Mara was wonderful with our Goldendoodle. She was very kind and energetic and matched our dogs enthusiasm for play. We could tell right away her love and care for our pet was just like her own.

About: I provide dependable pet care for dogs and cats of all sizes. I have 17+ years of pet sitting experience and bring a calm, confident approach that helps pets feel safe and comfortable right away. Because I work from home, I have a flexible schedule and can offer consistent attention throughout the day—especially helpful for pets who need routine or don’t like being alone for long. I offer extended care/house sitting, drop-in visits, and dog walking, but I do not provide overnight stays. I’m very comfortable with large dogs (I have a 4-year-old 110 lb Great Pyrenees), but I genuinely enjoy caring for pets of all personalities and sizes. I adjust my care to what each pet needs—whether that’s energy, structure, or calm companionship. I also have 8 years of experience as a personal assistant, so I’m reliable, organized, and detail-oriented when it comes to following instructions and communicating clearly. What you can expect from me: 🐾 17+ years of pet sitting experience 🐾 Calm, confident care for all sizes 🐾 Work-from-home flexibility = more consistent attention 🐾 Experienced with large dogs 🐾 Reliable communication + thoughtful updates 🐾 8 years of personal assistant experience—organized, reliable, detail-oriented 🐾 Respectful care for your home and routine Because I work from home, pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to plan my day around walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting needs without rushing or squeezing pets in. I’m already used to being home and present throughout the day, so I can easily give pets consistent attention, regular breaks, and companionship. On a weekly basis, I’m able to reliably accommodate recurring care as well as one-time bookings, and I make sure each visit is fully built into my schedule so pets always get my focused time and care. In a client’s home, I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and secure while their owner is away. I take time to understand each pet’s needs, personality, and schedule ahead of time, and I make sure feedings, walks, playtime, and any medications are done exactly as instructed. I also focus on creating a calm, reassuring presence so pets feel relaxed rather than stressed by the change in routine. My visits are never rushed—I stay present, give them real attention, and make sure they’re getting both care and companionship. I also keep owners updated with clear, thoughtful messages so they always know how their pet is doing.

Kristen made me feel super at easy for Sauce's first sitter experience! She was on time, comfortable with Sauce, followed his typical routine, and knowledgable. She sent photos and videos, let me know what the two of them were up to, and gave updates on potty breaks and when she was leaving. Definitely reaching back out to her for future pup sitting! Thank you :)

India was a godsend. Due to a family situation, our requested dates changed, changed again, then had to be extended. India was very accommodating and communicated quickly on how she could adjust to our requests. During our time away, she sent numerous pictures and kept us up to date on the daily activities with our dogs. Our neighbors commented on how friendly she was and how often they saw her out with the pups. When we returned home she had even taken a few Polaroids of the dogs with a thank you note (she’s quite the artistic photographer in addition to being a wonderful sitter!) We definitely plan to use her again for upcoming trips. We can’t rate India highly enough.

Dai Yah, was prompt with her response when we urgently needed a last minute same-day booking request in order to go out to an activity and then dinner with family. Were extremely mindful and careful when looking over sitters profiles and this is the 4th time we have booked a house sitting request via Rover app and it was a pleasure to work with DaI Yah. If you’re interested in booking a sitter that has such a pleasant vibe like super chill and easy to follow care instructions for my little 5lb Shih-Poo then schedule with DaI Yah, we will be booking again many more times for DaI Yah, I already mentioned to her that were interested in a repeat sitter so Blaze has a pleasant experience each time we need house sitting care. Dai Yah, and I spoke with each other college and family and goals so it was a great having the brief conversation to try to build that sitter-pet parent connection.

Christina was able to help me on very short notice and stayed at my home for an entire week. From the moment she arrived, I felt completely at ease knowing my animals and home were in such capable hands. She was excellent about sending photos and updates throughout my trip, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I returned home, the house was spotless, and all of my animals were happy, healthy, and well cared for. One of the biggest challenges for me is finding someone who is experienced with a variety of animals—not just cats and dogs, but also goats, chickens, guinea fowl, and geese. Christina handled all of them with confidence and care. She is incredibly trustworthy, dependable, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I am beyond happy with her services and cannot recommend her highly enough. If you’re looking for someone who will care for your pets and home as if they were her own, Christina is the one! ❤️🐾🐐🐓🪿

Christopher was a great sitter for our 4 month old lab, Hootie! He sent pictures and updates for us while we were away. When we watched our pet cam to check on our pup after he had left, Hootie was fast asleep- which never happens as he has some separation anxiety. We could tell that he had a great time and that Christopher took the time to have play time along with a structured visit! Thanks again!

About: I am a former teacher who left the profession. I am building my pet sitting business one sweet creature at a time. I have had my own dog that had to be put down at 8 for medical reasons and it was the worst day of my life. I have sat small and large dogs, cats, and have helped a friend with chickens. I am by no means a chicken expert though. I take pride in what I do. I also have my clearances from teaching, until they expire. I an currently a full time sitter, so I book sits ahead of time. I'm also available for check ins and walking at times as well. I want your pets to not miss a step just because you are not there. We'll do their routines and I would absolutely treat your pet and home with the respect as if they were my own.

About: I’ve pet sat for my neighbors and family members for a few years. I used to pet sit for my aunt a lot and I loved it but she moved away, so I can’t pet sit for her anymore. I had so much fun, and I love spending time and caring for every animal. I look forward to meeting your amazing pets, and watching over them for you! I’m currently unemployed and have plenty of free time to check in and care for your pets. Im free the whole 7 days of the week :) I have 5 furry babies myself, 2 big dog fenced in the backyard and 3 kitties in the house, I also have 3 hermit crabs that I take care of. I have plenty of experience with all kinds of pets even a pig :)

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats all my life, recently I have fostered several puppies until they were old enough for adoption. I have experience with dogs of all size and am used to walking dogs that pull on the leash :) I have stayed in others homes over night and have had dogs in my home while their family was away! I am currently working part time and make the schedule for my company so I can typically work around any schedule, however scheduling a sitting a week prior is preferred. If I am working it is typically 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm. I have a large fenced in backyard and a 6 year old dog who is very friendly and has never had any issues with pups who have come to stay with us in the past! My neighborhood has plenty of walking trails that are shaded for days that are hot.

FAQs for House Sitting - Newport

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Newport on Rover is $43.84 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 2,459 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Newport. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newport. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
