“Michelle cared for our two dogs at our home for the last 5 days/nights. We came home to happy dogs and a well cared for home. During our initial meet and greet, we immediately felt that we can trust Michelle with our dogs and our home and we were right. Michelle is a gem!!”

“Samantha took care of 3 of our dogs in our home while we were out of town and she was great with all of them!!! They were well cared for and happy when we got back. She also left the house as clean as when she arrived. She is reliable and attentive. Our Pug wears pampers and sometimes they fall off but she cleaned up after him as if he was her own. We highly recommend Samantha !”
“Madelyn was great when she watched our dog Cooper when we were on our week long road trip. She was very communicative and we could tell she took great care of Cooper. We definitely will book her again.”

“Finally! We have found the perfect cat and house sitter. Terri did an amazing job taking care of both while we were gone for 2 weeks. Our house was just as clean as I left it (I am a little OCD when it comes to that) and our little ball of fur was happy. Terri sent pictures daily and updated us each day with how Callie was doing. You could tell from the pictures our kitty was relaxed and comfortable with Terri. I would highly recommend Terri to anyone looking for someone to care for their furry family member and home. She is amazing!!”

“We were extremely pleased with the diligent care Monica provided for our 4-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd. She did an excellent job not only watching Jaco, but also taking great care of our home while we were away. It gave us real peace of mind knowing everything was in such good hands. We would absolutely use Monica again and highly recommend her to others.”

“Heidi was truly amazing… She really took great care of my little guy while he was in recovery after an unexpected surgery. She kept me in the loop on everything that was happening and really helped keep my mind at ease when I was unable to be there. Very grateful to have found her, and will definitely use again in the future.”

“Anna was wonderful. She was a great communicator and sent me a daily picture and update of how my dog was doing or what they did that day. I felt very comfortable with Anna watching my dog and would definitely use her again.”

“We had Kelly stay on Christmas Eve, she was amazing! Asher and Reese enjoyed her staying with them, they even snuggled with her and slept with her. Reese liked her pillow so Kelly was so kind to share! I loved that she sent me pictures of them too! I definitely recommend Kelly!”

“Madolyn did an amazing job with our fur babies! You can see how much she loves animals with the way she interacts and cares for them. I hired Madolyn to house sit and watch our dogs. She gave regular updates on the girls, and took such good care of our home. This turned out to be a fantastic outcome, and I recommend Madolyn to anyone looking for a caring, respectful, and trustworthy sitter. We will definitely have Madolyn back!!!!”

“Alex recently stayed in my condo and watched my french bulldog, Hazel. I cannot say enough great things about Alex! She took Hazel out on numerous adventures and always sent photo updates. Alex would be sure and text if she had any questions as well. She was absolutely wonderful and I know Hazel misses her already. I will definitely book with Alex again.”

“Tami is great. Our dogs are kind of weirdos, but she figured out their unique personalities quickly and sent lots of photos and updates. We will definitely hire her again!”

“She was exceptional with my baby, Molly. Molly is normally extremely slow to warm up to people but she immediately took to Genevieve. She kept me updated with pictures and texts, followed my instructions, and most of all kept my girl safe from a murderous wasp and loneliness while I rudely went on vacation without her. There’s nothing better than a cat sitter who loves your girl as much as you do.”

“Jade was a phenomenal dog sitter for us! She sent pictures throughout, and left the house even better than we did. She was also very detail oriented—put the key back, brought mail in, and left a sweet note. Our dogs loved her just as much as she loved them, and we will definitely be booking her again!”

“We are very happy to have had Kya stay with our little senior pug Mattie for the weekend. Communication was excellent & we appreciated the photos and reassurances that everything was going well. Will definitely contact Kya again when needed.”

“Alexy watched my puppy and cat for a few days and gave him constant attention and activity while keeping me updated with frequent pictures. My puppy is very energetic and still going through training and Alexy was accomdating and understanding. Returned home to the house in great shape. I would definitely have Alexy watch my pets again.”

About: Frequent walker that would be happy to have a dog join. I also have a backyard that I maintain all of the time for use. I do not have a dog of my own and typically only watch one dog (or two if you have two) at a time leaving your dogs needs at the priority! I work remote so will always be able to be responsive when sitting. Also have a 700+ day 10,000 step streak so doing lots of walking currently! Handle and escalate and concerns to owner when appropriate and I feel any sorts of hesitations. Thoughtfully, decisively, and neutrally investigate Trust & Safety cases with high complexity and high sensitivity while maintaining customer satisfaction! As a reminder I do not have a fenced in yard so all outside time will be through walks!
“Abigail was absolutely amazing with my pets. She was super fast responding to my inquiry, and agreed to help us out even though it was very short notice. She was prompt and friendly at our meet and greet. She sent me thorough updates and photos every time she was at the house with my babies. She brought in packages and even took the trash out. The house was left clean and tidy and my babies were happy and healthy. Abigail dispensed medication to our senior dog and protected her from our rambunctious puppy. She even helped with our bunny and gave water to the reptiles. It was a bit scary having to find a new sitter last minute (our old one is no longer pet-sitting) so we could travel for a funeral, but it was such a relief to find Abigail and know my pets were in great hands. I didn’t worry about them at all. She totally put my mind at ease with her caring and thoughtful messages to let me know how things were going and she put a smile on my face with the cute photos she sent. I simply could not recommend her enough. I will definitely be using her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Yorkville
Booked Madolyn for a 3 night stay. The house was in great condition, dogs seem fine when we got back. Overall I would have liked better communication. Received one picture the first night, one the next morning but no other updates for the stay. She let me know she would be later than booked start time, but was ultimately even later than that. She also planned to leave 5 hours earlier than the booked end time, and I'm not sure she would have said anything if I had not brought it up. This left me scrambling to book another rover the morning of to drop in to avoid 10+ hours my dogs would have gone without a potty break.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Yorkville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Yorkville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Yorkville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
