“I am very happy with how our dogs seemed to enjoy her visit. Vivian was prompt and communicated with us. I am very happy to have her take care of our girls. I will definitely have her again.”

“Allison did a perfect job checking in on my two cats while I was out of town. Booking her was fast and easy. She is punctual, respectful, follows directions, and is very communicative. She gave a thorough update and went above and beyond in her care. I definitely recommend booking with her. Thanks again, Allison!”

About: My grandfather was a veterinarian for 50 years. I fortunately got to grow up living with them & was able to see animals of all ages, shapes & sizes. I don’t think there was a day where I wasn’t with him at the office “helping” out (scooping poop and cleaning kennels). In my own adult life, i have 4 of my own animals who I treat better than myself 🤣 i love them to pieces and always do my best to ensure their needs are met. You can expect me to do the same for you! My 17 yr old man Tiger has some extra care needs so I am 100% comfortable with doing extra care needs for your animals. I’m a social worker that is able to make her schedule most weeks. I work from home a few days a week and am able to make a flexible schedule. You can trust me to provide for your animals as I provide for my own. I work for the State of Iowa & have passed a background check with no concern.
“Daniel took my guy on a generous long walk, and even brought him a friend to walk his (Daniel’s dog). Polite, respectful and right on time. Will be using Daniel again!”

“Jen was great, she took very good care of our babies. She sent lots of pictures which made us fell like we made a good choice having Jen watch our dogs.”

“Absolutely amazing! This was my first time trying Rover and I look forward to using it again! Christina was amazing and responded quickly to my very short notice request. She was loving and caring to my 2 cats and my crazy high energy German Shepard. 10/10 would book with her again and will recommend to any fur parents I know in the future!”

“Kayla was great! She was friendly and immediately loved on our cat during our initial meet and greet! She was prompt with her drop ins and kept us well informed while we were away! Her report cards were fun to read and she always included great pics to let us know the cat was well taken care of!”

“I needed last minute care for my dogs before a trip and she was amazing. She took great care of my dogs even through my dogs weren’t used to new people visiting the apartment. She even checked in on them during bad weather. Really appreciate the help and would recommend.”

“Ash has been amazing, from beginning to end!! Great communication, and my pup must love her, because he is way better behaved for her than us, LOL!! Highly recommend!!”

“Jean has been wonderful with our dog, and I highly recommend her! She's been reliable, caring, and communicative every time. Rico absolutely loves when she comes over, which gives us so much peace of mind whenever we're away. It's clear she genuinely cares about him, and we always know he's in great hands.”

“My dogs and cat were in such good hands. Highly recommend him. Will use again and again. Was in another country and he was so patient with my payment issue. I didn’t have to worry even at 3700 miles away.”

“Austin is our go-to! He takes great care of our two cats and is super willing to adjust to their needs/wants to minimize stress and keep them as happy as they can be until we return home.”

“Was so great squeezing us in last minute, went right over and let the dogs out. They had a blast with her, and she even messaged to get a towel to wipe their paws since it was wet out! Thank you!!!”

“Hallen was very communicative and took great care of our pup! She was respectful of our space and kept us updated during her drop in, which included feeding our anxious, reactive pup and taking her on a walk.”

About: I have lots of experience working with dogs with Thyroid disorders, joint problems, hip problems, diabetes, and special diets. I'm very flexible. All you have to do is ask and we'll see. I've had Chocolate Labs, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Poodles, Terriers, and Shih Tzus. I love animals especially puppies and dogs. I am also willing to watch your cats if you also have them. I wanted to be a veterinarian or veterinary assistant but I didn't quite have the grades for it so that's why I decided to become a dog sitter, a dog walker, pet care taker, dog lover, and pet lover. I will take the best care of your pet and love it like my very own. Hope to hear from you soon. I'm available for house sitting on weekends and some week nights just ask me. Availability for pet care all week depending on the hours needed. I always accompany pets when they are outside even in a fenced in yard. I take short or long walks depending on what is requested.
About: Growing up with Great Danes taught me many important lessons. I have taken care of dogs with disabilities and medications, along with young puppies. Loving animals means treating them like they are your own. Currently, I am full time at my position for a remote company which allows a generally open schedule. I do have some travel days but they are limited. I prefer for pets to stay in their home, making them feel comfortable and safe. Along with the pets, I want you to have someone reliable and responsible helping out.

Rachel is amazing! Maybe a "cat whisperer?!" First time leaving my dog for more than 1 night. I loved the pics I got more than I expected! It eased my mind, so I could concentrate on my work trip duties. She gave great care & love to my 2 cats and 1 dog. Highly recommend! Good job, I will use again!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Capitol Heights. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
