“Carol’s son stayed at our house and took great care of our dog, left the house clean, and provided frequent updates. We would work with them again and would recommend Carol and/or her family to others!”

“We’ve used Elizabeth for multiple dog walk drop ins and for staying at our house for an extended weekend to watch our 10 year old lab. We highly recommend Elizabeth. She is super nice, professional and personable, and takes amazing care of our pup. You can tell from the pictures that Carter loves Elizabeth and is at ease with her. We feel very comfortable having Elizabeth at our house and feel good that Carter feels comfortable as well and has a fun time! Elizabeth is also very communicative and keeps us up to date with Carter!”

“Teresa dog-sat in our home for a week while we went out of state. I was a nervous dog parent after not leaving our dog for 3 years of Covid. Teresa's quick communication and frequent updates put us at ease. We returned to a happy dog and a clean home. Would definitely rebook!”

“Cameron is a gem and honestly we’ve never had a sitter care for our old lady like he did. He kept up updated with pictures and constant communication over the weekend with how she was doing. Our dog is elderly and has some sleep issues and he was just so patient and kind with her needs. We truly appreciated him and knew she was in good and safe hands. He’s our go to person now!”

“A++++! Perfect house and dog sitter for a long weekend. Great communicator! We always knew how things were going while we were out of the country. Went above and beyond to get comfortable with our dog and make our dog comfortable.”

“Barrett was great. We normally board our dogs, so we were a little nervous at first doing something different, but Barrett put our nerves at ease. He went above and beyond and spoiled our dogs while we were gone. They were well taken care of. We highly recommend him.”

About: I grew up on a farm with all sorts of animals. I have had indoor pets for over 30 years and currently my family and I have two cats. I can even take care of smaller pets like hamsters, guinea pigs and lizards. However, spiders need not apply! 🙂 I currently work until 2: 30 p.m. But I have flexibility to go check on pets, I can also do evening runs and or house sitting as needed! my preference would be to check on your pets in your home, but can provide care in my home. I have cats who have been around dogs a bit

“Nicole was fantastic with my senior pups during her housesitting stay! Mobility issues and medications were handled with great care. Lots of cute pics were provided and my pups soaked up every minute of love and attention. Nicole has stellar communication skills and was very flexible when I had a last minute change in plans. I will definitely book her housesitting services again. I highly recommend her services!”

“Alekx has stayed with our puppy twice now and was amazing! Very patient with puppy energy. We also came home to a pup who had been taught a few new skills and Alekx even gave our pup many hand me down toys from her own dog, some of which are our pups new favorites! Our dog hasn’t been alone yet, and Alekx was great about staying with her and even took her out to a park.”

“Emma came in last minute and was willing to stay with our boy. She is kind and attentive and did a great job keeping us in the loop how Things were going. We will use her again. She is trustworthy and responsive and great with our dog.”
About: I grew up with a dog in the house and then starting watching dogs and caring for them starting at around age 13. I was the "go-to" dog walker in the neighborhood as I was reliable and made sure each dog received proper care while I was in charge! I a currently a personal trainer and have a lot of flexibility with my schedule. I have the ability to walk or care for your loved one at a variety of different times in hopes that you will not have to worry while away! I make sure that I follow the proper steps and procedures based on what the family is looking for. I am sure to feed, walk, pet, play, exercise, or hang with your little one!
“Avery stayed with my pups while I was out of town. They can be a handful, and Avery handles them with ease! I’ve never come home to such calm dogs after a weekend away. Highly recommend!”

About: I've taken care of both mine and my grandmother's animals for many years. I have experience caring for both young and senior cats and dogs, as well as staying overnight to care for animals. My family has had two dogs and three cats, and my grandmother has had one dog and three cats. I have very open availability so I will be able to housesit or drop by to take care of your pet anytime. For housesitting, I can stay overnight and most of the day, but I will leave sometimes during the day to go home and freshen up. I won't leave for more than two hours. I am very accommodating for different personalities. If your pet loves to cuddle up, perfect! If they want some space to get used to me, they've got it! I'm used to working with animals to adapt to what they are most comfortable with.
“Diamond is a wonderful dog sitter!! She stayed in our home so our dogs felt comfortable. I received updates and pictures daily. Diamond even quickly noticed that one of my dogs was unwell and administered her medicine! I had absolutely no worries while we were away. I hope Diamond will sit for us in the future ?”
About: I've been caring for dogs and other pets for the past 20 years and am a trusted housesitter in Durham, Chapel Hill, and beyond! I've provided extended care and regular housesitting for up to a month at a time in my home or theirs. In my own home, I have a fenced yard and no other pets, providing a great setup for boarding. I love spending time with animals and can't wait to meet your pet, large or small, fosters and rescues! I'm also experienced with birds, rabbits, and other small animals. I'm reliable, organized, and ready to work with you to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience for your pet. I have a flexible work schedule and love hanging with pets during the work day, whether staying in your home with your pet, boarding them in my home with a fenced yard, or providing drop-in care and walks. I can provide bathroom breaks every 4-6 hours most days. I'm a trusted housesitter for several local families, providing extended care in their homes for up to a month at a time over the past few years. In my own home, I have a fenced yard and no other pets. I do have a variety of indoor plants, so dogs that chew on plants may not be a good fit safety-wise.
“Suzanne was so great! She sent so many updates throughout the 5 days I was gone! She left the place cleaner than she found it! Was super communicative!! I would book her again in a heartbeat.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wilton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wilton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wilton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wilton. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
