“Jackie was so great with my puppy Harley! She kept me updated with pics throughout her stay which made me so comfortable. I could tell Harley was happy and got lots of excercise while with her. Jackie even went out of her way for me and came to pick up my puppy when I was stuck with a flat tire. I would definitely recommend Jackie and will use her again in the future. :)”

“Bryan and Jacquelyn took great care of our dog Lucy. They gave us daily updates and pictures. Lucy was allowed on their couch and bed and from the pictures felt like she was very comfortable and felt right at home. We would highly recommend commend them and will book them next time a need comes up for us and if they are available.”

“Kate and her family were amazing with our fluffy boy. They treated him like a member of the family while we were on vacation. We were away for 10 days and Kate kept us posted with daily photos of Kofi. Our flight back was delayed due to a blizzard. Kate and her family were so accommodating in extending his stay on such short notice. We felt at ease knowing that our Kofi was in good hands and loved!”

“Carine took such great care of our Daisy, and was really good with communication. Carine was also very flexible with a change in pick up time frame, which we really appreciated!”

“Super accommodating for my dog’s first time ever boarding. Communication was smooth and daily. My dog had a lot of fun with a couple other dogs and came back calm and healthy.”

“Susan was great with our senior dog! We loved getting the daily updates and could tell our pup received excellent care and his routine was very similar to the one he keeps at our home. Would recommend Susan in a heartbeat!”

“Once again Bhavani was a perfect host for our Bernedoodle. She followed all our instructions and special requests and sent us video/pictures updates several times a day, so we were always informed and at ease during our vacation. We could not be happier with Bhavani’s services and will definitely use her again for our next trip out of town.”

“Margarita was great with Blossom. Blossom is a bit timid but Margarita made her feel so comfortable. Margarita sent plenty of updates, photos and videos, which kept our mind at ease. Will definitely be using Margarita again!”

“I am so happy and blessed to have gotten Bydette recommended to me to watch my puppy during my stay in New Jersey. She has a lovely family and the most adorable children. My puppy fell in love with them immediately. She kept me updated with everything that was going on and kept me updated when I expressed with her he was having some tummy problems. I just knew he was in awesome hands, I didn’t worry one bit. I will definitely book again next time I am in town! If I could give more stars I would.”

“Highly recommend Jessica! She was so amazingly helpful when we were in a bind. Maggie loved spending time with Jessica. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Maggie”

“10/10 every time. Carol and her family take the absolute best care of Max we could ever ask for. Their home has become our dog's vacation home while we are away! Thank you so much for all you do and for making us feel comfortable and worry-free while he's with you.”
“I have a 12 yr cockapoo who requires daily medication. Noria has been our overnight sitter since April 2024. She only takes one dog in addition to her own sweet Milo. Noria is incredibly kind, smart, professional, loves dogs and has a gentle/loving way in interacting with my Kobe. She has been truly a blessing to find! My family and I are assured that when we leave Kobe for an overnight with Noria that he is being cared for as if he is part of her family. Kobe can be an anxious dog and slow to warm up to people. She has a patient and playful disposition. From the first time he met her he was happy, calm and it was evident that he felt secure in her care. The medication and feeding instructions have always been followed and understood. We appreciate the photos she sends and the updates as to how he is doing. Noria is a genuine individual who has been a complete joy for our family to work with. We are so happy that she has been caring for Kobe. When we go away we know he looks forward to his time with Noria and Milo!”

“Gail took great care of sully while we were away. She is very caring and our dog seemed to feel very comfortable and relaxed in her home. She is very responsive and provides good updates. We were able to enjoy our vacation without worrying if sully was doing ok.”

“Anny was wonderful with our dog Simba! She was kind, polite, and professional from start to finish. We especially appreciated the frequent updates and photos she sent while we were away — it gave us total peace of mind. Simba came home happy and healthy, which says it all. We would absolutely book Anny again and highly recommend her to any pet parents.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
