“We were in desperate need of someone we could trust to watch our anxious rescue pup, Piper, during our wedding weekend. Lana was extremely patient with both Piper, and my husband and I, even agreeing to meet us several times before the stay to get us all comfortable. She sent numerous pictures and updates, which calmed our nerves so we could fully enjoy our wedding. Thank you Lana for taking great care of Piper, we will definitely be contacting her again if we ever need someone to dog sit Piper in the future.”
“Hadija did a great job taking care of our precious Max. She arrived promptly on time and followed all of our instructions. She communicated with us regularly by sending us updates as well as pictures and videos of Max. Max enjoyed playing fetch with her and it seemed like he really took to her. I would certainly recommend Hadija to take care of your pets.”

“I entrusted my fur-daughter, Bella to Elizabeth, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the very beginning, Elizabeth was professional, friendly, and clearly cared for animals. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process, and Elizabeth was extremely detail-oriented, asking great questions about Bella’s needs, habits and preferences. She provided so many regular updates, photos and videos that I knew Bella was in great hands. After we got back, the next morning our pup was sniffing around the house with her toy, looking to play with her buddy Elizabeth, that’s when I knew Bella really had bonded! I highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy dog sitter. If you are looking for a responsible adult look no further! I will definitely be booking with Elizabeth again in the future!”

“We will continue to book Ethan again and again. He took the best care of our large dog, checked in each day, and left the house in better shape than he found it. Super professional, kind, and our dog just loved him. Highly recommend.”

“Brittany was great to work with! She was communicative, arrived on time and was very responsible and engaging with my dogs. She sent us pictures during her visit and everyone was happy when we came home! We would definitely book pet sitting with Brittany again!”

About: I’ve grown up in a house filled with dogs and cats my whole life. In the last year, I have turned taking care of animals into a part time gig and am looking to do more of it! I currently work some nights in the evening but usually fill my days with walks and drop ins and am looking to increase the amount of families I help. I promise to be very respectful of your home and take care of your pets the way I would hope someone would take care of mine.
“Lauren is amazing!! Our pup is very suspicious of everyone but took to Lauren right away ! Cedric receive great care for the 3 days, we got lots of photos and the house was immaculate when we got home!!! Lauren is super! The Howard family”

“Hans did a fantastic job taking care of my elderly Shih tzu, needing two different eye drops twice a day. He also tried to make tempting meals for her when her appetite was low. He sent me great pictures almost every day which set my mind at ease. I could not recommend anyone more highly than Hans.”
About: I’ve spent the last 6 years caring for dogs and cats for families in my neighborhood, including puppies, high‑energy dogs, and seniors who need a gentler pace. I regularly do dog walking, drop‑in visits, and house sitting, and I follow each pet’s routine closely—feeding, medications, walks, and playtime. I treat every animal like my own, send lots of photo updates, and make sure they feel safe, loved, and relaxed while their people are away. I’m a college student, so my availability is best during school breaks and holidays. When I’m home in New Jersey, I’m generally free on both weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to work around your travel plans. I keep my calendar up to date and respond quickly so we can find times that fit your schedule. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick closely to the routines you already have in place—feeding schedule, walk times, and house rules. I always double‑check doors, gates, and leashes, and I watch for any changes in behavior or appetite that might signal a problem. I’m respectful of your home, keep things tidy, and send clear updates and photos so you always know how your pets are doing.
About: Hi! I’m an animal lover who enjoys spending time with dogs of all sizes and personalities. While I’m new to professional dog walking, I’ve helped walk friends’ dogs, played with them, and assisted with their care when needed. I’m dependable, patient, and committed to making every dog feel safe, happy, and well cared for. Whether your pup loves long walks, playtime, or extra affection, I’ll tailor each visit to their needs and always follow your instructions carefully. I’ll also send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friend! Dog walking fits easily into my weekly routine. I have flexible availability during the early mornings, evenings, and some mid-day hours depending on the day, which allows me to consistently take on walks. I’ve helped walk dogs for friends and enjoy being active, so I’m comfortable building this into my schedule regularly. I make sure to plan ahead and keep commitments organized so each dog gets reliable, attentive care and a consistent walking routine. I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions provided by the owner. My goal is to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed while you’re away. For dog walking, I focus on giving each dog a safe and enjoyable walk based on their energy level and personality—whether that’s a relaxed stroll or a more active walk with plenty of time to sniff and explore. When I’m in a client’s home, I’m respectful of the space, keep things clean, and make sure pets are safe and happy at all times. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel at ease knowing their pet is well cared for.

About: I have always been an animal lover. I’ve had 4 rescue animals - 1 dog and 3 cats. Currently I have an 8 year old Dutch Shepherd/ Lab mix named Eli. I’m comfortable with all types of dogs. Big, small, rescue, I will care after them like they are my own! I look forward to hearing from you to learn more about you and your pup!
“Jordyn was amazing with my pitbull Leah! She really cared about her routine and well being. My dog has a lot of separation anxiety so when I left she didn’t eat much. Jordyn kept me informed and even went out of her way to cook her some chicken and rice to help her to start eating again and help stomach issues. Leah is also very strong and can pull hard at times and she had no issues walking her. I have been so scared to leave my dog with someone for this long (6 nights). So I feel so happy I found Jordyn so I can vacation without being nervous about Leah. I recommend 100%!”

“Wilson was awesome! Our dog isn’t the friendliest with others, but Wilson took a chance with our family and we’re so grateful that he did. We gave him very specific instructions since our dog is very particular, and he followed everything perfectly. On top of that, he made the effort to play with our dog and give him attention — and to our surprise, our dog (who usually takes a long time to warm up to anyone) was comfortable with Wilson in just two days! He truly went above and beyond. We are so grateful and thankful. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and highly recommend Wilson to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and caring person to watch their pet. Highly recommend!”

About: Experience helping raise puppy/younger dogs and training, also have experience with adult/senior foster dogs. Includes walking, bathing, trips to the dog park, feeding, training, treat/crate training I also looooove brushing dogs, the fluffier the better! I like to stay home on weekends with my senior dog Sapphire. Shes a rescue and very calm (she doesn’t bark) and absolutely loves other dogs! We love to take walks and play on the patio outside. I am pretty much free from Wednesday evenings-Saturday nights! Although I live in an apartment, I keep my living room and general space wide and accessible which is easier and less stressful for the dogs. I have a back patio we can play on (not black so the heat won’t hurt their paws), and have a park and yard across the street! I will give your pup lots of love and cuddles and they will definitely be a little spoiled! I also will feed them in a separate area from my dog but bring them back together to play :)

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Basking Ridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Basking Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Basking Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
