“Ana was great with my Maltese/shih Tzu. This is the first time she’s stayed with anyone more than two days, so we (me & dog) were both a little nervous for this weeklong stay. But Ana sent me a picture and video so I was able to relax and enjoy my time away. I’ll definitely use her again. Very pleased!”

“Kelsey did an amazing job taking care of our 4 month old kitten, and addressing her needs. Our kitten was able to socialize with other cats and even a dog! Kelsey updated us with photos and messages very frequently, which was very much appreciated! Kelsey has a significant amount of knowledge on cats, and gives them many opportunities to play and enrich their minds, socially and mentally. Thank you so much for looking after our little baby! I can not wait for the next time that she can come over to visit!”

“Haley was great with our little nervous rescue pup! She sent updates and reassured us that our dog was in good hands. We’ll definitely use Haley again.”

About: As a dog owner and foster, I have experience caring for senior dogs, nervous rescues, and multiple dogs at once. I prioritize individualized care, patience, and creating a stress-free environment. I work from home full-time, giving me the flexibility to provide attentive care, regular walks, playtime, and plenty of companionship so pets feel safe and comfortable. I believe consistency is important for pets, so I follow their established routine for meals, walks, exercise, and rest. I provide attentive care, patience, and an stress-free environment while making sure owners stay updated. I have a fenced-in yard for safe outdoor time and two senior dogs who are calm and friendly companions.
About: We came across the Cavapoo breed as our loving Rottweiler was on his journey to his “better place”. We chose the Cavapoo breed as our furry rainbow puppy to help us all with the tough loss. Fast fwd 5 years, and WOW, still can’t believe the journey that was created for us. Dog breeding, training, boarding and grooming just the way I would want my pups taken care of…in a home. Our setup is ready for all stages of dogs and of course, personalities. This is a small family business and we make pet care fit seamlessly into our lives. We’re a party of 4 and all hands are always on deck. 4:00 am wake up call during the week and 6:00 am on weekends. Caring for pets in our home can consist of taking your pets normal routine that’s already established and following it. Help keep your animal on a schedule of food timing to crate or bedroom boarding. We live in a neighborhood with a 6 foot privacy fenced in back yard. A 3,000 gallon Koi pond surrounded by 800 square feet of deck. Nice plush outdoor furniture for the dogs to lounge next to the pond after a drink. We have also built a 200 square foot doggie palace on our property. Full electricity with heating/air and additional ceiling fan. Great for rainy days or dogs who are lone rangers and/or feisty.
“Amber was great to work with and quick to respond, communicate, and make me feel comfortable leaving my dog there. She made sure my dog was taken care of in the best possible way and sent me daily updates and pictures. I would highly recommend!”

“Lynn is the best sitter. She has a huge fenced front and backyard and 4 great loving dogs. Her 4 dogs added our 2 dogs to their family. My dogs had a great time. She always shares videos and pics of them playing together. One of the best experiences i have had. Will be definitely giving our pups to Lynn whenever we go our of town.”

“Megan was great!! She sent regular updates and sent lots of pictures. Bella fit right in with her crew of dogs. I highly recommend if needed a pet sitter!”

“John was an amazing sitter who kept us updated multiple times a day with pictures and updates, even when we couldn’t be as responsive. He offered Teddy healthy treats on the regular and treated him like his own. Five stars! We will definitely be reaching out to him again for future sitting needs.”

“Brian clearly treated our beagle very well! He gave her plenty of exercise (which she needs), and kept us appraised on how she was doing. A very good caregiver, all in all!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats for many years and have experience pet sitting for multiple families, including drop-in visits and overnight care. I’ve cared for cats regularly over several years, watched dogs of different sizes, ages, and personalities, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals of all kinds. I also volunteer through Doggy Day Out at the shelter, where I help walk and socialize dogs, and I grew up with a family dog, so caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I enjoy walks, playtime, cuddles, and making sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and loved while their owners are away. I have experience incorporating caregiving and pet care into my daily routine and enjoy creating consistent schedules for feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and companionship. I am organized, dependable, and make it a priority to ensure pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. My schedule allows me to provide regular walks, check-ins, enrichment, and quality time, and I always work to follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible to help them feel at home. I spend a lot of time at home and have a flexible schedule, allowing me to provide plenty of attention, companionship, and consistency throughout the week. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their normal routines as closely as possible to help them feel comfortable and reduce stress. I make sure pets have fresh water, are fed on schedule, and receive plenty of attention, enrichment, playtime, and companionship. I prioritize safety by keeping doors and outdoor areas secure, being attentive during walks and potty breaks, and cleaning litter boxes as needed. I also provide updates and photos so owners feel informed, reassured, and connected while away.
“Laura was so great. She took great care of my dog. She took her on walks, gave me updates on how she was doing, and even took her to get an ice cream cone. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with Laura and will forsure use her again soon!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my whole life, and have taken care of them for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood I’ve had dogs, cats, hamsters, fish, parrots and fish in all stages of life. I’ve learned to cater to every need because of this, as every pet needs something specific to their age, size and personality. I can handle pets of all sizes and energy levels, and will treat each just as I would one of my own. I’m a full-time college student home for Summer break, and I have a very open schedule that I would love to fill surrounded by fur babies. I’d like to make pet sitting my full-time job for the season, so I have lots of flexibility and availability. I have a large fully fenced in back yard and live in close proximity to a dog park. I currently have one of my own super friendly dogs at home, and I have plenty of space to welcome yours, and/or separate them comfortably if needed for whatever reason.
“Nathan was great with Remy and she loved staying with him. He was a great communicator, sending videos and photos. I highly recommend him and will be booking him again!”

About: My family has had dogs since before I was born. We have had labs, mutts, pitbulls, and any other breed the humane society found for us. We are a family of foster fails, but have so much love for our furry found family. One of our pitbulls at home is a certified therapy dog thanks to countless hours my sister spent at trainings (and I happened to also attend because she needed a ride). I am also lucky enough to have a personal dog-trainer on call if needed, and I have had my fair share of experiences with giving dogs any medications they may need. I am excited to give your pet the love and attention they deserve while you get the time off that you deserve. I have dog-sat for puppy and senior St. Bernard’s as well as sheep dogs, little dogs, and every dog in-between. I am unemployed, so I have plenty of hours in the day to care for your furry friend. I just graduated college with a bachelors in Biology, and am taking a gap year before starting up vet school. When I am not pet-sitting, I am volunteering at Lexington humane society. So my schedule is flexible and I am more than happy to work around what you and your pet need. I have a fenced back yard that I like to let the dogs play in. I’ll usually take the dogs on a walk in the morning and then the evening. In between, if the dog is up to it, we’ll spend some time outside maybe throwing a ball or favorite toy. I usually ask that the owner gets a list together for their dog’s daily schedule, so I can keep the dog’s life as normal and comfortable as possible. The list I ask for usually includes what time meals are, when the dogs go out, how often you want them exercising, what meds are needed, how long you’ll need me, etc. It all just depends on what you as the owner are looking for.
“Martha did such a wonderful job looking after our little Gumbo! There was great communication and she clearly loves and has great experience with taking care of pups! Gumbo was extremely relaxed and happy when we picked him up after a long stay. We are so grateful to have found such a great boarding option!!”

“Allison and Justin are fantastic! They sent daily check-ins with the sweetest videos and photos. They administered my pup’s medication while I was gone, and their pup Skye is so sweet! I would highly recommend Allison and Justin for your pet care. I cannot say enough good things!!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in KY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
