“Sarah did an incredible job watching my dog while I was away. She was so flexible in accommodating my flight cancellations. She was able to stay for 2 extra days while I tried to make it back home. I'm not sure what I would have done if she hadn't agreed to stay! She truly cared for my dog while I was gone. I will 100% use Sarah in the future!”

“This was the second of a back to back pet sitting. Courtney did another amazing job with the dogs. It is always a relief when you need to be away from home and knowing that your fur babies are being lovingly cared for. Thank you Courtney.”

I am open to crating or letting pets free in my home depending on the owner's preference. My husband and I have no kids or other pets so they will get our undivided attention.

About: I’m a second-year veterinary student at the University of Florida with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I have dog sat numerous times for friends, neighbors, and families, including extended stays lasting several weeks. Through veterinary school and personal experience, I’m comfortable monitoring pets closely, administering basic medications if needed, and providing attentive, compassionate care. I understand how important consistency, communication, and trust are when leaving your pet with someone else, and I strive to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m currently on summer break from veterinary school, so I have a very flexible schedule and am available throughout the week at all hours of the day to meet your pet’s needs. If you’re looking for a long-term sitter, I will also make sure to prioritize time for your pup during the school year (August–May). When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while their owners are away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime, and staying active or prefers a calmer, more relaxed environment, I’m happy to provide the care and attention that best fits their personality and needs. As a veterinary student with experience pet sitting for extended periods of time, I’m very attentive to animals’ behavior, routines, and overall well-being. I carefully follow all owner instructions regarding feeding, exercise, medications, and household routines to ensure your pet is cared for exactly the way they are at home. My goal is always to make pets feel loved, comfortable, and well cared for while giving owners peace of mind. I also enjoy sending regular photo updates so owners can feel confident their pets are safe and happy while they’re away.

“Rebecca is a wonderful sitter; reliable, professional, and attentive. Our pups clearly enjoyed their time with her, and we really appreciated how she kept us updated throughout.”

About: Currently working at Newberry Animal Hospital, I want the chance to continue to help out the community to a less medical environment. Our furry buddies should be able to have love and care even while you’re away! I am currently working at Newberry Animals Hospital on Tuesday , Thursday, Fridays, and some Saturdays. That leaves Mondays, Wednesdays and some evenings open to hang with your little buddies! I do not plan on bringing your pets into my home. I prefer for them to be in their most comfortable space, that way, we avoid any unneeded stressors.
“Evelynn responded immediately to my Rover request and took amazing care of both Clara and my house. She helped me out in a pinch and while i was out of town, and sent me frequent updates with pictures! She also asked me insightful questions about Clara’s care, so I know she was well taken care of and comfortable.”

“Kaitlyn was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of our pets and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy, safe, and loved while we were away. Her communication was great, and it truly gave us peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would 100% book her again. Highly recommend!”

About: Growing up in my parents house I had 5 cats and 2 dogs. I love each one of my pets and their unique personalities, and they have been my biggest responsibility. I understand how difficult it is to leave a loved pet and know they are in good hands, so I treat each pet with the love and respect as if they were mine. I have a very flexible schedule, and can adjust to any accommodations. Available weekdays, weekends, days and nights! I am a student and work with pets as well as babysitting. For dogs I am more than happy to walk them, clean up after them, give them food and water and play with them as much as wanted! Same thing for cats as well as litter cleaning 😊

“We booked Delia for a few days to house sit our 3 dogs. This was our first time utilizing rover, before we go on a longer trip at the end of the year. She popped in several times to let our dogs out and communicated well when she would be returning late. Came back to a respected home and happy dogs.”

About: Hi, thanks for considering hiring me! I have experience being the primary caretaker of a maltese-poodle since childhood--including in old age and end-of-life care-- as well as walking and doing drop-ins for family and friends' dogs of all sizes. I have limited experience with cats but am very happy and willing to learn. I love animals and spending time being active or just sitting with them. I am currently a college student studying from home who is able to take their work wherever! I do not currently have another job so my availability is very flexible. I will do drop-ins or come stay at your house for walks, feedings, litter-changes, etc, as well as general house-sitting as needed (ie watering plants, getting mail). And of course providing the animals lots of attention!
About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is truly my passion. I’ve been working with animals since I was a little girl, and one of my very first jobs was at a local pet shop called Aquarium Connection. Over the years, I’ve gained experience with all kinds of animals — from dogs and cats to reptiles, birds, and exotic pets. I personally own several reptiles myself, so I’m very comfortable caring for reptiles and birds in addition to traditional pets. I’m not afraid to get messy, handle shy or nervous animals, or care for pets with disabilities or medical needs. I’m experienced with giving medications and making sure animals feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. Animals have always shown me unconditional love and comfort throughout my life, and being able to give that same care back to them means everything to me. I treat every pet like family and always strive to provide patient, loving, and dependable care. Pet care is a night weekends and holiday job. There are no off days ! I’m currently available 24 seven 365. I am looking to make my passion for animals into a full-time job Caring for my animals and others, is my upmost priority. They receive 100% of my time and attention. I have a completely fence and backyard with plenty of room to run. Inside they have a chance to meet three kitties, and have all the toys in the world. If they’re feeling adventurous, my bearded dragon would probably like to meet them too.
“We appreciate Randee's excellent care of our three cats! She was fantastic and we will definitely invite her back. Not only were our cats very relaxed when we got home, it was obvious that Randee took excellent care of our home as well. Randee's communication while we were away certainly gave us a sense of peace knowing that our fur babies were in her good hands. She is a wonderful person, very caring and professional. I recommend her without hesitation!!”

Evelynn responded immediately to my Rover request and took amazing care of both Clara and my house. She helped me out in a pinch and while i was out of town, and sent me frequent updates with pictures! She also asked me insightful questions about Clara’s care, so I know she was well taken care of and comfortable.

From the beginning, my pets were immediately drawn to Rebecca, and very calm and comfortable in her presence, even though they are normally a little shy and cautious. She has natural warmth and a gift with animals. When we first met, she asked questions about each of them and then follow-up questions after. Then during my trip, she was very attentive to their needs (they are not all on the same schedule, the kitties sometimes need to be separated, and one is on a diet, and my 9yo dog takes meds and experiences joint pain) and provided lots of updates with pictures. It was even beyond what I had hoped for since she had to be at the house so much due to the inconsistencies in their routines. I felt confident booking with Rebecca, and assured that my babies were safe, mentally stimulated, and happy while I was away. By the time I came home it was close to their bedtime, and they were all gathered near her, so it is clear the trust is unanimous! I would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her. :)

Jackson remains our go-to sitter after multiple exceptional experiences. He treats our dogs and our home with great care and seems to genuinely enjoy playing with them and walking them. We get proactive updates and fun pictures while we’re gone. Before Jackson, we brought our pups when we traveled because I’d worry when we left them behind. Now we enjoy worry free getaways and the dogs get to keep their routine & relax in comfort at home. Jackson is truly the best!

Sabrina is extremely responsive and reliable. She stayed at our house with our senior dog and took excellent care of her. Additionally, our travel plans unexpectedly changed (flight issues) and she was able to help us out in a pinch. We will definitely use her again!
You can tell Kat has a real love for animals! She was punctual, reliable, and so loving with our fur babies. It was our first time leaving them in the hands of someone other than family and she made the process easy! She sent us photos, kept us updated, and was very responsive. She went above and beyond for our pets and we will definitely be working with her again in the future :)

We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter! Adelle was incredibly reliable, communicative, and clearly attentive to our cats’ needs. With three cats, it’s important to us that each one gets care and attention, and we felt completely at ease knowing they were in such capable hands. We came home to happy, relaxed cats and a well-kept space, which says everything. Highly recommend to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, thoughtful, and genuinely caring with animals. 🐾✨

Scott did an overnight stay with our three dogs and was great. He was an excellent communicator, sending us regular updates and asking questions when appropriate. He showed up on time and kept us updated on when he was coming and going. The dogs all seemed relaxed and happy with him there, which is huge considering they are often anxious without their people around. Scott was extremely respectful of our home and left it so clean it was like he wasn't even there. We would not hesitate to use Scott again.

Marissa was a fabulous sitter for our pets, and we would highly recommend her for other pet parents. She was extremely responsive, conscientious, and responsible with our elderly dogs and rabbit. She sent us photos and check-ins every day, and we would love to rebook her in the future. Thank you Marissa!
I was lucky that Erin was available last minute for a booking during holiday timeframe. Erin came and meet me and my pups in person super last minute. She was prompt when showing up for the dogs while I was away, she communicated often with pictures and lovely videos and what really touched my heart the most is that one of my dogs doesn’t really warm up to people often. Usually when I’m away, she sleeps by the front door and waits for me to come home and I could tell through the pictures that she felt safe, loved and cared for. She bonded with Erin, which means the world to me because I have Dog Mom guilt leaving her. Erin is a fantastic dog sitter/companion, 10 out of 10 would recommend.

FAQs for House Sitting - West Hills
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in West Hills on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 439 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Hills. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
