Toni swooped in at the last minute when another Sitter backed out on me! During the meet and greet, she got right down on the floor with Pucca to meet her and play with her. Pucca absolutely loves her! I could tell by the way Pucca got majorly excited and happy when Toni came back for a visit today to pick up a couple of things that were accidentally left behind. Pucca was so happy to see her that I'm convinced she was treated well and with love and affection. I was away for 8 days. Toni arrived on time and I was able to get an early visit start so that I could make it to the airport on time. When my friend's truck broke down and I thought I may be later than expected arriving home, she had no problem with it. (I was on time though). She even said she didn't mind taking Pucca to my Vet to get her Citopoint shot and glands done. (I was going to get an appointment when I got home, now I don't have to). With my permission, she took Pucca along with her to her place when she went home to do laundry. When I asked for a Video Chat here and there, I was accommodated. It is my opinion that Pucca was well loved, cared for and looked after while I was away. ***NOTE*** Upon my return, I found a typwritten "Toni's Care Notes for Pucca" stating her eating habits, walk schedule & health. Nice touch.

This is the first time we have had Roxanne sit for our dog Minnie and we will definitely be asking her to sit for us in the future. Roxanne sent us daily updates, pictures and videos of Minnie. Knowing that Minnie was well cared for made it easier leaving her for our vacation. We highly recommend Roxanne as a pet sitter.

About: I have been taking care of pets ever since I was a child. I grew up on a farm. I have more than 20 years experience with large and small animals. I have a lot of patience for animals and understand their needs are unique to each individual animal. I have experience in potty training, dogs and cats both. I have experience in cleaning after large farm animals as well as administering vaccinations and medications to them. I am a disabled veteran and a stay at home. Mother and I have plenty of time to offer to your furry friends! When they are in My Home, they will be with me at all times. I have a fenced in yard. I have a boxer and lab mix who is very friendly with other dogs. My animals stay inside where it is warm and safe unless they are playing or going potty.

Trisha was a great dog and house sitter. Our two young dogs were happy to see us come home but it was clear that they had been well taken care of. They ate well, which shows that they weren't stressed about our absence. They had obviously had a lot of attention. I recommend Trish wholeheartedly for anyone else. Karen

About: I’ve been around dogs since I can remember! My family is what you call foster failures, we’ve always had 4 or more dogs since elementary school. From puppies to seniors I’ve seen and cared for them all! I’d love the chance to meet your fur baby too! I also have a 1 year old son who’d be tagging along! 😃 Im currently a stay at home mom so I have plenty of time on my hands to help you out, give your baby some lovin and get some energy out! My husband is allergic to pet dander so I am unable to do pet care at my home but tell me what you need when you need it and I am able to provide services in your home! I can crate, walk, play, and give medications. Whatever I can help you with I will do my best! :)

About: I’ve been an animal lover for as long as I can remember! I’ve owned everything from dogs, cats, rodents, birds and insects over the years. I’ve been a volunteer at pet rescues over the years and have an extra-special fondness for pets in their golden years. I’ve done a lot of pet sitting over the years, which has included everything from walks, baths and play to administering medication and cleaning up accidents - there isn’t a lot that phases me. I treat each pet like I would my own, giving them the same love, care and attention they get from their family. I look forward to doing the same for yours 😊 I work from home during the week with a flexible schedule which allows me the opportunity to care for pets during the day - whether it’s for a walk, a check-in for a potty break, or even just for some cuddles and play. My goal is to keep your pet as comfortable as possible, which means I’m happy to follow whatever routine it is that you have set. Does Max need their food heated up to a specific temperature so they’ll eat it? Done. Does Gabby need to be crated? No problem. All pets are unique, so their needs can be too. I always go over routines and preferences with parents to make sure your pet is happy and comfortable. I know when I have entrusted my pet to someone else I love getting pictures, so you can rest assured if you do too I will send them as much as you want! You are also always welcome to ask for them anytime, no matter how often. As your pets wellbeing is my priority, I can ensure my focus is 100% on them when we’re together.

Lexi is friendly, thoughtful, considerate, and very easy to work with. She is thorough and asks questions/makes suggestions about things I wish I had thought of!

Nellie was absolutely wonderful and took such great care of our little munchkins! She had great attention to detail with our little ones. Specifically, one of our puppies has a history of seizures and requires medication multiple times a day. Nellie also sent pictures and updates on how they were all doing which was comforting given it was one of our longest trips away from home.

FAQs for House Sitting - Arlington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Arlington on Rover is $66.25 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 2,179 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Arlington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Arlington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Arlington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Arlington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Arlington. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
