“I highly recommend Hope to other pet parents. She took the best care of my senior dog, made sure he ate (picky eater) , had lots of outdoor time and love. I got lots of photos and communication was excellent. Made me feel very secure while leaving overnight. In addition Hope lefty home in perfect condition. I am grateful to have found her and will use her again.”

“Sarah was a wonderful sitter for our cat and our house. Our cat is elderly, special needs and Sarah took extra time to make sure she was loved and cared for. The house was in perfect condition when we got home - better than when we left it! Communication was very good. We got daily pictures and updates. Highly recommended!”

“Haley did an excellent job of taking care of Stella. She was extremely patient with her even though Stella was very nervous. She was very responsive and sent lots of pictures and updates.”

About: I believe that our pets enhance our well-being and improve human connection. With over 7 years of pet-sitting and dog walking experience, my clients have described me as patient, communicative, and helpful. I've owned and fostered cats and dogs my whole life, and used to work in the animal welfare and veterinarian field. I enjoy working with all types of pets - young, old, special needs, healthy. I work in compliance for a youth development organization and love doing Rover as a side gig. My schedule is most flexible for morning and afternoon/evening drop-ins during the weekday, and open flexibility during the weekend. very flexible and open. I'm available everyday for walking and drop-in visits, but prefer advance notice for house stays. I'm available for overnight stays, or I can visit your pet(s) at home. For new clients, I prefer meeting beforehand to discuss care, any expectations, or instructions. I am available most mornings and and evenings during weekdays and flexible during weekends. I try my best to be flexible around my full time work hours. I provide cat sitting, dog walking, and pet sitting from the comfort of the client's home. My home is also available for overnights or weekend playdates.
About: I have been caring for dogs since I was a teenager! I have ample experience with caring for senior dogs, giving walks, feeding, outdoor play, bathing, and nail clipping. I absolutely love all dogs, and I have experience with caring for big and small dogs alike! I am a graduate student at the University of Florida, so I have flexibility with my days to check in on your pets! I am open to visiting your home to care for your pet or bringing your pet into my own home to care for them! I do not travel much, so I largely have an open schedule. I will happily send you photos of your pets daily! I live in an apartment complex with ample courtyard space for dogs to walk and play. There is also a nearby dog park to take any dogs that I care for. I also have a lovely fenced in back porch that I often let my cat sit outside on. I am willing to visit and/or stay in your home with your animals as well! I will follow all instructions that you leave me, and I will ensure the safety of your pets while they are in my care.
“Hayley took care of my boy and my house for a week and did a wonderful job! Hayley was very respectful of my home and was easy to communicate with. I appreciate that she was patient with my pup who was a little nervous about me being gone.”

“Rebecca is a wonderful sitter; reliable, professional, and attentive. Our pups clearly enjoyed their time with her, and we really appreciated how she kept us updated throughout.”

“Camden was amazing! She sent us lots of photos of our dog while we were away and made us feel very comfortable. She was able to stay longer than we originally expected too. Highly recommend!”

“Christina takes great care of Gus. She is communicative and sends lots of update and photos. I know he is in good hands when he is in her care. Would hire again.”

“Crystal is awesome! Being a veterinarian myself, I am pretty particular about who I choose to care for my dogs. Crystal is caring, detail-oriented, and compassionate. She had great communication with us about the booking and about how our dogs were doing and sent lots of pictures of them to keep our minds at ease while we were away. She was super understanding when our start and end dates needed to be changed due to unforeseen circumstances and I appreciated that so much. She has taken care of our dogs in our home twice now and I just booked her again for a longer trip. It is so nice to be able to relax knowing our dogs and our home are in good hands. I highly recommend Crystal to watch your fur babies!”

“We hit the jackpot with Abigail as our house and dog sitter! She stayed at our home for 5 nights and handled our 3 quirky small dogs like an absolute pro, including our clingy puppy who wouldn’t let Abigail out of her sight! Since our dogs are used to someone working from home, having Abigail there with them was a total game changer. She kept us updated often, communicated about any issues that popped up, and sent the sweetest photos that made us smile (and relax!). This was our first time booking Abigail and we felt comfortable with her immediately upon meeting her just a few days prior to our trip. We came home to a happy house and 3 very well-loved dogs. Truly could not have asked for better care. We’d book her again in a heartbeat!”

“Super impressed with Chandrika! Our dogs are not easy! We have 2 BIG puppies and our malinois Bella is very standoffish. Bella doesn’t even like 2/4 people who actually live here. She eats and destroys everything. She steady barks at everyone, but doesn’t bite, still she seems scary because of how she looks. We also have a happy-go-lucky bloodhound mix, Jethro, who is a complete mess. Chandrika took the challenge. She watched them for a complete week. She sent frequent updates and pictures. She somehow won Bella’s trust very quickly so she must have good dog vibes. Our dogs were well taken care of and were happy upon our return. Thwy didn’t even damage as much of our atuff as usual. If she is brave enough to return we would absolutely hire her again!”

“Maggie was absolutely great with my cat! She got to know her very quickly, was very attentive to her needs, and my cat immediately responded to her approach well and trusted her. Maggie sent regular, detailed updates and left the house very clean. I would definitely work with her again.”

“Angelina is delightfuland did a wonderful job staying at my house taking care of my dogs. She stayed in communication, and sent me photos. I will not hesitate to have her petsit again. My dogs and I are super pleased!”

About: I have been providing pet sitting services for friends and family for around 5 years! I have experience with small and large dogs and also have 2 cats of my own :) I’m a college student, so while I have lots of work to do, my schedule is very flexible! I can make time to spend time with your pets in the mornings and after 5pm almost any day if I have advance notice. I have a strict no-animal policy in my apartment, so all care will have to be in clients’ homes. I am open to spending the night if necessary!

About: I’ve had pets ever since I was 8. Everything ranging from lizards, bunnies, chinchillas, dogs, cats. All were well taken care of. I am pretty knowledgeable with pet behavior and animals like me so I’d say that’s a plus as well. I currently have a puppy, so I usually work with him daily to train him and make sure he has everything he needs. I also take care of 3 other pets along with him daily. I have a fenced in yard. I have two dogs, and a cat that are friendly with other pets. I make sure all pet needs are met before leaving a client's house.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gainesville
Jonathan was the best!! He took the best care of our two dogs, Dexter and Beatrice, at our house. During the initial meet and greet, he took his time to get to know our dogs and they immediately loved him. You can tell that he truly cares a lot about dogs. I felt at ease leaving my dogs with him while we were on a trip. He was also very good at communicating with us and always responded quickly. My dogs had the best time with Jonathan. We find our new go-to dog sitter!
Julieth did an excellent job of caring for my senior dog, Gunnar, while I was out of town for a conference recently! She maintained great communication with me during her entire stay with Gunnar, and she sent me many wonderful photo updates. I could tell that Gunnar was having a great time with Julieth and that he was being treated with love and care! I also really appreciate that Julieth was able to accept my booking request on relatively short notice, after my friend (= the original dogsitter) had a sudden change of plans shortly before I was scheduled to leave. If Julieth hadn't been able to step in to care for Gunnar, I might have had to cancel my trip! Overall, my experience with Julieth was very positive and I would not hesitate to book with her again!

Samaria is the best!! My dog is very hesitant and scared when it comes to trusting and meeting new people. Samaria made sure to take her time to earn Archie’s trust. With the amount of time and patients each day Archie became really comfortable with her and I will forever be thankful to her for that. She gave daily check ins, updates, and pictures of Archie that I am so appreciative of. I will definitely book her again for a pet sitting appointment. She’s amazing!

Xanadu was incredible. The pups love her and so do we. We came home to the most happy, well-looked after puppies. The place was spotless when we got home. Xanadu was so responsive when we checked in and offered regular feedback and photos. We are so grateful for Xanadu for the best (first) home sitting! We will absolutely book Xanadu again! And again!

We cannot speak highly enough of Mackenzie! We’ve never had anyone other than family watch our dogs, but for our wedding, we had to go with Rover since all of our family was traveling with us. This included our three dogs plus my dad’s dog (all 60+ lbs). We were nervous because they can be a handful, but Mackenzie was truly amazing with them. They loved her. Even our skittish dog was already asking for belly rubs from her on the first day. She handled all meds without issue. They got so much play time and attention that they’re going to be sad when they go back to real life with us and we’re at work not playing with them! She sent frequent updates and pictures, letting us know any concerns she had with the dogs. Our home was left clean and everything in its place. Our dogs, as she put it (and we laughed and agreed wholeheartedly), are cute but very crazy. If she could handle the four of them without issue, she can definitely handle your dogs. If we ever need to rover again, I would book her in an instant. Especially for a high stakes moment like being gone for a wedding, we needed this to go well, and couldn’t have asked for better!

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Randee. I was in a really stressful situation when my original sitter canceled in the middle of a stay while I was out of town, and she stepped in immediately without hesitation. Her quick response and willingness to help on such short notice truly saved me. From the start, her communication was amazing. She kept me updated with frequent texts and plenty of pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind being away. I could tell my dogs were happy and well cared for the entire time. She stayed completely on top of their routine—making sure they got their walks, plenty of outside time, and all the attention they needed. It was clear she genuinely cared about their well-being, not just checking off tasks. Overall, she was absolutely incredible. Reliable, attentive, and compassionate—everything you could hope for in a sitter, especially in an emergency situation. I’m beyond grateful for her and the effort she put in, and I would trust her again in a heartbeat.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gainesville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gainesville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gainesville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gainesville. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
