“Elizabeth sat for our senior Yorkshire terrier for 3 nights and everything was great when we got back. Our dog who has special diet needs was healthy and happy as could be when we returned. Thank you!”

“Stephanie was great! She was a huge help when another sitter cancelled last minute. She took great care of our dog and home and communicated well through the experience. We would definitely re-book with her if ever needed! Thank you, Stephanie!”

“Avery took wonderful care of our dog for a full week while we were on vacation. This was our first time using Rover, and he truly exceeded all of our expectations. He was incredibly communicative, providing updates that helped put our minds at ease while we were away. It made such a difference knowing our dog was in great hands. We’re so grateful for the care he provided and would absolutely recommend Avery to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.”

“Rebecca did a great job for us. Our 7 year old dog had never had a dog sitter before and Rebecca was great with him. She shared pictures of our dog and he was happy in every picture. Very reliable and responsive to all communication. We will definitely call on her again.”

“Candi is the best dog sitter we have ever had, and that is truly the highest compliment! We have adopted many dogs over the years, many of whom were seniors with health issues. For that reason, it can be difficult to find a dog sitter who can give them the level of care they need. When we returned from our recent trip out of town, our normally anxious Chloe was completely calm and happy. Working with Candi feels like you're leaving your furbaby with your closest family. She is incredibly compassionate, caring, and a consummate professional. If you have pet care needs, do yourself a favor and book her today!”

“Our dog, Kailani, loved Amanda (took to her instantly), and we really appreciated Amanda sending us regular updates and keeping our home in the same condition that we left it. We’ll definitely be using her again!”

“10 out of 10 ! Craig and Chelsea were amazing! Extremely professional, knowledgeable and very intuitive when it came to caring for my boy! I was very impressed with the initial on boarding and the time Craig took to understand our pet’s needs, and behaviors to ensure it was a seamless experience while we were away . He had a terrific manner in meeting our pet for the first time and one could tell immediately that this was someone that truly cared for our pet’s wellbeing. It was the first time we left our pet alone to travel since rescuing him and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable that he was in good care than if left him with a family member!! We received regular updates and came home to a spotless home . Craig went above and beyond and it was overall a terrific experience!!! Thank you, thank you , thank you !!”

“Hannah is in a class all by herself. Nurturing, reliable, accommodating are all words that I’d use to describe Hannah. I was in a bind to find someone that meshed well with my dog Maisie and cat Zooey-and Hannah came through with flying colors! Her communication was stellar, attention to detail applaudable and kind spirit soothed both my anxious dog and me while I was away. I recommend Hannah without hesitation.”

“Kayla did a full week overnight stay with our 2 dogs and cat. She was very respectful of our house and flexible with our multiple requests during the week. Our dogs are both 9 years old and this is the first time they have ever been left with a sitter. Kayla made us feel very comfortable they would be her priority and well taken care of. I highly recommend Kayla and will be requesting her again!”

About: I've taken care of animals since I was young, often a family friend and now often my own friends! I am open to all animals, any age, any kind. I know how stressed animals can get when their people are away, and I believe in providing a temporary replacement that is as near to their normal as possible. I'm not currently working, so I am mostly free throughout each week! I am able to come and go at any time in the day as well! Safety and trust are my top priority with every pet I care for. For house sitting, I stay in your home to keep your pet’s routine as normal as possible like sticking closely to their usual feeding, medication, and bathroom schedule, keeping doors and gates secure, and making sure the home stays safe and undisturbed while you’re away. Pets tend to feel calmer staying in their own space, and I’m there to give them company and attention throughout. For drop-in visits, I do a quick walkthrough on arrival to make sure everything is as it should be, follow your instructions exactly for feeding, litter box or bathroom needs, and always double check doors and gates are secure before I leave. For walks, dogs stay leashed at all times unless you’ve told me otherwise and I’ve confirmed the area is safe, and I stay alert to traffic, other animals, and weather conditions. For cats, I’m mindful of their comfort level and never force interaction or handling they’re not used to. Across all services, I send photo and text updates so you always know how your pet is doing, and I keep emergency contacts (you and your vet) on hand just in case!
“We recently had the pleasure of having Katherine watch our two Labrador Retrievers—one a gentle giant at 12 ½ years old and 100 pounds, and the other a lively 7-year old at 65 pounds—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care she provided. Katherine followed our instructions to a tee, making sure both dogs got all the exercise they needed, despite their different energy levels. She also took outstanding care of our home. Her genuine love for animals shone through in the way she handled our dogs. We came home to two very happy and well cared for Labs. We would highly, highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and responsible pet sitter. She truly exceeded our expectations and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away.”

“We’re starting to think our dogs might like Jonas more than us 🤣. As always, our minds were at ease thanks to Jonas’ great care of our pups and frequent updates. We’re so lucky to have found you.”

“Christi was a terrific house/pet sitter for us. She sent daily updates of activities and pictures of our cat, Lucy, and young golden retriever, Pepper. Pepper is a bit of a handful and Christi spent a lot of time with her on walks, car rides and clicker training. We really appreciated her efforts. The daily communications reassured us that our pets were in good hands. It was nice to see how Lucy snuggled right up to her. We were greeted by happy pets on our return and a tidy house. We highly recommend Christi for a pet sitter.”

“Hannah has been absolutely amazing, truly an angel. She took care of our dog for two weeks and showed incredible commitment and care throughout. Our dog can be challenging, especially due to his anxiety around paw cleaning and eye care, but Hannah handled all of his needs with patience and skill and treated him as if he were her own. She sent daily updates without fail, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. On top of that, she took excellent care of our home and we came back to a house that was even better than we left it. Hannah is exceptional and we would absolutely trust her again. We cannot wait to have her pet sit for us in the future. 🙌🏻”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wiscasset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wiscasset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wiscasset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wiscasset. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
