“Leslie did a wonderful job checking in on our Golden! I appreciate her thoroughness in setting up a meet and greet beforehand, and she had great communication about her visit. We look forward to booking with her again in the future!”

“Watching my cat clan is basically a full-time job, so I’m impressed! 😂 Alexis handled all of their different personalities, attitudes, and general cat chaos like a pro. I got updates, everyone was happy and well cared for, and my house was still standing when I got back — a win all around! I would absolutely book again and definitely recommend her to anyone.”

About: I have raised my own dog since she was ten weeks old, mentored by my father who has raised three litters of puppies throughout his life. I have also done pet-sitting for friends and family for dogs as small as beagle puppies to as large as a Labrador. I am a Graduate student, but I manage to take six- mile walks every morning year-round. As my classes are in the evening, I can fit dog-walking into my schedule in the mornings and early afternoons. I am attentive and responsible for my pets needs, and take pride in ensuring that the animals I care for are happy and healthy. I have a nine-year-old mixed breed dog who enjoys her daily walks and sunbathing on the deck, but does not enjoy the company of other dogs very much.

About: I used to work for a pet care company called Pet and Home Care. I was a traveling pet care agent for them and I am trained to take care of all kinds of pets. I even took classes through them on what to do if a pet has a medical emergency. I grew up around animals and have a deep love for them and I’m excited to work with your pets :) I’m currently a part time student at FCC and I’m looking for extra work. I have time everyday for visits. I have open availability all day Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday I give fresh water and treats every visit (if treats are allowed). Plenty of pets and attention. I can administer medication and follow special dietary plans. I have a leash belt I use when walking dogs that keeps the dog hooked to me for extra control and ensures they can’t pull the leash out of my hand.
“Hillary was super amazing with our cat. She was very dependable and flexible with us in scheduling and our cat came out for cuddles with every visit which is rare for her. I'm so happy to have found her and will look forward to using her services again in the future.”

About: Your dog’s happiness, safety, and comfort are my top priorities. I’m a dependable, caring dog lover who will treat your pet like family, whether we’re enjoying a fun walk, getting plenty of exercise, or relaxing with extra affection. I’ll make sure your furry friend feels loved, comfortable, and well cared for every step of the way. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I make time to provide attentive, loving care, follow each pet’s regular schedule, and ensure they receive plenty of exercise, attention, and affection. I am an online student who would love scheduled breaks during the day to walk and enjoy the company of a furry friend. I provide attentive, loving care, follow your instructions carefully, maintain their regular routine, and make sure they receive plenty of exercise, attention, and affection. I also treat your home with care and respect, keeping it clean, secure, and just as I found it.
About: I’ve had the pleasure of raising a dog from 9 weeks old to his current 13 years. I’ve been there every step of the way, from puppyhood to adulthood and senior years. Plus, my dog tore his ACL, so I know firsthand the challenges of keeping your pet safe and out of harm’s way, along with the need for special care and instructions. I am currently a senior student athlete in college with a flexible schedule. I wanted to find a part-time job that I would actually enjoy, and I have always loved being near animals. Coming back home to my dog is always the highlight of my trip, so being near dogs and getting to see the joy on their faces has always made me smile. I think pets are happiest when they’re in their own space, so I’d rather work at someone else’s home. Plus, getting to know the dog and the pet owners will really help everyone feel more comfortable.
“Alexis was a great caregiver for my sweet, old cat. On the first day, when Kippy did not appear to get her food and meds, Alexis searched and found her hiding place, thus ensuring Kippy got what she needed that morning. Alexis’s kind and gentle demeanor soon made Kippy lose her fear and she began greeting Alexis at the door. I would definitely hope Alexis was available the next time I need Killy care.”

About: Hello! I am a 19-year-old girl looking to take care of your animals. Here is a bit of information about me: My personality is active communication, open-minded, and flexible. I like working with animals since my childhood with pet animals. I've taken care of fish, turtles, cats, and mainly dogs. In my spare time, I do online University with General Studies for the moment on Fridays and Saturdays. However, animal care is something I want to pursue with passion and love. I recently moved in the area, so I'm excited to work and spend time with family. I want to know specifics. If you answer any of my questions, I would appreciate it soo much. No intention to mess up, especially being new to everything. The goal is being helpful as possible for you and to do the very best that I can. I am in the Spring Ridge area. I can provide good feeding, walks, cleaning up dirt or messes, and proper potty time. Thank you for considering me! I am open minded to all animals except cats, I am sadly, allergic to the fur. I recently adopted a dog in my family and she is prioritized before any messes in the house. I want to express that full heartedly with your animals too. I can take them on a walk. I am mainly looking at dogs so I’m referring to them when I say taking on a walk or going potty. I can feed and give proper medication proportions. I can provide overnight care if you are on vacation or need someone present with your animals. If you need someone over during the day, then I can be the girl for you!
About: I’ve always been a huge animal lover and grew up with dogs, so being around them has always been a big part of my life. I’ve dog sat and house sat for friends and family for years, and I’ve also helped friends who foster dogs take care of their puppies. I currently have two dogs of my own that we rescued from Saint Martin in 2023, and I absolutely adore them. They’re a huge part of my life, and I’m so thankful we were able to give them a loving home. I know every dog has their own personality and routine, and I’m happy to adjust to whatever makes yours happiest and most comfortable. Whether that means walks, playing outside, lots of attention and belly rubs, or just hanging out on the couch, I’m there for it! I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and make sure they feel safe, loved, and cared for while you’re away. I’m currently in between careers, which gives me a pretty flexible schedule and plenty of availability throughout the week. I do have a few other small jobs and am occasionally away on weekends, but my schedule varies and I’m generally pretty open. I’m happy to work with you to find days and times that fit your needs, and I’ll always be upfront about my availability! I will do everything needed to ensure your pets get the care that they deserve and make sure they are as safe, happy and loved as possible!
About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats my whole life and worked as a professional pet sitter for over 3 years. I can’t wait to meet your sweet animals! At the moment, I am currently only available on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) but can be available some evenings as well upon request (6pm-9pm). My dog is leashed or on a lead while outdoors as my property is not currently fenced. She requires lots of exercise so we live a very active lifestyle.
About: I have loved and vare for dogs since I was a child! Now, I have built a reliable reputation throughout Frederick and the surrounding DC area by taking care of countless dogs. Golden-doodles, Basset hounds, Newfoundlands, mixed breeds, you name it! My experience and care shows through my happy clients (and their owners)! I have experience with dogs who need specialized care, medications, and have behavioral concerns. Since I usually dogsit off of Rover, I have included a few photos of my frequent clients! I am a full-time graduate student in Washington, D.C., so my availability will depend on my commute. My schedule will fit best with a dog who is okay being alone for a few hours while I attend class in the afternoons. I can easily re-crate dogs if need be. I always write a note or text message explaining what times your dog went out, played, etc. I have worked with very anxious dogs who need time to warm up to new people. With those cases, I know how to take my time and assess the dog's behavior to understand how to make them the most comfortable.
About: I've raised 2 daughters to adulthood and 7 cats over the years. I've dog sat for neighbors and answered local ads for sitting/walks. I have experience giving cats medicine and cleaning up messes.I love animals! I'm currently a stay home Mom looking for a flexible income while getting excerise and being my own boss. I use to own a business so I'm organized, responsible and dependable. I currently have 2 cats who I feed daily, one gets medicine mixed into her dinner wet food and she's on a diet. My other cat is free fed dry food all day because she has a fast metabolism and is a perfect weight, plus she gets wet food for dinner. Their litter boxes get cleaned every other day. So, I'm use to special feeding needs of fur babies.

“John-Michael was great! We were a last minute booking and he communicated with me right away. He spent time with our old tabby cat and took great care of her! Will definitely book again!”
“I only needed Kaila for two days before my permanent dog walker starts, but she has been absolutely amazing! She’s able to handle my high energy bigger dogs very well and they seemed to warm up to her very quickly. She sent tons of pictures and did great at keeping me updated. Would absolutely use her services again in the future.”

“My father’s health declined rapidly without notice and in a state of panic I asked Ms. Maureen to help care for our fur babies while we left town in a hurry. She immediately agreed and once again went above and beyond to make sure our two boys were well loved and cared for while we were away. I could never repay you for this one, Ms. Maureen. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Watching my cat clan is basically a full-time job, so I’m impressed! 😂 Alexis handled all of their different personalities, attitudes, and general cat chaos like a pro. I got updates, everyone was happy and well cared for, and my house was still standing when I got back — a win all around! I would absolutely book again and definitely recommend her to anyone.

Misty once again exceeded our expectations. 💕Unfortunately the week before we had to leave for an out of town wedding, Ellie had come down with double ear infections that required her to get ear drops twice a day. Misty assured us that she would have it under control and we trusted her based on all of experience with her. She kept us up to date on how both girls were doing while we were away. And Ellie looks and is acting like her self before her ear infections. We highly recommend Misty to everyone we know. She is the best in the business!😺🏆

We recently booked Mikayla to care for our two cats while we were away, and she did a fantastic job. One of our cats is very social and easygoing, while the other is much more anxious and cautious with new people, so I’m always nervous leaving them with someone new. Mikayla handled both of them so thoughtfully and professionally. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly paid attention to the details of their care. We came home to two happy and well cared for cats, which is honestly the best feeling after traveling. I also really appreciated the updates and photos while we were away. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring cat sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
