace of mind to know that she will love and care for him just like we do. We love getting little photo updates of their time together and can tell she loves loving on him. Thank you so much!”

About: What started out as an occasional cat sitting for my family friends quickly turned into a career. I have taken care of people’s horses, cats, dogs, chickens, basically you name it! From Wilmington, to Blowing Rock, to the great state of South Dakota, I have provided reliable and safe care for hundreds of animals so their owners can rest assured while they are away. I am currently a new mom to a wonder baby boy, so getting a full time scheduled position doesn’t work for me right now. I have plenty of help with him however, and would love to get some outdoor time with your pets when you need it most! I am very comfortable with in home visits, as that is what I became accustomed to while farm sitting. I am great at following a routine and instructions, and there is no doubt your pet will be the care they need. In addition, I have my own dog so I’m used to going on as long of a walk as your dog may need!
“Sherrie took great care of my pup! She understands dog personalities are all different and took care to acknowledge my pups boundaries while still taking great care of her. I will definitely be booking with her in the future:)”

“One of our dog seriously hurt her leg two days before we were leaving for a week long vacation. Lena stepped in without hesitation to help with meds and provide extra care per our vet's instructions. She made a stressful situation much easier to handle—both for us and our hurt dog! She also took awesome pics!”
“We're a repeat fan of Tiffany! Due to her always showing up in the timeframe promised and being attentive to our care list for Dalton and Lucy, we are able to enjoy our time away without worry.”
“This was the third time we hired Caitlin to come take care of our pup while we were away. It was also our longest trip yet as we were away from home for over a week. I never feel like I can fully express how amazing Caitlin is and how grateful we are to have found her. We really hate leaving our dog and before finding Caitlin, we never had before. Finding someone you can truly trust is so important and Caitlin is that person! She goes above and beyond in every aspect of her job. Each time we work with her, we are left more impressed than the time before. And I don’t even know how that is possible because I was about as impressed as I could be the first time we worked with her. She is an excellent communicator which is such a blessing when you’re away. She writes in extraordinary detail about every aspect of her visits and also includes an abundance of photos so you feel like you are there. Seeing my pup so happy while we were away gave me such peace of mind. She’s not afraid to reach out with questions if something comes up. This time in particular, our area had snow and crazy weather and Caitlin went so above and beyond to communicate to us what was happening and then made a game plan to physically get to our pup when it looked like driving conditions could be unsafe. Her love of animals is so evident and yet she’s a people person too! She is really one of a kind. Thank you, Caitlin, for taking care of Echo and making traveling so easy for us!”

I love animals and can’t wait to meet and get to know yours! My availability is open, so let me know if you need set walking times, or pet sitting, Especially during the week, but also weekends work! About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with years of hands-on experience caring for my own pets—including two large dog breeds and multiple cats. I truly have a huge heart for animals and treat every pet in my care as if they were my own, with patience, attention, and lots of love. I understand the needs of bigger dogs as well as the unique personalities of cats, and I’m comfortable handling a variety of temperaments and routines. I’m also a full-time mom to an eight-month-old, which has only deepened my sense of responsibility, nurturing, and attentiveness. Pet sitting is a meaningful way for me to help support my family financially while doing something I genuinely love—caring for animals like they’re part of my family. 🐾 As a full-time mom working from home, I have flexible daytime availability and can easily accommodate regular pet check-ins and walks throughout the day. I’m home-based, dependable, and able to give pets consistent attention rather than rushed visits. With enough advance notice, overnight house sitting is absolutely an option as well, allowing me to provide extended, attentive care when needed. I care for pets with the same attention, respect, and love I give my own. I follow each pet’s established routine closely—feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special instructions—to help them feel safe and comfortable. In a client’s home, I prioritize calm, low-stress visits, keeping their space clean and their pet happy, exercised, and well cared for. Whether it’s active play, gentle companionship, or simply being a reassuring presence, I tailor my care to each pet’s needs and personality, treating every animal as if they were part of my family.
“Thank you so much Renee! I appreciate you always being reliable and taking such great care of my babies. You went above and beyond buying more kitty food when I ran out. I can’t thank you enough!”
About: My style is very gentle, understanding, and affectionate, though I am also very clear with boundaries and behaviors. I was a foster parent for Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico for three years. I have special experience with pregnant dogs and cats, newborns, and I have a big soft spot for senior pets. I am an avid hiker and walker, so your babies will get plenty of exercise! I am a retired childbirth educator, doula, and Hypnotherapist. I am blessed to have my days to myself and am home all day except for errands and hikes. We live in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas. Since I'm retired, my schedule is wide open. Lana, my partner, works full time from home. Our two little 5 year old poodle mixes are used to welcoming and entertaining new furry friends, since they have "fostered" many dogs over the years.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Black Mountain. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
