“Matthew was very responsive and thorough. He watched my three cats for a couple days and did a great job refreshing their area and keeping an eye on them. He even watered my Christmas tree while we were away! I would definitely recommend him and use his services again :).”

“Shannon was so responsive and helpful with my kitties! Really appreciated the updates about how they were doing each day. I knew my cats were taken good care of!”

“Rachel was a great pet sitter for our kitty, Bandit!! Rachel was very responsive and communicative which made her meeting Bandit, going over Bandit's care, and getting keys, etc., all easy and seamless! It is clear she loves and understands pets very well. We were away for over 2 weeks and Rachel came for daily visits during that time - she sent photos and updates each day and it was clear that Bandit was very happy and well cared for. Upon our return everything was is good order and Bandit greeted us with a kitty "smile"! We highly recommend Rachel, and hope to have her care for Bandit when we next need kitty care!”

“Alex is an absolutely lovely human. Reliable, good-natured, understanding, and a natural with animals. My pups were happy and well taken care of while I was away. Highly recommend!! Thank you so much, Alex!”
“Grayson is amazing. I recently adopted a Great Dane who had a rough start to life and need someone who can help me show him how kind people can be. Grayson is the perfect person for this. Even when my dog jumps on him, he just laughs like he's never been happier. I feel so lucky to have him to look after my pup while I'm at work.”

About: I have 4 years of professional animal care experience, and have grown up around dogs and cats. I’ve provided care for dogs, cats and reptiles. I’m comfortable working with animals with special needs. I currently work full-time on week days from 8-4. If you live within 10 minutes of West Asheville I am able to provide bathroom breaks every 4 hours. If you live further out, I can provide breaks every 8 hours. I have a decent amount of flexibility in my schedule and I have no pets of my own, so all of my attention can be on your fur babies!! I can’t currently offer boarding in my home as my roommate has a dog, but I am happy to come to your house. If needed, I can provide plant care during my stay, and will ensure you come home to a clean house and happy animals.

About: I have been taking care of other people's animals since middle school and just love getting to know your pets! Experience with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, and fish! Willing to take on pets with medical needs! I work 40 hours over 5 days days a week. I am typically away from the house from 9 am - 5 pm or 11 am - 7 pm. Depending on your location, I may be able to pop back to the house on my short lunch break. I am comfortable walking your animals on leashes, pushing them in strollers, using a treadmill, playing with them in the yard, or whatever else is your routine and preference!
“This was our first experience with Alexis and we could not be more pleased. We came home to 2 very happy kitties thanks to Alexis's care. What more can you ask for?! Alexis kept us informed, sent pictures, and executed perfectly. Thanks Alexis!”

“Susan was amazing!! She sent wonderful and detailed updates, and was so thoughtful to send pictures every day. It was such a relief to know our sweet baby was in such good hands. We can't recommend Susan enough!”

“Anne was amazing with our nervous 1 year old GSP puppy. She was patient and got him to relax and took him on a great walk! Thank you so much Anne!! ☺️ We will definitely have her look after him again in the future🩷”

“Andrea did drop in visits for my 2 cats while I was away. She always sent lots of photos & gave a description about what she did when she was there each time. My cats seem to love her. I would definitely recommend Andrea to anyone looking for a sitter! :)”

“Bradly did a great job watching our two dogs while we were out of town for a few days. We had him drop in 3 times a day. He arrived promptly at the designated times, fed, walked and played with our pups. He is very kind and responsive giving us comfort that they were getting the attention they need. Our English Springer Spaniel is full of energy and Brad was able to give him the play time fetching sticks to burn off some of his energy. We live on a few acres so having someone that is also active was important to us. We trusted Bradly with our home and pets and would definitely use him again.”

“Valerie went out of her way to befriend our shy dog and took extra time with him so he would feel comfortable. She sent us texts and photos to let us know how he was doing. I will definitely book with her again when we need a sitter.”

“Ashley was professional and nice to work with. I can tell she is compassionate and genuinely cares about all animals. She has a calm demeanor and offered many helpful tips for my dog, Kelso. She was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule.”

About: I have had many different animals my entire life including cats, ferrets, chinchillas, chickens, ducks, hamsters, rabbits… In my 20’s I founded “Not Just Pets, Professional Pet Care”. In my 30’s I founded “Equine Specialist, Care and Training”. I had horses for over 30 years. I trained, showed, pleasure road, belonged to 3 horse clubs and eventually started my own 4-H club. I have bred and trained Boston Terriers and German Shepherds. Currently, I have 4 dogs that I rescued from a SC kill shelter. I have worked with Aly from Coal Mountain and Karen from Arcadia Animal Rescue’s. Both have been amazed by how well adjusted the four dogs have become considering how terrified they were in which no one else would take a chance on. Animals are my passion and greatest friends! I am currently taking an online course to become a Certified Canine Massage Therapist. I work for myself taking care of Seniors and animals. Relocated 04.07.2025 from Maine. I make my own schedule and am flexible to care for your furry family! Every situation can be different. Meeting with the client and their animals is important. I like to know about any vices, medications, vet info, where supplies are at, etc. Taking notes and leaving daily notes for each client keeps communication open and I find is appreciated.
About: I've taken care of just about every animal since I was born. Especially cats and dogs but I've also taken care of reptiles, fish, chickens, rats, gerbils, hamsters, and even bugs. I've handled difficult dog breeds including pitbulls and preydriven rottweilers in a cat home. I am also not shy to pee or poop or any sick pets as I've been in and out of the vets offices as well. Im looking to possibly make this full time. So I am available just about whenever you need me to be there. This includes weekends as well. I am very pet friendly and enjoy being interactive no matter the species. Whether it's letting the crickets run so the bearded dragon can get some exercise or walking the puppy around the yard.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Old Fort. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
