From the moment I met Rebecca, I knew she was the right person to watch my pup. Her warm spirit and dog loving heart was exactly what I was hoping to find a person to watch my service dog. She was attentive, sent pictures, and assured me the visit was going well at my house. I would highly recommend Rebecca to anyone needing a someone to love and care for their dog.

Candi cared for our dogs in our home for seven days, and we were very pleased with the care she provided. She followed their routines closely and adhered to their feeding schedules, medications, and complex care needs. She was professional, punctual, and dependable, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our trip knowing our dogs were in good hands. One of our dogs is a paralyzed French Bulldog who requires specialized care, including regular bladder expressions and assistance with getting in and out of her wheelchair on a strict schedule. Candi handled these responsibilities with care and consistency, giving us confidence that our dog’s unique needs were being met. It was clear our dogs were loved and well cared for while we were away, and we returned to an immaculate home. The only feedback we would offer is that we would have appreciated more frequent daily updates and photos throughout our trip. Overall, we would absolutely hire Candi again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate, and reliable pet sitter.

Hannah has been absolutely amazing, truly an angel. She took care of our dog for two weeks and showed incredible commitment and care throughout. Our dog can be challenging, especially due to his anxiety around paw cleaning and eye care, but Hannah handled all of his needs with patience and skill and treated him as if he were her own. She sent daily updates without fail, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. On top of that, she took excellent care of our home and we came back to a house that was even better than we left it. Hannah is exceptional and we would absolutely trust her again. We cannot wait to have her pet sit for us in the future. 🙌🏻

Kayla did a full week overnight stay with our 2 dogs and cat. She was very respectful of our house and flexible with our multiple requests during the week. Our dogs are both 9 years old and this is the first time they have ever been left with a sitter. Kayla made us feel very comfortable they would be her priority and well taken care of. I highly recommend Kayla and will be requesting her again!

We recently had the pleasure of having Katherine watch our two Labrador Retrievers—one a gentle giant at 12 ½ years old and 100 pounds, and the other a lively 7-year old at 65 pounds—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care she provided. Katherine followed our instructions to a tee, making sure both dogs got all the exercise they needed, despite their different energy levels. She also took outstanding care of our home. Her genuine love for animals shone through in the way she handled our dogs. We came home to two very happy and well cared for Labs. We would highly, highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and responsible pet sitter. She truly exceeded our expectations and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away.

Christi was a terrific house/pet sitter for us. She sent daily updates of activities and pictures of our cat, Lucy, and young golden retriever, Pepper. Pepper is a bit of a handful and Christi spent a lot of time with her on walks, car rides and clicker training. We really appreciated her efforts. The daily communications reassured us that our pets were in good hands. It was nice to see how Lucy snuggled right up to her. We were greeted by happy pets on our return and a tidy house. We highly recommend Christi for a pet sitter.

About: Hi there! 🐾 I know how much your pets mean to you, because I feel the same way. When I’m with your furry family, they get all the love, snuggles, and attention I’d give my own. Whether it’s walks, playtime, belly rubs, or just keeping them company, I make sure they feel happy, safe, and cared for. I’ll also send you plenty of updates and cute photos so you never miss a moment. With me, your pets aren’t just looked after—they’re loved like family. Pets are already part of my daily routine thanks to my roommates and family—I’m always surrounded by furry friends. Whether it’s feeding, playing, or just hanging out, I naturally build pet care into my day. Spending time with animals is something I truly enjoy, and it keeps me active, patient, and mindful. Caring for pets outside my home feels like a natural extension of what I already do every day. 🐾❤️ I know how important trust is when it comes to caring for your pet and your home. I take time to get to know each pet at their own pace, follow their usual routine, and keep everything tidy and comfortable. I’ll always respect your house rules, send you daily updates, and treat your pets like family. With me, you can feel confident that both your home and your furry loved ones are in safe, caring hands🐕🐕‍🦺🐩🐈‍⬛🐈

About: I'm an experienced doggy foster, boarding more than 10 new-to-Maine rescues last year before adopting a sweet little pup of my own. As a new dog parent, I know how difficult it can be to find reliable, affordable, overnight care - plus a place my pup will actually enjoy! I routinely pet-sit for friends, and joined Rover to continue expanding my dog's social circle (she *loves* other dogs) while earning supplementary income. My pup, Marcy, is a 1-year old blackmouth cur. She's a regular at the dog park and very well socialized across a range of doggy personalities. I have a safe, calm house with a fenced-in yard. I also work remotely, meaning your dog would have lots of attention and a watchful eye. Although I'm primarily listing my offering as dog boarding at my home, Marcy and I are flexibile so long as there is reliable internet. So please reach out if you prefer boarding at your home instead. Note that Marcy is gentle not prey driven, though she's only been introduced to one cat. If you have kitties, let's do a meet-n-greet to ensure it's a good fit. Reach out with any questions! I work at home, with flexibility around meetings for walks, dog park trips, and potty/training breaks. I’m available to pet sit any day of the week. At my home: I have a 4 ft fenced-in yard for play time, which turns into an at-home dog park when Marcy has a visitor. Note that the fence isn't foolproof for an escape artist or high jumper. Dogs are allowed throughout the house and on couches, if they choose. Sleeping arrangements are flexible, especially knowing visiting pups can sometimes feel more comfortable sleeping in bed with a human. Marcy is crate-trained, and I have a large crate in case your pup needs a designated safe space.

About: Every animal has a story. Mine began long before I ever thought of pet care as a service — it began with connection. From the shy pup curled in the corner to the elderly dog whose slow steps spoke of trust earned, I’ve learned that every animal communicates in its own language of wagging tails, soft purrs, and trusting eyes. Over decades, I’ve walked alongside puppies discovering grass for the first time and supported senior dogs whose gentle steps reflect a lifetime of loyalty. With every house sit, I’m not just caring for pets — I’m honoring the bond you share with them, giving reassurance through consistent routines, heartfelt playtimes, and quiet moments of comfort. What sets me apart is not only my experience but my ability to read body language, anticipate needs, and bring peace of mind to both pets and their humans. Pets are the rhythm of my day — they shape my mornings with excitement and my evenings with calm connection. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to be present for walks when the air is crisp, for quiet cuddle time when hearts need soothing, and for check-ins that give owners peace of mind. I simply ask for a day’s notice so I can plan the best moments with your beloved companion. Your pet’s safety is my promise. In my one-story home filled with warmth and gentle energy, two rescue cats have taught me the art of patience, play, and respect for personal space. Our quiet neighborhood offers leash-friendly strolls and ample paths to explore at a comfortable pace. I ensure a calm, structured, and loving environment that supports routine, comfort, and trust.

FAQs for House Sitting - Edgecomb

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 206 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Edgecomb. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Edgecomb walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Edgecomb maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Edgecomb choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Edgecomb. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
