“Stephanie did a great job with Luca, and they bonded after a day or two. She sent me pictures of him while I was gone, and even washed all the linens she used. Will definitely be using her again!”

“Candi was great to work with. This was my first time being apart from Zoey since I adopted her a year ago. Candi took time to get to know Zoey and bond with her enough that I felt comfortable leaving Zoey in her care. It was a great weight off my mind to know that Zoey would be well taken care of and comfortable while I was away. I can definitely recommend Candi and hope to turn to her again, many times in the future!”

“Alicia did an awesome job pet sitting Drax while we were on a trip. She was communicative, sent lots of pictures, took could care of Drax and they had a great time together. Drax looked like he got good exercise and had fun.”

About: I’m more than just a sitter — I’m someone who’s dedicated my life to understanding and caring for animals. I’ve grown up with dogs, and my passion for their well-being has only deepened over the years. I’ve worked hands-on in both doggy daycares and animal care facilities, where I gained experience caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments — as well as other animals. I’ve also personally trained my own dog to become a service dog, which has given me deep insight into canine behavior, patience, and positive reinforcement techniques. I’m currently pursuing certification as a professional dog trainer and working toward a bachelor’s degree in Animal Behavior — so I bring both real-world experience and science-backed knowledge to every walk and visit. Whether it’s puppies needing structure, seniors needing gentle care, or high-energy dogs that need a good workout, I tailor my approach to each dog’s unique needs. Above all, I treat every animal as if they were my own — with love, respect, and consistency. Right now, I have open availability and plenty of time to dedicate to your pet’s care. I'm currently in between jobs, so I’m flexible and able to accommodate last-minute bookings, daily walks, and extended stays. Even when I’m busy, I always make time for my own dog — caring for animals is just a natural part of my routine. Once I’m working part-time, pet care will still be a priority in my schedule. Whether it’s walks, check-ins, or overnight stays, I’ll continue to provide consistent, loving care with reliability you can count on. In My Home: I offer a safe, spacious, and fun environment for your pup! I have a large home with a secure, designated dog run for added safety. Your dog will also have a built-in playmate — my own well-trained and friendly dog, who’s great at matching energy levels and knows when to give other dogs space. It’s a great setup for high-energy dogs who love to play, but also calm enough for dogs who just want to relax. In Your Home: When caring for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine consistent and stress-free. I’ll follow all feeding, walking, and care instructions exactly as you leave them, and I always treat your space with respect. Whether it’s cuddles, playtime, or quiet companionship, I adjust to your pet’s needs to help them feel comfortable and cared for.
“Hannah is in a class all by herself. Nurturing, reliable, accommodating are all words that I’d use to describe Hannah. I was in a bind to find someone that meshed well with my dog Maisie and cat Zooey-and Hannah came through with flying colors! Her communication was stellar, attention to detail applaudable and kind spirit soothed both my anxious dog and me while I was away. I recommend Hannah without hesitation.”

About: We each have over 8 years of experience caring for dogs and cats for family and friends. We truly love animals and enjoy giving them dependable, loving care while your away! We both have flexible schedules, so pet care fits easily into our daily routine. We’re home most of the day, which allows us to give pets regular walks, playtime, and attention. We’re able to follow each pet’s normal routine and keep things as consistent as possible. We take safety very seriously. We follow all instructions, keep a secure environment, and make sure pets are always supervised, especially on walks or outdoors. We respect our clients’ homes and routines, and we keep owners updated so they can trust their pet is in good hands.
“We could not ask for a better person to take care of our pups! Emily is so attentive to our dogs needs and takes amazing care of them and our home! We are extremely grateful for her!”

“This was our first time having Natalie house sit with our two dogs, and we couldn’t be happier with how it went. Natalie communicated with us the entire time and asked questions to make sure she was taking care of the dogs the same way we would. She also stopped by to check on them later in the day since our flight came in late. We came home to two happy pups and a very clean house. Thank you, Natalie! We’ll definitely book again :)”

“Christi was a terrific house/pet sitter for us. She sent daily updates of activities and pictures of our cat, Lucy, and young golden retriever, Pepper. Pepper is a bit of a handful and Christi spent a lot of time with her on walks, car rides and clicker training. We really appreciated her efforts. The daily communications reassured us that our pets were in good hands. It was nice to see how Lucy snuggled right up to her. We were greeted by happy pets on our return and a tidy house. We highly recommend Christi for a pet sitter.”

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats for several years. I'm comfortable and capable of taking care of pets with medical needs including but not limited to insulin. I started fostering cats, kittens, pregnant cats, puppies, and dogs for Midcoast Humane in 2020. I currently work full time as a teacher meaning early mornings and late afternoons free. I also have a comfortable amazing amount of time off with school vacations and summer vacation. During the work week I can be available for early morning walks and afternoons after 3:30. I can also stay with your pet overnight while still working and or have your pet stay in our home. I live in a very peaceful and safe area of Boothbay with very little traffic. We have an unfenced yard with an aerial dog run. We have two older children ages 11 and 13. We also have one female cat age 10 and one small terrier mix age 1 male, both animals have been fixed. Our pets are family and yours will be as well. Lots of cuddles and comfy spaces as well as walks and play.
“Lauren was an amazing and took very good care of our dog and home. We had a heck of a time coming home from vacation because our flights were delayed for 3 days due to almost 2 feet of snow and extremely cold temperatures that rolled in the night before we were due to fly home. She was so kind, so understanding. The one and only thing we were not worried about was Teddy and our home. I cannot say enough about how comfortable we were having Lauren here. Probably one of the only vacations i have been on in YEARS that i did not worry about my baby and that is huge ! 10 stars from me... Thank you, Lauren.”

“Molly thank you for taking good care of Teddy while we were away. I am sorry we did not get a chance to debrief with you upon returning. That said I would have liked to know about some of the things that went on in our home while we were away, for instance where there any pee or poop incidents inside the home either by our dog or yours and what is the nature of the stains left on our rugs and furniture. Just knowing that will help with the cleanup effort. If you can fill in the blanks there, that would be very helpful. Thank you.”

“Ann was a great pet and house sitter. Our pets (Oscar & Lacey) loved her, I actually think they miss her. She was a great communicator and sent us photos while we were away. We would definitely ask Ann to sit again and again!”

About: I’ve taken care of all sorts of animals since I was very young. I’ve been officially working in pet sitting for five years. Animals usually love me, and I’m willing to be as pateint as needed for the ones who are more shy and may take longer to warm up. I move at there speed. I also make sure that your house stays in the same condition you left it in. Maybe even cleaner lol. There’s no need for you to come home to a messy house after a much needed vacation. Leave the stress to me. This has become my full time job as well while I begin to build my writing career. So I am available for you whenever you may need me. I have an extremely flexible schedule and can accommodate your needs. I would love to have a meeting where we go over all your expectations and needs, every person is unique in how they care for there pet. I aim to make this process as easy as possible. I’ll bring a note pad and you tell me all the details of there regiment. I will follow them to a T and give you live updates on your little friends whenever you need!!
“Beth is fantastic! We were away for more than a week and she stayed with our cat (a sometimes challenging cat!), and he was incredibly cared for. She went above and beyond, and we will definitely have her care for our kitty again should the need arise. I can’t recommend Beth highly enough.”

“Liseli is amazing with our big dog, Tycho. He gets really excited when he sees her. I felt very comfortable with Liseli staying in our home and taking care of our little buddies.”

FAQs for House Sitting - South Bristol
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 159 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Bristol. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Bristol walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Bristol maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Bristol choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Bristol. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 87% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
