“Erin was absolutely phenomenal with our two cats. Both of them took to her quicker than anyone I've seen before! She was incredibly attentive and always made sure the cats had ample playtime, food, and water. We'll be happy to book Erin again for our next trip!”

“Christie takes great care of my cats while we are away. This was our second time booking with Christie and I am always confident our pets are well cared for. I highly recommend her!”

“I was very nervous about leaving my kitties with someone new but I could quickly tell they were in great hands with Lydia. She sent thoughtful updates every day and lots of pictures so I felt very comfortable knowing they were well taken care of and getting lots of love. I am so glad we found her!”

About: I grew up with German Shepherds and have always loved being around dogs. I currently have a small Pomeranian, so I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. I truly enjoy spending time with dogs, whether it’s going for a relaxing walk, an energetic run, or simply giving them plenty of attention and care. I’m responsible, caring, and will treat your dog like one of my own! I work full-time from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the week, I’m available before and after work for walks, drop-ins, and care. On weekends, I’m available throughout the entire day and can be flexible to accommodate your dog’s routine and needs. Your dog’s safety and well-being are my top priorities. I provide a calm, caring, and secure environment where every dog can feel comfortable and loved. I’m attentive to each dog’s personality, energy level, and individual needs, and I always follow your instructions regarding walks, feeding, medication, and routines. I believe trust is built through clear communication, reliability, and treating every pet with patience, respect, and genuine care.
“I seriously could not recommend someone more than laura. She has been so amazing and attentive with scout. Scout doesn't do well alone but we are trying to work on that and she has done such a great job. She takes the best care of him and has become a best buddy to scout. I am booking her for the rest of my semester to help out with my baby and recommend her to EVERYONE!!”

“Stephen is kind, prompt and really seemed to care about my aging dog Max. He had to give him an injection and several medication’s each visit. As long as you give him good instructions he’ll follow them to the “T”. Highly recommended.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of many breeds and sizes for over 7 years. I’m a West Chester local and currently working a remote job, which gives me a very flexible schedule. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me for walking, feeding, and house sitting. I’m attentive, reliable, and treat every pet like my own (as I have 2 dogs) making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I work a remote job, which gives me a very flexible daily schedule. I’m available for daytime house sitting, and extended stays. Because I work remotely, I can be present throughout the day to keep pets on their normal routine and give them plenty of attention, playtime, and care. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your home and pets. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding, medications, and exercise routines. I prioritize safety and I love to provide updates and photos for peace of mind.

“Eric has taken care of my two dogs several times now and he has done an AMAZING job. One of my dogs is basically 100lbs of love and the other is 40lbs of energy. He handles both very well. He updates us every visit with pictures and they look pretty darn happy! Eric also has been incredible at taking my last minute appointments which makes him my dog whispering lifesaver.”

About: I have lots of experience with dogs, grew up around Saint Bernards, and both my parents to this day still have 2+ dogs. Loved them my whole life. My current work schedule has died down so for the most part im open! Once school starts, and my other job opens up a bit it will be more limited. I’m going to prioritize the dogs care and the clients home as if they were my own. I love dogs and will be very respectful!

“Emma was great with Nemo and Aria! I’m always a little nervous leaving them, but she made it easy and stress free. She kept me posted the whole time and took excellent care of them both. I want to also call out how she was very accommodating with the short notice.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ackworth
Julia took amazing care of my cat while I was away. She provided detailed updates about his care and sent the best and silliest pictures of him. Not only did she take care of his daily needs but she really went above and beyond and spent time and connected with him. This trip was the longest I’ve ever left him for and I felt completely at ease knowing Julia was caring for him. I would definitely hire her again!

I was surprised with the level of experience that Juliana had with dogs when we did our meet and greet. She was very engaging and clearly had a great connection with our pets. Will definitely plan to keep working with her in the future. I would strongly recommend
Brady is amazing. His communication is exceptional and he goes above and beyond what his duties require. We are impressed by his maturity and willingness to excel as a pet sitter. He took wonderful care of our cats and our home while we were away. We will 100% be contacting him for future sits and recommend his services to everyone who needs them. If we could give more than 5 stars we would!!

Emily has been so great with our two young puppies! She is super communicative and takes great care in making sure the puppies are fed, watered, and happily tired! I especially appreciate how flexible she has been in terms of scheduling and pays close attention to the directions we leave for her. Would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
