About: Hi! My name is Jennifer, and I’m a healthcare professional with a lifelong passion for animals. I’m a proud owner of four cats—Fireball, Pumpkin, Midnight, and Roo—as well as three goats, with another little one on the way! 🐱🐐 I have hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals, including household pets, farm animals, and exotic animals. I’m dependable, compassionate, and committed to providing every animal with the same love, attention, and care I give my own. I have plenty of references available upon request, so please feel free to ask! I’d love the opportunity to care for your furry, feathered, or farm family members. ❤️ I create my own work schedule, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability throughout the week and on weekends. I’m happy to provide dog walking, dog sitting, and cat sitting services to help care for your pets when you’re unavailable. If you’re looking for someone dependable, caring, and experienced to look after your pets, please feel free to reach out! I’d love to help. I provide personalized, attentive care based on each pet’s individual needs, routine, and personality. Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I make sure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, affection, fresh food and water, and a safe, comfortable environment. When caring for pets in their own home, I do my best to maintain their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. I’m happy to follow specific feeding schedules, medication instructions, walking routines, and any other care instructions provided. My goal is to treat every pet as if they were my own and give owners peace of mind knowing their pets are safe, loved, and well cared for while they’re away.

SHavonna is one of a kind! Her demeanor and reaction to my Lulu's growling at her the first time she met her was perfect. She and her 7-year-old son were the perfect house guests. My home was clean and ordered and Lulu greeted me happily and in fact did not want to leave shavonna! That right there is the best recommendation anyone can give!

I had an amazing experience with Jerusha and her boyfriend Ethan as my pet sitters. They did a fantastic job caring for my two dogs, Henry and Georgie, as well as my cats. Henry, who is usually fearful and anxious around men, surprisingly warmed up to Ethan and loved spending time with him. Georgie, my social butterfly, had a blast playing at the park. Even my antisocial cat Logan, who typically avoids people, felt comfortable enough to sleep on Jerusha's lap. They walked my dogs regularly, provided plenty of playtime, and ensured all my pets were well-loved and cared for. They sent so many lovely pictures too!! I highly recommend Jerusha and Ethan to anyone looking for attentive and compassionate pet sitters!

Logan is thoughtful, professional and just a delight to work with! I have extensive instructions for my babies and she followed them all well. My older dog doesn't trust new people quickly. Logan continued to try to engage and build that trust throughout her stay. She sent wonderful updates and communicated regularly. She tidied up after herself and was a great house guest. Highly recommend!

Dai Yah, was prompt with her response when we urgently needed a last minute same-day booking request in order to go out to an activity and then dinner with family. Were extremely mindful and careful when looking over sitters profiles and this is the 4th time we have booked a house sitting request via Rover app and it was a pleasure to work with DaI Yah. If you’re interested in booking a sitter that has such a pleasant vibe like super chill and easy to follow care instructions for my little 5lb Shih-Poo then schedule with DaI Yah, we will be booking again many more times for DaI Yah, I already mentioned to her that were interested in a repeat sitter so Blaze has a pleasant experience each time we need house sitting care. Dai Yah, and I spoke with each other college and family and goals so it was a great having the brief conversation to try to build that sitter-pet parent connection.

I am so excited to help you take care of your sweet pup :) I am currently job searching and eventually hope to find an opportunity that has a steady and reliable schedule. Right now I have completely open availability! I would love to come to your home for any pet services (walking/sitting/check-ins). I also have two pups that love other dogs and would be great play partners if needed!

About: My name is Conner and I’m a college student at Winthrop University and a lifelong animal lover! caring for animals has always been a big part of my life, whether that meant helping my mom rescue and care for stray cats or looking after family pets over the years. More recently, I’ve been helping take care of my girlfriend’s dog, who has an autoimmune disease and requires extra attention, patience, and consistency with medications and daily routines. I’m a firm believer that every pet deserves personalized care and should be treated with as much love as I would give my own. Whether your pet needs a walk to burn off some energy, a drop-in-visit while you're away, or someone dependable to keep them company in the comfort of their own home, in your guy!! I’m currently a full time college student so I’m free all summer and I would be very flexible around my school schedule in the Fall and Spring! I am very confident in my ability to make friends with every pet! I’m very active and love a nice long walk but I’m also happy to chill on the couch or floor if you have a more laid back pet!

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is how attentive, patient, and dependable I am with every pet I care for. I have experience caring for pets with different personalities and energy levels, and I make sure each one feels safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I’m great at keeping routines consistent, encouraging positive behavior, and giving pets plenty of playtime, attention, and affection. I’m also very observant and quick to notice changes in behavior or mood so pets always receive the best care possible. My goal is to make both pets and owners feel completely comfortable and stress-free! I currently works a job from 9-3. So, if discussed, I can determine if I can fit a morning stop into my schedule but I’m definitely available after 3pm M-F. Sat/Sun 10am till TBD. I care for pets with patience, consistency, and lots of attention so they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I previously had a dog who sadly passed away after 13 years, which gave me a lot of experience and love for caring for animals through every stage of life. I currently have a poodle and a doodle who have had puppies together, and I also have two of their puppies, so I’m very familiar with caring for multiple dogs with different personalities and energy levels.

Kristen made me feel super at easy for Sauce's first sitter experience! She was on time, comfortable with Sauce, followed his typical routine, and knowledgable. She sent photos and videos, let me know what the two of them were up to, and gave updates on potty breaks and when she was leaving. Definitely reaching back out to her for future pup sitting! Thank you :)

About: Hi! I’m a huge animal lover and have been around dogs for as long as I can remember. I currently have three dogs and one cat, so caring for pets is part of my everyday life. I’ve learned a lot about dog body language and understanding each dog’s unique personality, and I’m always learning more about cats too. I treat every pet like they’re my own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping them company, my goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your fur baby is in caring hands while you’re away. I’m currently a cosmetology student and work part-time. Since I haven’t started school yet, I have plenty of free time to dedicate to pet care. Even once classes begin, I’ll continue to keep my schedule updated and only accept bookings that I can fully commit to. I always make sure every pet gets the time, attention, exercise, and love they deserve while they’re in my care. When caring for pets in your home, I always make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and respected. I like to approach every dog with a calm, positive energy and take the time to let them get to know me before we head out for a walk. I pay close attention to their body language, personality, and energy level so I can adjust to what they need. Whether your dog loves a long walk, a slower pace, or just extra encouragement, I’ll make sure they have a safe, enjoyable experience. I’ll also follow your pet’s routine and care instructions so they feel as comfortable as possible while you’re away.

FAQs for House Sitting - York

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in York on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,105 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across York. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred York walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in York maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in York. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
