“We went out of town just after Christmas and needed a dog sitter. We were very pleased to come home to a happy, healthy pup, we had great communication the whole time and received a set of pictures and updates every evening. We will be using Maria Abigail‘s dog sitting service again!”

“Alexis was truly phenomenal, and I can’t recommend her enough! She went above and beyond every expectation we had. From the very beginning, her communication was outstanding. She kept us updated with thoughtful messages, adorable photos, and detailed check-ins that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She was also an incredibly respectful house guest, leaving everything spotless and treating our home with such care. Most importantly, she absolutely spoiled Shadow! She made sure he had all of his favorite things, gave him so much love and attention, and kept him happy, comfortable, and entertained the entire time. It was so clear that she genuinely cared for him as if he were her own. Coming home to a happy, relaxed pup says everything. Alexis made the entire experience stress-free, and I am so grateful for the care she provided. We will absolutely be booking with her again and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pet like family!”

“Desiré took good care of my puppy she was left alone at home sadly we forgot to refill her food container plus we temporarily lost the key so she was left with no security at home. I’m thankful I was able to find her and got a response immediately and came home fed her and took her for a 4 walks! Stayed 5 hrs while we were away. Thank you so much for your service!”

“Eric was a great dog and house sitter, he took care of everything as we discussed. He was on time and quick to respond with any questions we had. He even took care of the laundry for the sheets and towels he used! Highly recommend him!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was little, including my own pit bull and shih tzu. Having experience with both high energy and low energy dogs has taught me how to adjust my care to fit each pup’s needs. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and provide loving attention to their pets. Whether your dog needs active playtime or a calm, cozy companion, I’ll make sure they feel happy, safe, and cared for. I work from home, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m available throughout the day and week. This allows me to give your pets plenty of attention, playtime, and care whenever they need it. When caring for pets in their own home, I do my best to keep their routine the same so they feel comfortable and secure. I’ll make sure they’re fed on schedule, get plenty of walks or playtime, and always have fresh water. I’ll also give them lots of love and attention, and I’m happy to send photo updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away.
“Aaliya was fantastic. For our initial meeting before the job, she came over and stayed and chatted with me for over an hour. I felt very comfortable around her (as did my pets), and I felt good about her staying in my home for the weekend. She was super punctual and communicative (lots of photo and video updates!), and she left my house at least as good as it was when I left, if not better. Without hesitation, I would book with Aaliya again!”

“We Loved having Kimmie take care of our fur baby! What a peace of mind knowing someone was there tending to all her needs! We will use her again next time we need someone to watch our girl! Thank you!”

“From the first meeting w/Daniel to my return home post-trip, it was a very smooth experience. I know watching four dogs at once can be a bit much, so was grateful to return home to find my fur family so happy. Dogs and house were left in great hands. Will definitely book again!”

“Claire was so helpful showing up to take care of Luna and Kiki last minute so I could go see my grandmother in the hospital. She made my travel and time spent with family worry free knowing my girls were taken care of. Thank you so so much!”

About: I have over 6 years of experience with dog training and 3 years of professional experience working in a veterinary setting. Throughout my life, I have also owned and cared for animals of my own, giving me a strong understanding of their needs, personalities, and behaviors. I am comfortable providing attentive, reliable, and loving care while ensuring pets feel safe, comfortable, and happy. My experience has taught me the importance of patience, responsibility, and treating every animal as an individual. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I’m comfortable making time each day for feeding, walks, playtime, training, cleaning, and giving pets plenty of attention and affection. My schedule allows me to be flexible and dependable, so I can prioritize a pet’s individual routine and make sure they receive consistent care while their owners are away. Unfortunately, I’m only able to provide pet care in the client’s home, as I don’t currently have the space to care for pets in my own home. I would also have to bring my personal dog along if I am doing House Sitting. My dog is crate trained so I keep her crated overnight or if I do need to run somewhere. I’m happy to provide attentive, reliable care while maintaining your pet’s normal routine. I can follow instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, bathroom breaks, and any other specific needs. I’ll also make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away, while keeping your home clean and secure.
“Natalie took great care of Daisy and our house. She was very communicative and responsive from the second we contacted her. We will definitely be reaching out to Natalie again to watch Daisy.”

About: I I bring a lifetime of love for dogs and fresh energy to every furry friend I meet! I grew up with dogs and understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and loved when their parents are away. What makes me special: • Flexible schedule - I work from home/have availability for extra attention and playtime • Genuine dog lover - Your pet won't just be watched, they'll be genuinely cared for and spoiled • Detail-oriented - I follow routines exactly and provide detailed updates with photos I'm excited to build lasting relationships with both pets and their families. Your dog's happiness and your peace of mind are my top priorities!" Pet care seamlessly integrates into my daily routine with morning walks, midday play sessions, and evening cuddle time - your dog becomes part of my everyday life. Your dog's safety and comfort are my absolute priorities. My home features a fully fenced yard where dogs can play and exercise securely without any escape risks. Before any stay, I conduct a thorough meet-and-greet to ensure your pup gets along well with my two friendly, well-socialized dogs who love having playmates.
“Leslie was great with my pup Bogey! She communicated often, sent pictures and kept me updated on everything during the stay. The house was probably better than I had left it when I got home! I will definitely use Leslie again!”

About: I currently have three cats and a dog! Im very well rounded in terms of animal care, safety, and enrichment. I am a nursing school student so I can promise you safety is my top priority if your baby needs special care, I can safely administer injectable medications if needed. I am free day or night. I will always work with you to accommodate even the most last minute scheduling. I am currently available reliably Friday-Monday with occasional by request times available on other days. Message me if you are unsure! I provide personalized care based on each pet’s routine and needs. I follow feeding schedules, refresh water, clean litter boxes, administer medications if needed, and make sure pets receive plenty of attention, playtime, and affection. I have worked with Senior and disabled animals so I am able to provide a well rounded range of care. I can also send regular photo and video updates because I know how scary it can be to trust someone in your home with your babies. You will never be left wondering under my care. For cats- Having 3 of my own, I totally understand that every cat has a different personality! Whether your cat is social and loves attention or prefers space and a calm environment, I take the time to earn their trust and keep their routine consistent. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.

“Perfect! Our sweet fur babies were cared for so wonderfully, Yi sent many updates and pictures of our 3 boys and they seemed to enjoy her company as well. This was our first time using rover and we were so glad with who we allowed in our home and around our fur babies!!”

About: My family got our first dog when I was four, but I asked and received my own dog when I was 11. I was raised on a working farm, and the inside pets included non normative pets like mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, a ferrets, multiple dogs and cats. As an adult I've had the opportunity to care for multiple reptiles and snakes (frogs, toads, hissing cockroaches, tarantula, non venomous snakes, and leopard geckos) and also increased my knowledge of chinchillas, hedgehogs and many other non standard pets. I love all animals and my greatest strength is the vast array of knowledge and eagerness to learn and research better care for all species of pets! As of right now I am a recent transplant to Georgia and my current schedule is completely open. I am looking for both one time sitting opportunities and open to new repeat clients for business hours walks, potty breaks, med checks and feedings. I will always focus on making sure your pet is as happy and comfortable as possible. I personally have one dog who loves to meet other dogs, but is also happy being left to sleep in her bed all day. She is helpful for training reactive dogs as she doesn't mind noisy dogs and doesn't react to them at all. I love taking photos of dogs in their joy, so I will continually try to go the extra mile for your fur baby.
About: I’ve always taken care and had animals since I was just a little girl, I love animals and I think they are absolutely amazing, although this will be my first time dog sitting professionally I have always taken care of my parents friends animals and I take care of my roommates dogs all the time, and I have cats of my own that I take care of. I currently work 4:15am-9:15am some days, and some days I also work 4:15-12:45 but my schedule is always open since I get home early I have the whole day to take care of any animals. I do prefer to go to your house to dog/cat sit, and or to walk your pets, I am moving into an apartment complex so taking care of them in my area would be harder
“I highly recommend Eric! As a pet sitter myself, it’s tough leaving your beloved animals with someone else, but Eric took wonderful care of our two rescue dogs and one rescue cat. He provided daily updates with pictures … and we came back to happy animals and a clean home😊 Do yourself a favor and book him!”

“Ashley was awesome! Followed all instructions without fail. Sent regular updates including pictures. Responded very quickly if I needed anything. As close to perfect as I could have asked for.”

“Morgan took care of my 2 4 legged friends for 2 days. She was prompt and very communicative. I have one large dog and 1 small, very energetic, small dog that can keep anybody hopping. She handled them like a pro. Did a great job. She will be my first call any time I need someone to take of my best friends!! Strongly recommend her!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Allendale
It was my first time leaving my cat for a vacation. Ashley listened to my requests and responded promptly. Her updates were always top tier. She and her son tag teamed at nights to make sure my cat would have a good time (plenty of playing time) and not feel lonely. Her bowls were kept hygienic and water replenished as needed. Glad I found her to look after my cat!

Brenda was amazing! We just recently moved to the area and had to make a trip back to our hometown in NJ. We were very anxious trusting a brand new person in a brand new state! But Brenda gave us all the comfort we needed! She sent updated photos and videos of Nutella and checked in with us often. Nutella can be a handful with her anxiety and hiding from fireworks/thunderstorms and Brenda handled her so well! We could really tell because Nutella was happy go lucky when we arrived home. (Normally she’s hiding in a corner mad at us for leaving) But with Brenda, she was feeling her best. We would absolutely book her again and again!

Desiré took good care of my puppy she was left alone at home sadly we forgot to refill her food container plus we temporarily lost the key so she was left with no security at home. I’m thankful I was able to find her and got a response immediately and came home fed her and took her for a 4 walks! Stayed 5 hrs while we were away. Thank you so much for your service!

Words do not express how grateful I am for Temi. I was a first time Rover user, for an overnight stay for 5 days. I have two dogs that vary in temperament. We originally were simply going to board our dogs at a local pet “hotel”. These plans fell through, and we decided to give Rover a try. From the moment Temi decided to accept our overnight booking, she was VERY professional and personable. She asked all the right questions to understand how to best support our two fur babies while we were out of town. Her communication is TOP NOTCH, and she continued to update us via the APP. It felt good to get pictures and videos, which confirmed our first babies were happy and well cared for. Temi is amazing because she immediately caught on to helping our younger fur baby with improving her leash manners. In today’s society it’s not always you find someone who goes above and beyond. Temi did, and I am so appreciative that she accepted our booking. She will now be our go to for any out of town visits. Thank you 🙏🏾 so much Temi!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Allendale on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 4,592 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Allendale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Allendale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Allendale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Allendale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Allendale. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
