“Juliana was great! She watched my dog for a long weekend and took good care of him. She was very quick to reply when I needed her and very detailed on her updates. She was very kind, friendly, and very thoughtful when it came to taking care of my anxious little Pomeranian. Will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“Amanda watched our cat for the first while we were gone for the holiday she did such a wonderful job with her. She played with her and followed all the directions perfectly! Amanda was so kind to bring our mail in as well and offered to take our garbage cans. We appreciate her making us feel comfortable leaving her alone. We will definitely be using her service again!”

“Charlotte was a wonderful sitter and made me feel so comfortable throughout my trip away from my babies (w cats)! Will be booking again the next time I’m away.”

“Bradlei was amazing with my dogs and cats! I was going on a trip for the weekend, and unfortunately last minute plans made it so my family weren't going to be available to help watch them, but Bradlei did so well with everyone. The house was well maintained and she cleaned up the shreds of stuffed animals my boys scattered around the house. The litter boxes were clean and their water bowl was filled. I would absolutely recommend Bradlei and wouldn't hesitate to book her again. Thank you for taking care of my babies!”

“The moment I met Amanda I could tell it was a great fit for our puppy as she was kind and calm mannered. We just got our puppy a week ago and she came to drop in on our girl 2 times a day. She always provides me with pictures and detailed reports of her visits with Noa. I highly recommend her and will definitely be working with Amanda again and look forward to her visits!”

About: As far as I remember myself, I always had a cat in my house. From childhood I wanted to become a veterinarian and although I’ve gotten a different degree, my passion for animals never went away. I have a cat of my own, have work experience from a dog and cat daycare center, and experience from volunteering in Humane Society, so I know what kind of a care a pet deserves. Additionally, I took safety training at the pet daycare center, which thought me how to handle myself with cats and dogs in the best way. I am working part-time and have most days available for taking care of your pets! Usually I’m available every day in early mornings and after 5 pm, and any time on Fridays and weekends For boarding, I have a spacious home with a fenced backyard if you desire your cats to take a stroll and I know how to safely take you dog on a walk!

About: I've always had animals growing up. I currently have a basset mix (Brady), a tuxedo cat (Felix), and a black cat (Ghost). I've had dogs ranging in size and different breeds. I have cared for puppies to senior dogs needing special care. Most of my pets have been rescued from all different backgrounds. I understand that some dogs need time to trust new people and I'm willing to work with them. I love to go on adventures to new places and love to have company. We enjoy walks and taking trips to pets stores for (an approved) treat! Can't wait to work with you! I am new to the area and haven't started work yet (I'm an occupational therapist) so my schedule during the week is pretty open and flexible. We have a 5 foot fence for our back yard that has plenty of space to run around and are in a quiet neighborhood with a park nearby.

About: Hi!! I’m currently a grad student looking to fill my time during my weekdays/weekends when I’m not in class :) I have experience working with young puppies, as well as helping train service dogs in training for 4 years. I also have a family dog who is 5 years old and a retired service dog!! I am happy to help with dropping in while you’re at work or on a trip :)) I am currently in grad school some weekday evenings so most of my availability is during the day!! I also work in retail so I have some weekends open depending on my schedule!! I will always ensure I am providing the best care for your pets, whether I’m just checking in, letting them out, or taking them on a walk. I’m aware of how to handle different behaviors, being around other animals, and of course will always respect your animal and space :)
About: I’ve cared for dogs for over 10 years, helping friends, family, and neighbors with their pets. I’m choosing to offer pet sitting as a source of income, but it’s also something I genuinely love doing. I travel fairly often, so having a dog of my own isn’t the right fit for me right now. Spending time with other people’s dogs brings me a lot of joy, and I’ll give yours the affection, attention, and care they deserve.❤️ My schedule is flexible, so I can make time for walks, playtime, and keeping your pet company. I do travel occasionally, but I keep my availability up to date and only accept bookings when I can give your pet the attention they need. I’ll follow your pet’s usual routine and any instructions you leave for feeding, walks, and care. In your home, I’ll respect your space, keep doors and gates secure, and send updates so you know how your pet is doing.
“Amanda did a great job stopping by to let our two pups out while we were out of town. We had almost no cell service where we were, but Amanda provides the peace of mind that our dogs will be well cared for while we are gone!”
About: For the past 8 years, I’ve been helping out my family friend by watching her dog business overnight for a week or so while the family goes out of town. I watched between 3-10 dogs at once, which was a handful, but I really enjoyed doing so! I enjoy watching dogs all sizes & I love keeping them entertained by playing with them & giving them a lot of attention. I have a 4 year old Pomeranian at home who I take out for walks 4-5 times a day. He’s very active & gets along great with other dogs.. I work remotely from home & live with my mom as well who adores dogs as much as I do. Hope to hear from you soon! I currently work remotely from home so it makes it easy for me to be available at all times to satisfy any of your pets needs. I have 3 friends Pomeranians who get along with most dogs. I have experience taking care of special needs dogs as well as senior dogs.

Meredith was fantastic! My cat can be very shy, but from all the pictures she took, it’s clear Meredith was able to quickly get her out of her shell and enjoying herself during her visits. Meredith was very reliable and adaptable as well, helping me deal with a prolonged power outage due to heavy storms. I can’t recommend her enough!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
