“Dachshunds approved. I booked Morgan for drop in visits while we were out of town. I was kind of nervous on how my 2 judgy wienerdogs would do, but somehow she won them over, and the pictures she sent proved it. So happy it all worked out.”

“I loved this service. It was very comforting to see the pictures and reports with how Teddy was. Justus was very good with Teddy and even brought my mail and deliveries in while I was away!”

“Vivian took exceptional care of our fur babies while we were gone for a long vacation! She took the time to bond and play with our cats and sent us detailed updates with pictures. We had great peace of mind knowing they were in her care! She was super accommodating as well and even watered our flowers and filled plant humidifiers daily! Definitely recommend her services!”

“I needed last minute care for my dogs before a trip and she was amazing. She took great care of my dogs even through my dogs weren’t used to new people visiting the apartment. She even checked in on them during bad weather. Really appreciate the help and would recommend.”

“Allison was a fantastic sitter for our cat Millie! She was very attentive and communicative throughout our trip with daily updates. I knew that Millie was in good hands and she sure showed it once we returned home. Will book again!”

“Jenevieve is the best dog sitter I’ve had for my dog!! So understanding, helpful, and accommodating! I can’t say enough good things about her and my dog also just loves hanging out with her”

“Angie immediately jumped in when I found myself in a predicament without coverage for my medically high needs cat. It was short notice and we were a new client and yet Angie was willing to take care of her. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE other than myself has been able to give my cat her medications… yet somehow Angie was able to do it. She came at the agreed upon times like clockwork and communicated so well while I was gone. I am so thankful to have found someone to help care for my cat when I have to be gone. Will definitely be using Angie again when the need arises!!!”

About: What truly sets me apart is that I don’t just view pet sitting as a job; I view it through the lens of a dedicated pet parent. My own 80lb German Shepherd/Husky mix is my absolute entire world, and raising a large, highly intelligent, and high-energy breed has given me incredible hands-on experience. Because of my background, I am entirely comfortable, confident, and physically capable of handling large breeds and managing strong pullers on walks with secure, attentive leash handling. I am also deeply attuned to unique personality quirks, whether a dog has high-energy mental stimulation needs, a specific grazing/eating habit that requires patience, or anxiety around changes in routine. I treat every single animal with the exact same level of devotion, love, and strict safety standards that I give my own. Because my own dog is the center of my life, a pet-centric schedule is already second nature to me. My daily routine is built entirely around consistent morning and evening walks, and plenty of dedicated playtime and mental stimulation. Integrating your pet into my schedule is easy because I am already very active, organized, and adhere to a structured routine at home. I am able to do this because I work from home and my work schedule is very flexible. Whether I am stopping by for a drop-in visit, or taking your dog for a walk, your pet becomes a natural extension of my day. I treat every single animal with the exact same level of devotion, love, and strict safety standards that I give my own. When caring for your pet in your home, my absolute highest priorities are safety, emotional comfort, and respect for your space. I will strictly adhere to your specific instructions, security preferences, and your dog’s established routine to keep their stress levels at zero and to give you peace of mind when you have to be away from them. I know how much trust it takes to let someone into your home, and to leave your furry loved one in the care of someone else. I treat every single animal with the exact same level of devotion, love, and strict safety standards that I give my own.
“We absolutely love Rachel! She kept us up to date on our fur babies, sending cute photos and kind notes with each rover card. Our dog and cat were well loved while we were out of town.”

“LOVE all the care Ash has with my cat, Gucci. I’m traveling for a month and Ash has been very communicative, helpful and supportive all the time. She answers me in a timely manner, send pictures and makes me feel safe with my choice of choosing her to take care of my cat. Best choice ever.”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and have over 7 years of hands-on pet care experience. Growing up with dogs taught me how to understand their different personalities and needs. I also have a Shih Tzu of my own, so I know how important it is to provide pets with love, patience, and a safe environment. In addition, I’ve cared for my sister’s dogs, helping with feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and making sure they feel comfortable while she’s away. I understand that every dog is unique, and I’ll treat your pet with the same love and care I give my own. You can count on me to provide reliable, attentive, and compassionate care while you’re away. I currently work part-time at a daycare, which has helped me become responsible, patient, and dependable. I’m fully available on Thursdays and Fridays, and I’m available Monday through Wednesday after 8:00 p.m. I’m hoping to make pet care my full-time career through Rover, so I’m committed to providing reliable, loving, and attentive care for every pet. I’ll always make sure your furry family member gets the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I’ll take the time to learn your dog’s routine, feeding schedule, and any special needs so they receive the best care possible. I have a friendly Shih Tzu of my own, and I always make sure introductions are done safely and only if everyone is comfortable. Whether we’re going on leashed walks, playing, or relaxing at home, I’ll provide a safe, clean, and loving environment. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.
“Holly did a great job caring for our cats this weekend. I really appreciated her attention to detail. She clearly read all the instructions we left and did everything just right. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve loved and owned dogs since I was a small child. My first pet as an adult was a cat. Since then, we have adopted and loved a previous military trained explosives German Shepherd, a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix (recently passed 2/27/26 😢), and also the partial owner of (with my ex-spouse) a police K9 Belgian Malinois. The K9 was brought home at 8 weeks and trained in-house (both at home and at work, but trained by my ex-husband). I love all dogs- big and small. I currently work full time, but work in the office 2 days/week, which makes me have a lot of flexibility to help out during the week and during the day time. My pets have always been considered my children. I am comfortable with leashing and controlling dogs in a variety of situations. I am situationally aware and avoid interacting with other dogs while walking, as I know those are unpredictable situations.
“She did a wonderful job caring for my sick and yet very energetic husky. Super nice woman and a very good caretaker. My husky threw a temper tantrum when she saw me walk through the front door instead of Farra 😂”

About: I have lots of experience working with dogs with Thyroid disorders, joint problems, hip problems, diabetes, and special diets. I'm very flexible. All you have to do is ask and we'll see. I've had Chocolate Labs, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Poodles, Terriers, and Shih Tzus. I love animals especially puppies and dogs. I am also willing to watch your cats if you also have them. I wanted to be a veterinarian or veterinary assistant but I didn't quite have the grades for it so that's why I decided to become a dog sitter, a dog walker, pet care taker, dog lover, and pet lover. I will take the best care of your pet and love it like my very own. Hope to hear from you soon. I'm available for house sitting on weekends and some week nights just ask me. Availability for pet care all week depending on the hours needed. I always accompany pets when they are outside even in a fenced in yard. I take short or long walks depending on what is requested.
About: I’ve been fostering adult dogs for the ARL for the last few years and have had so much fun getting to learn about a variety of breeds, personalities and behaviors. I’ve also had many pets throughout my life, including my current fur babies Raven (dog) and Lilo (cat). I’m currently working as a freelancer and am available throughout the day. I do participate in recreational sports on some evenings, otherwise I can be very flexible! I love to be outside and enjoy nothing more than letting dogs unwind on a long walk. I’m also happy to play fetch or tug, go to a nearby park or engage in whatever style of play your pup prefers.
“Hallen was very communicative and took great care of our pup! She was respectful of our space and kept us updated during her drop in, which included feeding our anxious, reactive pup and taking her on a walk.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Altoona. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
