“Lissette provided both dogsitting and housesitting services for us. She was very caring and affectionate with our two small dogs. One of our dogs, from a rescue, is very suspicious of newcomers, but she became comfortable with Lissette quickly. While we were away, Lissette provided frequent updates, including many photos and videos. We would not hesitate to ask Lissette to take care of house and of our pups again -- the pups would probably be very happy to see her, their new friend.”

About: I have taken care of multiple animals throughout my life, mainly elder neighbors who cannot fully take care of their animals because of scheduling conflicts. I prefer overnight visits and stays just to ensure no schedules are disrupted. I currently attend UVA full-time as a Master's Student, and work Saturday nights at a restaurant in Cville. But I always make time for the animals in my life! I have a fenced-in yard, I walk dogs either for short 15/20 minutes, or a longer (5 miles) depending on a breed's needs and requirements. Otherwise, we can lounge and play with toys together.

About: I have always had dogs in my life. My parents chose our first dog, a blue healer, after their honeymoon. I was three. Skeeter and I would tromp through the woods often. We moved to the Middle East when I was 9, and we had to give her to another family, but when we returned, we were contacted by the family: they were moving and wondered if we would like her back. It was a very happy reunion. She passed away when I was 18. In my third year of college, I decided to get a dog of my own. It was a dumb idea because I didn't have the forethought to think about how being a dogowner would limit my housing options over the next 10 years. Baloo was a German shepherd mix. He was a rescue from a Native American reservation in AZ, what we call a "res dog". He and I had several adventures over the decade I could call him mine. He passed away a little over two years ago, and I still miss him now. These days, I am mom to Benedict and Tigerlily. Benny is a sweet old rescue from California. He is likely part pitbull, and part sharpei. He's a sweetheart, super chill with my kids, and loves to walk the trails behind my house. Tigerlily Is a baby baby. The two of them are inseparable. I work from home and have my kids 3-5 nights / week. We love all the dogs and love to take them on walks through the woods and to the park. I provide a chill space where dogs feel like they can relax and trust that someone will come along soon to scritch their ears. I have a great neighborhood for walking and a large unfenced backyard.

About: I grew up in a house full of dogs in Nigeria, more than 20 over the years, and helped raise and train them from the day they were born. I taught basic commands, cared for newborn puppies, and handled everything from playful escape artists to protective mamas. Dogs have been part of my daily life for as long as I can remember. Now I’m a fourth-year at UVA, and since my apartment doesn’t allow pets, Rover lets me keep dogs in my life while giving owners reliable, attentive care. I treat every dog like one of my own because for most of my life, they were. I’m a fourth-year student at UVA with a flexible schedule. I’m available most early evenings, and weekends, and I keep my calendar updated weekly. If there’s a time you need but it’s blocked out, feel free to request anyway; I’m often able to accommodate. I live near Grounds, so I can easily do midday drop-ins and walks. Your home, your rules! I follow your existing routines and safety instructions exactly, keep doors and gates secured, always leash up for walks, and send photo updates every visit so you have total peace of mind

About: I’ve always had several dogs in my household since I was a little girl that were all types of breeds and ages. Pets are definitely family to me. I have one dog and 2 cats. Peaches, Pepper, and Pumpernickel. I've also been a pet sitter to a few neighbors for 2 years. In summers I’ve also volunteered at SPCA as a dog walker. I'm excited to give love to as many furry friends as I can!
