“Sam sent a note that she would be early to our place which demonstrated a facet of her exceptional communication skills. She is an excellent listener as my wife and I provided an overview and asked the right questions to get the right answers. Sam bonded extremely sell with Athena, playing on the terrace, taking her out for breaks and relaxing on the couch! Sam will be supporting overnights for us during an upcoming trip. Highly recommend Sam to help take excellent care of your dog!”

“Mia was a phenomenal sitter for my two pups! We recently moved from Dallas to Miami, and I was nervous to leave them, but Mia was quick to step in and love on them. She sent photos and/or videos every day while I was away, which put my heart at ease. By the time I returned home, they were great friends! I will absolutely be partnering with Mia again!”

“Bella is a very caring and responsible dog sitter. We have a 15 year old dog that requires lots of attention and Bella did an amazing job with her. Our dog was really happy and well-cared for. She was very communicative and had great attention to detail. She treated our home with respect and left it like she found it. It’s a great peace of mind for us to know that our baby was in good hands. We will definitely be calling Bella again.”

“We left our 1 year old dog with autumn for 15 days while we traveled abroad. We have only had our dog for a couple months, so she’s still in training. Autumn kept up the training while we were away which we really appreciated. She communicated with us every day, and it really helped us relax and enjoy our vacation knowing our girl was safe with Autumn. We came back to a clean home & a happy dog which is all we can ask for!”

““When one door closes, another one opens.” Andreina and Mercedes are caring, gentle, supportive, flexible and great communicators. From the beginning, I could tell Andreina was going to put me at ease, as she took notes while we were doing our meet and greet, as not to forget any care instructions regarding Megan and Saber. During the five days while we were away, we were spoiled with countless photos and videos of our doggies, as well as detailed updates regarding their well-being. They received packages and mail for us, disabled a smoke alarm that had a low battery, and cleaned up a small flood that had occurred. They went above and beyond their usual call of duty, and expressed great kindness and communication during the entire five days. I’ve never come home to actual printed out photos of our dogs, attached with a little love note expressing their appreciation for being able to care for Megan and Saber. The fact that Andreina and her mom come as a duo, made us feel extra supported, and that our four-legged children, as well as our entire home, were taken care of. We will absolutely invite them again and are so grateful for this positive experience!”

“Stephanie is the best. She house-sat and took great care of our senior Chihuahua and cat for 5 days while my wife and I were out of town. She texted me photos of our pets, along with updates. All my anxiety about leaving my pets with someone new went away immediately. Thanks Stephanie!”

About: Hi! I’m Celine, a Master’s student at the University of Miami, and I’m excited to be back on Rover! 🐾 I’ve been caring for animals for over 8 years and have experience with dogs, cats, and small pets, including chinchillas, guinea pigs, and frogs. In addition to caring for my own family pets, I’ve pet sat for friends and family and volunteered at a local animal rescue, where I gained valuable experience working with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Before taking a break from Rover for personal family reasons, I had the pleasure of caring for dozens of pets and earned a 4.9-star rating from nearly 50 reviews. I’m now back and excited to provide dependable, loving care to pets and peace of mind to their owners.⭐️ As a graduate student, I enjoy spending my free time outdoors, and dog walking and pet sitting are the perfect way for me to do what I love while helping busy pet parents. Whether your dog needs a fun walk, your cat needs company, or your pet just needs a little extra love while you’re away, I’ll treat them like one of my own.💖 Communication is very important to me, so you can always expect prompt responses, photo updates, and plenty of love and attention for your furry family member. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! 💖🐶🐱💖 Currently, my availability is fairly open outside of my classes, so I have a lot of time to spend with your pet! I am more than looking forward to spending time with them and having fun!💖 Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, and any special instructions so they feel as comfortable as possible while you're away. During walks, I keep dogs safely leashed (unless we're in a designated off-leash area with your permission), avoid unsafe situations, and make sure they get the exercise and attention they need. In your home, I'll treat your space with the same respect I would my own and follow all feeding, medication, and care instructions carefully. I'll also send regular photo and video updates so you can feel confident knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.
“Raquel took good care of our doggies and kept them happy. She was very accommodating to our schedule and instructions. We appreciated the cute photos and updates she sent of our babies. We will definitely use her services again.”

About: From raising and bottle-feeding kittens to training and walking high-energy dog breeds (uncertified training for the joy of it) to cleaning horse stalls, I know that pet care takes careful, loving work! Whether you need someone just to be attentive and in the same space as your low-energy pet, long walks and lots of play for your high-energy pet, or high communication, special care for a higher- needs pet, I am ready to meet you and your pet’s needs. I am currently in between my college studies and a job in the fall, so I have very open availability! I am a classical musician, so I may have some weekend nights that I am out performing or rehearsing for a few hours, but I am willing to discuss and meet your time and care needs for your pet(s). I would like to care for your pets as closely to the same way that you do, so it is helpful to know routines for your pet, such as getting a treat after using the potty, eating schedule, walk schedule, amount of cuddles/play time they typically enjoy, crating/no-crating, etc. I will be available for as much communication as you would like while I care for your pet(s) and love sending you cute pics of your pet!
About: My hands-on experience as a former dog rescuer and PetSmart employee sets me apart. Being a dog rescuer has given me the skills to confidently care for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. During my time as a rescuer, I learned not only how to feed them and play with them, but also administer medicine and bathe them when necessary. As a pet care associate and cashier at PetSmart, I worked with multiple types of dogs and their pet parents to ensure they would get the best products and services. Because of my dedication to the well-being of dogs at PetSmart, I was offered an opportunity to be trained for a dog trainer position, but I had to reject it since I was moving out of state for college. Now, I’m back in Miami and ready to make your dog feel at home, even if you’re away. I’m a college student currently in Miami for summer and on a really flexible schedule, so I’m willing to dedicate lots of time to your dog. I will adapt to your dog’s necessities, whether they need going on long walks and playing at the park, or cuddles and quiet time. I believe that dogs are important members of the family and deserve to be treated as such.

About: I’ve grown up around animals (my family always kept 3-5 dogs in the house) and genuinely love caring for them like they’re family. I’m experienced with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels, and I’m patient with both puppies and senior pets. I can help with walks, feeding, playtime, medication reminders, bathing, and making sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule and make pet care a priority in my routine. I’m available for drop-ins, walks, boarding, and overnight care throughout the week and weekends. I enjoy spending quality time with pets, making sure they get attention, exercise, affection, and consistent care while their owners are away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are very important to me. I always make sure pets are supervised, secure, and treated with patience and kindness. I follow feeding schedules and any special instructions carefully, and I keep a clean, calm environment so pets can feel relaxed and at home. I’ll also provide updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.

We left our 1 year old dog with autumn for 15 days while we traveled abroad. We have only had our dog for a couple months, so she’s still in training. Autumn kept up the training while we were away which we really appreciated. She communicated with us every day, and it really helped us relax and enjoy our vacation knowing our girl was safe with Autumn. We came back to a clean home & a happy dog which is all we can ask for!

Devin was amazing with our golden retriever, Honey! She was reliable, communicative, and took such great care of her while we were away. Honey was happy, loved, and clearly in excellent hands. We would absolutely trust Devin to watch her again and highly recommend her!

Selena is amazing! My dog can be sensitive she took time to approach and followed all my notes to make my dog feel comfortable around. She caught my dog’s heart right away and I was happy to see his smile from the photos Selena sent to me. She gots great energy, responsibility, and super flexible! Looking forward for more time with her!

Hannie is AWESOME!! She handled my pack of Dobermans with ease (no small feat by ANY means) after only one meet and greet. She took amazing care of everyone, made sure they were well-fed and handled the pack dynamics perfectly. My babies were in heaven with her (she takes the cutest pics & videos!!) and were very clearly well cared for when I got home. I am so happy to have met Hannie, and my pups are obsessed with her. As a big dog owner I’m always nervous with new sitters, but I felt immediately at ease with Hannie (and my dogs were immediately obsessed with her). She followed all the instructions and went above & beyond in just making sure everyone was happy, safe, and having fun. Thank you Hannie!

Natalie was so great! We did a couple meet and greets as one of my babies is a little wary of new people. She was so patient and a dog whisper. Both my dogs took to her so fast. She was extremely communicative during our trip and sent lots of photos. She followed all our instructions perfectly and gave our dogs lots of love and attention. We would love to have her house sit for them again in the future

Amanda was amazing once again. She accepted a last-minute weekend request and took such great care of our two dogs. She kept us updated with photos and messages, and since this was her second time staying with them, they were clearly excited to see her again. What made this stay extra special was the personal touch—she left us a handwritten note and even an embroidered patch featuring both dogs. It was such a thoughtful surprise. We truly feel at ease knowing Amanda is with them, and we can’t wait to have her back again. Highly recommend!

Charlotte did a great job for us. She sat Kody at our house for six days, staying overnight. She followed our written instructions and sent us videos and pictures every day. Charlotte also gave Kody his pills each day. She took good care of Kody. I would definitely hire her again.

I’m so grateful to Patty for stepping in last minute to house sit and take care of my American Bulldog, Pepper. She had boarded Pepper before, but this time I felt it would be better for Pepper to stay in her own home to avoid separation anxiety. Having someone she already knew and loved made all the difference. Patty was absolutely the right choice. I came home to a happy dog and a clean, well-cared-for home. It was such a relief to know everything was in good hands while I was away for work. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Patty to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter. She truly goes above and beyond.
Marcela was amazing with Vinny! So professional and helpful. After showing her around we left her with Vinny and she went above and beyond. She took him out multiple times, fed him, hung out on the couch with him and sent us pictures and updates throughout. We will definitely be working with Marcela again if she’ll have us!

FAQs for House Sitting - Westchester
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Westchester on Rover is $63.27 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,655 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Westchester. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Westchester walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Westchester maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Westchester choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Westchester. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
